Excellent game

I'm usually not a big fan of video games, but this one is so much fun. The levels are challenging, but the controls are simple, which is a plus. The lego graphics look great too. I like that you can replay levels to unlock more of their secrets. Each movie (Episodes 1-3) has six levels representing various action scenes from the movies. Most of the action involves slicing with lightsabers or shooting with pistols. Jedi also can use the force, and each character has a special ability. Of course, you can't take the game too seriously (Queen Amidala earns points for destroying the many windows and flowerbeds around her own palace--perhaps it was time to redecorate?). Fast-moving and addictive.

Simply Awesome

Alright. I'm 30 years old, have two kids, bought this game recently for my computer so I could play with my youngest son, and have something that wasn't ultra violent and could have a good time with.

Well, this game rocks. I think it has been underrated on a few game sites thus far (even though it still got high ratings), but generally the reviews are very good for this game. And i think the developers did a great job with the depth of the game (considering it is a "kids" game), and making a Star Wars game simply fun again. My wife and I play it almost every night, just having fun being jedi and unlocking the secrets in the game. Yes. . .my wife and I play it. This game does appeal to the adults and the kids, so that is the mark of a well developed game.

The graphics, and gameplay make it addicting. I have hardly any gripes about it. I only wish they would have released it for the GameCube. I would suggest also, getting a gamepad, or controller of some kind. I havn't shared the other problems people are having (simlpy not working, or not having the right "specs"), though from what I've read, everything they've mentioned is "on the box". So, I dont think it's fair to curse the game for it. This game is good, top of the line, so older computers will not run it as well.

It has great replay value, its crisp, lots of fun characters (you can be over 30, so its just nuts) and its just addicting. Try the demo if your not sure. But this is one of the best star wars games I've played in a long time. Just fun.

Mom digs it too... :D

ok ok. i like to tell myself i bought this game for my 6-yr old son - but just between you and me, there's just something phenomenally adorable about lego figures in video games to me...i have lego chess and a couple others. so when i heard there was a Star Wars lego game, it was a no-brainer. Mom (i mean, my SON) had to have it. LOL

only issue i have w/ the game is that i cannot see faces on the little guys and sometimes the graphics don't quite do what they're supposed to, like there's a bug in the program or something. judging by what i've read from others' reviews, i am guessing my vid card isn't up to snuff...but i'm operating on a Pent 4 w/ 1 gig RAM - more than plenty for this game.

other than that, i LOVE this game. i can't wait to get home tonight from work and play it. my son has now been shoved away from my computer!!! LOL whoever thought you'd see a 36 year old professional female playing lego Star Wars??? after a hard day of drafting legal documents, i alone control the fate of the universe. how cool is that?!?! i especially like to use "the force" - just because i CAN! :D

the music and background effects are stellar. i am constantly amazed at the detail this game has (but then again, i grew up on atari, so most things nowadays look great to me) - just that someone somewhere took time to make EVERYTHING lego-oriented is just grand - the detail is really great and worthy of high praise.

as for children playing it, it's great because there is no blood/gore like most vid games now. it's cool to fly the ship and shoot at bad guys and all. i especially like to control R2D2 and make him beep. LOL FOFL OMG i have lost it!!!

you can be a kid again and nobody has to know...unless you tell them. ;)

Great game with strict system requirements.

This game is really great. My 10-year-old and all his friends were enthralled and I had to pry them off. They get all the fun of SW without the violence and darkness of other genre games. The graphics were the best I'd ever seen and much better than you can get from an X-box.

Important: the graphics card requirements are STRICT. You must have a card that supports DirectX 9 and Pixel Shader. If you don't, either plan on buying one or skip this game because it flat refuses to run. I got an NVIDIA FX5200 (the lowest-end card NVIDIA sells that meets requirements) on ebay for $30 and the game screams with great framerates.

Awesome family fun

My 5 yr old boy, 10 yr old daughter and I played this for weeks, it is both challenging and entertaining, but easy enough for young players. I can't wait for the sequel!

Delightful game for Star Wars fans of all ages

When I first saw this game I thought it was cute but had no idea that a game meant for children would be so much fun to play! I've been playing PC games in a variety of genres for years and I must say this is one of the most enjoyable.

Very easy to learn and easy to play, but there is still enough to do and plenty of bad guys to slice up with your lightsaber to keep things interesting. The 2-player co-op mode is a blast, and is a ton of fun to play along with your kids. The game is long enough to make you feel you've got your money's worth out of it but not too long to frusterate you, and there is plenty of re-play value through the "free play" mode that allows you to instantly switch between all of the other characters with their own attacks and abilities (and there's a LOT of them!).

As for the graphics, I love them. The LEGO style works very well for video games because it provides a sufficiant level of detail while still remaining very fluid and smooth on screen. For those of you who had trouble running the game, I agree with the other reviews that said you just didn't do enough homework on the game. It runs in high-resolution extremely well on my machine, and I'm using a 4-year-old video card that wasn't even the top-end model in its day. All I had to do was download a video driver from Nvidia's web site and I was good to go. If in doubt, download the demo from the game's web site and try it yourself. If it doesn't work the first time, look into the tech help section of their web site. Just don't give up, get mad, and write a bad review of a good game just because you can't get it to work.

Overall, this game is excellent. Both kids and adults will enjoy it wether or not you're a Star Wars fan; although that does makes the experience 10-times better. It's just a very well executed game that plays well and is well worth its price in entertainment value.

FUN! But is CRASHES.

Executive Summary:
Pro: Great game!
Con: When/If it works.

I don't know what it is about Lego software. I'm a big fan since Lego Racers. But their software titles never shake that "rushed to production" feel nor the "quick buck garbage title" feel. It's a wonder really, because all the pieces are there to make it work. They have great concept titles, just no heart to make a bug free game.

I installed Lego Star Wars on an AMD X2 4200+ dual core system, NVidia GeForce 6800GT game card. Per specs, so far so good. This same system runs a dozen other very ambitious games flawlessly. But this Star Wars title caused a few issues.

Here are the issues, in no random order. The NVidia splashscreen freezes on launch (about 50% of the time). The video plays at 150% speed after extended gameplay. The video becomes jerky after extended play. Sound becomes choppy or cuts out completely after extended gameplay. The game controls, which need to be set to a gamepad button by button, snap back to keyboard when a second player joins or leaves the game. Some issues aren't resolved unless the system is rebooted. Finally, the game claims to have sorround sound but does not make (any?) notable use of it.

My son loves it. He's played for hours now and easily forgives the glitches. So it's not a big deal to me. I have to help him unlock the system every so often, but the game is still very playable. So I consider it a good purchase overall.

This is the third title I've bought from Lego with serious QA problems. It's good software on paper. And I'd rather see Lego titles continue than some first person shooter (with a spaz shotgun in one hand and a chainsaw in the other) replace it. But even so, if you have any reservations about your system hardware, skip this title.

A black eye for Amazon and on-line retail

Amazon should have known it was selling a defective product and pulled it a long time ago. There really is no excuse as Amazon is all about up-to-the-second information processing.

The installation is a joke in and of itself... forcing you to hunt for the program in your "Program Files" folder (search in "Giant").

Definitely stay away from this game and Edios (PC version anyway).

I was able to find an FAQ for Lego Star Wars identifying this game release (for PC) as defective. And the number it lists is of no help, just giving an employee directory. From the FAQ:

{When trying to play Lego Star Wars I get an error reading "Wrong Disk Inserted".

If you are receiving the error "Wrong Disk Inserted" and your Lego Star Wars disk label has "Disk 1" in yellow text on the left side, you have a defective disk. Please call (800) 252-1738 and follow all the instructions given to receive a replacement disk.

We apologize for the inconvenience.}

not compatable with vista

Why are they still selling a version that's not compatable with Windows Vista? Your guess is as good as mine. And there are no drivers to upload to solve the problem. If you have Vista, don't buy this.

There is a problem with the software instalation and I would definitely not recommend buying this software. Tried calling Eidos support line but only was only able to get the company directory. I am very angry about the time and effort spent trying to install this software on Xmas.
