An exceptional title!

Highly highly recommmended to any Simpsons fan. The game features exceptional graphics in a true to TV free-too-roam environment. You have the pleasure of exploring Springfield in seven levels of increasing difficulty, and while driving all the vehicles from your favourite Simpsons episodes. With a setup very similar to Grand Theft Auto 3 -- but without the extreme violence -- you will meet your favourite Simpsons characters and go through a series of fun, diverse and not-too-challenging missions. The game is really true to the TV show and incorporates little details from certain episodes (such as the escalator to nowhere from the monorail episode) that make it even more special to the Simpsons fan.

And you can drive around as 300 lb. Homer. I think that alone makes it a must-buy.

Definitely 5 stars.

I heard about this game for simpsons fans so i bought it. In the begining the game is a blast. Then when you get to level 2 it gets really hard and at the same time addictive. As an example right now i'm on level 3 (lisa's level) and i'm supposed to find kamp krusty to get a school bus. I still cant find it but yet i cant put down the controller. After a while i start feeling like a lazy bum. So if your in for a challenge buy hit and run.
p.s. This is like GTA so if your not aloud to play GTA this is the next choice.

YOU HAVE TO BUY THIS GAME!!!!

This was one of the first games we purchased for the Xbox- I like it the best out of all the 25 games we own, beside The Simpsons Road Rage and Spongebob tying at 2nd place. This game is EXCELLENT! However, it has very crude lanuage, not suitable for little kids to hear, so we play this game while our little boy is asleep at night or if he wants to play it in the day, we turn the volume all the way down on the tv so he can't hear what is being said. That is the only drawback to the game. They should have thought about people with children and left the crude words out- it would have been wonderful! This game looks exactly like The Simpsons cartoon, and the graphics are pretty good. The game play is so much fun! Its a lot like Grand Theft Auto and Crazy Taxi. For around $20 bucks this game is worth every penny!

This game was sadly a letdown

I had heard good things about this game via school. I was mildly disapointed. My sister and I were in blockbuster looking at games to rent when i couldn't decide which game. It came down to The Simpsons: Road Rage and The Simpsons: Hit and Run. Looking where it shows how many players I saw Road Rage had 1-2 and Hit and Run had 1-4. I picked Hit and Run. I came home and put it in my Xbox and was disapointed that there was no Multiplayer. I was enraged, but got sucked in by the single player. I couldn't bear to return the game.

The Simpsons: Hit and Run single player was great at first. My parents wouldn't let me buy the GTA double pack (but thats changed) so I resorted to a game that I thought was close enough. It IS GTA in Simpsons world and skins. Don't get me wrong, GTA is a great game. just using the simspons is...an insult to it. The missions are too repetitive. You are either collecting, racing (people or time) or trying to destroy someone's car by constantly ramming it. You think it doesn't sound too bad. IT IS!

The reason I gave this a two and not a one is because of the variety of people you play and the costumes. You start out as Homer, then Bart, then Lisa, Marge, and Apu. Although there are only three environments, they are massive and you will notice something new every time. The costumes you can buy are pretty funny although they are EXPENSIVE. You'll spend the whole level looking for enough coins to buy the simplist costumes. There are also "hidden" cards and gags, neither of which is easy to find all of. For instance, there is a card in Milhouse's backyard. If it wasn't for accidently stumbling upon it, I would never have gotten it.

My conclusion is that this game is good at first but gets repetitive real fast. No multiplayer (at least in the beginning) disgusts me. The one-liners get old faster than the gameplay. The only thing that saved it was the variety of characters and costumes.

My recommendation: Skip

If you want to play a game like Grand Theft Auto 3 or Vice city without all the violence this is the one. This game is a blast to play for kids and adults. I'ts very funny and has all the shows voices. If your a simpsons fan this is a must buy with lots of hidden items from the show.

A Must for Simpsons fans

This game is all that a Simpsons fan could possibly want. The game is based around strange things going on in Springfield. There are crop circles, strange surveillance vans and giant wasps which roam Springfield.

Level 1 begins with Homer in Everyday Nice Springfield. It's sunny, and features common landmarks like Kwik E Mart, and the School as well as the Simpsons house and Power Plant.

Level 2 is with Bart and is set in really the centre of Springfield - more the industrial side. There, you can visit Moe's, the DMV and the Jebediah Statue. As well as driving on the Matlock expressway!

Level 3 is with Lisa and is by the lake, or sea whatever. There is a sunset, and you can go in the lighthouse, and observatory and the Comic book shop too!

Level 4 is like Level 1, only with Marge - and it is at night. Here- you can also go in Mr. Burns Mansion and also Barts Room.

Level 5 is with Apu and is similar to Level 2 only once again with different l;andmarks.

Level 6 is with Bart, and once again is like Level 3 however features more places like Mr. Burns Office.

Level 7 is known to be the best by most people. It features Homer in Everyday Springfield like in Level 1.

There are 7 Collector Cards in each Level. If you get them all, you'll unlock a mini racing multiplayer game - but dont be fooled because they are not good.

You can also buy new special clothes and vehicles for each character on each level using coins. To get onto the next Level you have to Complete Missions, howveer you can skip them if you fail them several times, as some are quite difficult. But - if you just want a roam around Springfield, you can do that too! tHERE IS a bonus mission on each level to unlock a bonus vehicle also, and three races on each level - which are hard but will earn a bonus vehicle.

On each level there is also a bonus vehicle hidden. Like a rocket car, a Monorail cart, Nightboat, an ATV, A Monster Truck, a Pink Cadillac etc. if you're a Simpsons fan you'll love the gags - but be sure to love thoroughly because they're easy to miss!

PS, Graphics are pretty good, and each level is a lot bigger than you would expect!

AND FINALLY - in my opinion - the best thing about this game is all the realistic dialogue and music. It really feels like you're in Springfield!

DO NOT believe the hype. This game is repetitive and boring.

I thought this game would finally be a good title starring my favorite cartoon family, but i was dead wrong. I do not know how they managed to screw this up, but they did.

You advance through this game by completing missions. But the missions are all pretty much exactly the same; either race a car somewhere, ram it to blow it up, or drive around collecting items. I'm not joking. That trio of actions is pretty much every mission in the game. There is no diversity at all the goals of your missions other than changing the names of items and locations of places you must drive. You basically just keep repeating the same ones over and over and over again. I have no idea why the game developers thought this would be fun through the entire game, but it isn't and most people will get bored after being about 15 percent of the way through the game.

Also the game is played with several different characters in several different "levels". These are different, character-specific areas of Springfield. The problem is that all other areas are CLOSED OFF. You can't get to any other area of the town, and can only roam in the level you're assigned to. This was a terrible idea. RPGS like this are supposed to be completely free-roaming. They let me explore a lot of it, but not all of it. How much sense does that make? I wanted to explore all of Springfield whenever I got the chance, but they would not let me. I don't know if they let you do that at the end of the game (I've heard rumors), but even if that is the case, it still stinks that you can't do it from the beginning.

The graphics are also dumb. Why didn't they cell shade? This game really needed cell shading.

Controlling the camera is also tedious.

Overall I'd only buy this game if you are a big simpsons fan. Otherwise just rent it because its just so boring.

Brilliant

This is an automatic buy for everyone, especially Simpsons fans. It is the Simpsons GTA. You can go in cars and on foot and do what ever you want while completing entertaining missions. You can get a Ferrari, a race car, a hoverbike and even go on a witche's broom. This is a great game. It's so much fun beating up Ned Flanders and kicking Todd on the roof while hijacking cars, destroying Smither's car, and unlocking Mr. Burn's limo. A must have for all! There is so much to do GTA style without the blood. Excellent game!

If you love the show, you'll love the game

I LOVE!!!! the Simpsons so I bought this game immediately popped it in my Xbox let it load and started playing and "DOH" it really sucks. The premise is running around as various people doing the most random tasks rnning back and forth. The only place this game shines is the graphics and sound. But ask yourself this Is a game worth $50 for graphics and sound? I hope even a die hard Simosons fan like myself would agree no it is not. If you still want this game I say wait a month it's price will drop faster than Enron's profits.
