Frustrated!!

This is the first PC game that I have ever purchased for my kids that I could not run because of not having pixel shader 1.1. Not only is the game expensive, but also disappointing once I had to explain to my kids that it doesn't work on our computer. Not only that, but eidos.com has no technical support available for this game at all, although they claim to in the instruction booklet. This game will be going back to the store ASAP!

Buyer Beware - if you have an Intel PC

My son was in tears on his birthday because this game would not work on any of 3 PC's we have. If you have an Intel PC, it probably will not run this game. I have a Dell, and their technical support people told me they don't make a PC that will run this game. Your PC must have "Pixel Shading 1.1" support - most PC's don't have unless they are gaming PCs or have a special graphics card installed.

Go to the Eidos Interactive website and download the demo software to confirm it will work on your hardware before you buy. Or look at all the posts in their support forum and talk of a class action lawsuit if you doubt me.

Once the package is opened, you cannot return it. They don't post this system requirement prominently here on Amazon. Your son will open the package under the tree, and from that point on, you cannot return it or get your money back.

I will not buy anything from Eidos Interactive ever again.

After spending literally hours trying to get this game to work on my 10 year old son's PC, we cannot figure out where the missing link is....video card? Memory? He has a Duron 1.6, 64 megs of RAM and a Radion 9200SE videoecard. Is it a coincidence that an ad for Nvidia Video Cards is the first thing to pop up on the screen when the Lego game loads in????? My son spent his own $$ on the game, and is heartbroken. As for me, I'm sick of the planned obsolesence of the computer industry. LEGO, are you listening?????

Let Down By Lego

In a nutshell we have a 2001 computer which does not meet the required video card requirements (as well as 2003 Laptop, the same lack of requirements). After spending time with Dell, on-line and finally at the EIDOs Chat Rooms, it is apparent that this is not an isolated problem. In fact may people in the EIDOs chat room were much harsher in their criticisms of EIDOS, Star Wars and Lego.

In short the game did not run at all. In order to so, we would need to buy a new computer or invest in a new card which might or might not run the program properly.

A game being produced for the mass market, and age group, by a brand name such as Lego, should be making a bigger issue of the need for state of the art hardware. Our nine year old selected this after doing on-line research (all glowing, see the rest of the Amazon reviews) as well as the school yard buzz.

We are now stuck with a $30 opened package (not returnable to Amazon or anyone else) and no way to play. Well at least it is an attractive box and will look good on the shelf.

Warning -- Will NOT Run on the average guy's computer!

Okay, first I need to say that I'm a computer geek. I know my machines and how to take care of them. I'm not an avid PC gamer though, so my PC is very good, but does not have the latest $599.95 video card on the market. My son desperately wanted this game and, being overconfident in my own geekiness, I bought it without reading the specs on the back of the package. You need a VERY specific video card in your machine or this will not install. Since I'm not about to rush out and drop a super-charged vid card to play a $30 game, this purchase was a total waste of time. **Parents, this game will NOT work on your computer, even if you bought it this year, unless, of course, you have purchased the top of the line gamer's machine. Spare your kids the heartache, and buy it for the Gameboy instead.

I recieved this game for Christmas and was very disappointed when I found out it wouldn't work on my Windows XP Dell. I have the wrong video card. A LOT OF PEOPLE WILL HAVE THE WRONG CARD, FIND OUT IF YOU CAN PLAY THIS GAME ON YOUR COMPUTER BEFORE YOU BUY!!! I wish I knew this before: go to the Eidos Interactive website, click on "games" choose Lego Star Wars from the list. On that page, there is an option to run a download that will ANALYZE your computer and tell you if you can play this game or not! Doing this also provides you with all the information about your sound and video cards. This was so helpful. It's a tiny download and it's free. Took it 60 seconds to check my comp. I failed sadly, but it even gives to links to places where you can get the right cards. GO HERE FIRST!

Hidden Incompatibility

We bought the game believing it would work on our system since the demo did. It doesn't work after a day of troubleshooting.

I have found some sites that list it as compatible with Windows 98 while other sites and the packaging indicate it is incompatible.

As I said, the demo is compatible with Windows 98 while the game is not.

Can't review a game that won't run on a new computer

Don't buy this game unless you are absolutely positive that it will work on your system. On second thought, just don't buy this game at all. I spent $30 on this game for a birthday present and now have a heart broken son because it won't work on an almost new Dell computer. I can't believe that a game would be sold without warnings on the box if it won't run on a new computer with Intel graphics. I'm sure alot of us don't know the exact numbers and specifics of all the innards of our computers. I'm going to look closely at who makes any of the games I purchase in the future and if it's from Eidos I will not be buying it.

Incredibly misleading - I'd call it false advertising

This was the most sought-after present for my 9-year old son, whose birthday is today. Upon opening it, and installing it on our new Dell computer, the game did not run. It doesn't run on any of the PC's in our house. Spent an hour with Dell tech support, who told me they don't MAKE a computer this runs on! So, the #1 PC company doesn't make a computer this game runs on, but it's called "PC Software". Right.

There's no mention of the system requirements on the Amazon site, so I completely disagree with those putting down people "who don't read the specs" - they're not here!

So here goes: after you've received the box, you'll see you don't have the recommended "Pentium 4.2GHz or Anthlon equiv", "100% DirectX Compatible Direct3D Card with Pixel Shader Support, 64MB Video RAM and 500MB free disk space," the game will not run.

Amazon should update the product listing, and be clear about the specs. Eidos Interactive in San Francisco needs to get a clue about marketing their products with integrity. The front of the box says "PC software" - but I'll bet this won't run on 98% or more of the PC's out there today.

Run, don't walk, away from this game now, unless you have a souped up gaming PC.

Requires obscure hardware -- big disappointment!

My son saw this at a friend's house, had a lot of fun with it, and we ordered it. To make a long story short, it won't run on my high end 2 year old HP laptop, since it requires an obscure video card running something called pixel shader. Unless you are 100 percent certain your computer will run this, don't bother ordering it!
