This game to me looks like a whole lot of fun and I can't wait to fight out Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith!

A nice outting, but a little short.

This game is a blast despite some lackluster reviews received from official game reviewing sites. Lego Star Wars lets you act out all the major action scenes in Star Wars episodes 1, 2, and 3.

The game has a unique look which is welcome amid the myriad of games that seek to portray realism in graphics. The controls are quite simplistic (each character can only attack, jump, or do a special move) but can be somewhat cumbersome while playing with the keyboard. A gamepad is definitely recommended.

The game is on the short side but has replay value if you are the kind of gamer that likes to go back and discover new areas and unlock all the characters (50 in all). The simplicity of control and shortness of the game led me to believe that the game was intended for children but I found it to be extremely fun.

Those that are trying to remain spoiler free should refrain from playing the levels associated with episode 3 as they reveal the major plot points of the upcoming movie.

Note that this game requires a graphics card that supports pixel shader 1.1. It will not run without it. I was a bit surprised by that because I was expecting the graphics component of this game to be less that what it ended up being. Many economy graphics cards that are over a year old do not support pixel shader 1.1. Check before you buy. If you are still uncertain download the free demo. If the demo runs then you will not have any problems.

Not for older PC's

Your video card must have "vertex and pixel shader v1.1". This is a video card older than about 2001. GeForce 3 or better; Radeon 9600, etc. (source: Eidos) Download the demo first from Eidos. Oh, be warned: Downloading the demo puts a very hard to locate and dump service on your PC you'll have to rip out of the registry - SecuROM. You'll find it running under Control Panel, Admin. Tools, Services, SecuROM. This runs in the background and takes up memory after you've uninstalled the game. Yes, a little much for a kids game, but I'm looking at upgrading my video card in the next couple months. Rumor has it that later it will come out for on the console (X-Box, gamecube, etc.). Update: No patch for the game controller direction jammer yet. Warning - In the game, do not use the Controller Options menu. Eidos hasn't responded to my reply and has not fixed the bug yet. Once you install the game 1/2 way through it, it will force one of the characters to run left or right. This will also force that direction into the control options menu and every directional will not be able to be set w/the blinking command. (This guy is really big, you'd think they'd have something that works.) Try to stick to Microsoft Games. Other companies are in denial about laying off all the programmers and customer service staff.

After spending literally hours trying to get this game to work on my 10 year old son's PC, we cannot figure out where the missing link is....video card? Memory? He has a Duron 1.6, 64 megs of RAM and a Radion 9200SE videoecard. Is it a coincidence that an ad for Nvidia Video Cards is the first thing to pop up on the screen when the Lego game loads in????? My son spent his own $$ on the game, and is heartbroken. As for me, I'm sick of the planned obsolesence of the computer industry. LEGO, are you listening?????

Frustrated!!

This is the first PC game that I have ever purchased for my kids that I could not run because of not having pixel shader 1.1. Not only is the game expensive, but also disappointing once I had to explain to my kids that it doesn't work on our computer. Not only that, but eidos.com has no technical support available for this game at all, although they claim to in the instruction booklet. This game will be going back to the store ASAP!

Hidden Incompatibility

We bought the game believing it would work on our system since the demo did. It doesn't work after a day of troubleshooting.

I have found some sites that list it as compatible with Windows 98 while other sites and the packaging indicate it is incompatible.

As I said, the demo is compatible with Windows 98 while the game is not.

Great game ignore the techno dolts

The poor reviews are from people who couldn't get the game to run. NEWS FLASH: If your machine doesn't meet the requirements it won't run! Just because the old hand me down machine that your kid has in his room won't run it doesn't mean its a bad game. The average childrens game will run on an old computer. This is not your average game. I think the game is great and it runs on my machine fine....I built my computer less than 6 months ago.

Ignore the other reviewers, buy the game. If you don't believe me check out some gaming sites to see what their reviews were (they're very good BTW).

Excellent game

I'm usually not a big fan of video games, but this one is so much fun. The levels are challenging, but the controls are simple, which is a plus. The lego graphics look great too. I like that you can replay levels to unlock more of their secrets. Each movie (Episodes 1-3) has six levels representing various action scenes from the movies. Most of the action involves slicing with lightsabers or shooting with pistols. Jedi also can use the force, and each character has a special ability. Of course, you can't take the game too seriously (Queen Amidala earns points for destroying the many windows and flowerbeds around her own palace--perhaps it was time to redecorate?). Fast-moving and addictive.

Simply Awesome

Alright. I'm 30 years old, have two kids, bought this game recently for my computer so I could play with my youngest son, and have something that wasn't ultra violent and could have a good time with.

Well, this game rocks. I think it has been underrated on a few game sites thus far (even though it still got high ratings), but generally the reviews are very good for this game. And i think the developers did a great job with the depth of the game (considering it is a "kids" game), and making a Star Wars game simply fun again. My wife and I play it almost every night, just having fun being jedi and unlocking the secrets in the game. Yes. . .my wife and I play it. This game does appeal to the adults and the kids, so that is the mark of a well developed game.

The graphics, and gameplay make it addicting. I have hardly any gripes about it. I only wish they would have released it for the GameCube. I would suggest also, getting a gamepad, or controller of some kind. I havn't shared the other problems people are having (simlpy not working, or not having the right "specs"), though from what I've read, everything they've mentioned is "on the box". So, I dont think it's fair to curse the game for it. This game is good, top of the line, so older computers will not run it as well.

It has great replay value, its crisp, lots of fun characters (you can be over 30, so its just nuts) and its just addicting. Try the demo if your not sure. But this is one of the best star wars games I've played in a long time. Just fun.

Great but flawed

A great idea, and a good single-player romp if you're into breaking things.
Forget playing through this in co-op. It's fun for a couple of levels and then you get to the pod racing. I played this on single player and found it frustrating but possible. However with someone else attached to you seemingly on a rubberband, constantly pulling you off course it becomes a complete nightmare. Just for the record I've completed all 3 GTAs since 3, Ninja Gaiden, and the first Halo on Legendary, so I'm not one to give up easily. Co-op pod racing will rob you of your enthusiasm for life.
