(...) This is an okay game as a matter of gameplay, (way too easy and way too short) but the graphics were horrible. The views made me want to puke. The visuals were way worse than the two towers game (which was way easy) but I actually enjoy. One thing- I LOVE GAMING BUT I ONLY PLAY TWO HOURS A WEEK- SERIOUSLY. THE FIRST TIME I PLAYED A VIDEO GAME WAS IN EARLY 2002. OMY GOD. GIVE ME A BREAK- THEY SHOULDN'T EVEN HAVE CHECKPOINTS THIS IS SOOO FRIGGIN EASY! BUY NINJA GAIDEN THE BEST GAME WITH HALO AND SOUL CALIBUR 2 (EASY AS HELL, BUT GREAT VS BATTLES)- HELL YEAH!

Awesome Game but.....

I was seeking a solid fantasy multiplayer game for me and my wife to play and beat the winter blues. It started with me playing solo mode until the game was beat. The game is nothing to get worked up about.

Overall, the biggest diappointment is in how scripted the plot is. No surprise given that it's based on a movie, but it was a matter of laboriously going over all the hard parts, remembering which goblins to hack up, then making it to the end successfully. So: run, hack, finish, repeat.

For example, while playing Sam in Escape from Osgiliath, one cannot possibly kill all the orcs or else Frodo will get all loopy over the Nazgul. So one must figure out which orcs to kill and which ones to run past. Half the time you can't see anything because incoming catapult explosions hide the game from view. The other half is spent delivering the same three quick strikes to the same aggressive orcs. After about 7 times of playing the same drawn out scene over and over, I was able to complete the task.

At the Black Gate, there are different stages that one must accomplish. The first two are pretty straightforward: stand there and slice anything that moves, especially the big guys. The third stage is difficult. Failing there forces one to return to the beginning of that mission adding needless monotonous repetition that gets old quick.

If you're psycho about Lord of the Rings, you may as well get this game and get it out of your system. At least get it used! Otherwise, you're missing nothing by taking a pass.

Beyond awesome!

I played this game before I saw Return of the King.I had seen the first two. It's awesome! You can play as a multitude of characters, from Frodo to Sam to Gandalf,to Aragorn,Legolas, and Gimili. After completing the game, you can unlock Faramir,Merry, and Pippin as alternate characters. You can fight at such places as the Dimholt mountain, the Southern Gate, the Pelenor Fields.Shelob's lair and much more. The game is all in all awesome and I love to play it.It is a complete rendition of the film.Get this game,if possible!

this game is so easy I beat it right when i got it.the graphics are ok but my Aragorn is level 11 and now he is useless i mean whats the point of buying an upgrade to someone that is level 11.legolas is level 1 and when i beat a long level with him he got to level 4.do not buy it you can rent it and on saturday or sunday you will beat the game.and also the last level the crack of doom you have to make gollum fall like over 10 times well don't buy it thats all i have to say

I just bought an Xbox (absolutely love it) and I thought I'd buy RTOK to try it out. Excellent graphics and music but the play was way too difficult for me. There should be a novice setting that allows users who are just starting out on video games to be able to advance in the game. Keep it hard for true gamers with the more diffucult settings but a novice needs more checkpoints than what this game allows. That's why minus the one star. Well off to an Adventure game, at least I can advance in this type of game.

Its ok..but not enough................................

Good and bads Of LoTR Return of the king:
Goods:
Good graphics.
Some levels are realistic.
Great sounds.

Bads:
WAY TO !&%$IN HARD!!
No blood and gore which doesnt give it a LoTR feeling.
The checkpoints are way too far apart.

Overall its a pretty good game..but not enough. Its like the makers got lazy and slacked off. Here are some games i recommend...Halo,Metal Arms,Metroid Prime, and Star Wars Knights of the old Republic. Here are games i dont recommend:Medal of honor frontline and rising sun and pikmin.I hate EA Games..they allways..ALLWAYS...make lousy games.

fun...good graphics...but difficult

This game is fun...and I've been working on it for awhile. It's a bit difficult and at times, the camera angles can be off. I haven't gotten though the whole game yet, but my fiance and I are working at it..(the 2 player game)
One of the really cool things about this game, IS the two player option....it's fun to have a buddy to play with.
I have to say that I didn't like this game as much as "the two towers" but it rocked all the same. I would have given 5 stars, but the gameplay is just a little *too* difficult and the levels a little *too* long to get 5 stars. Get it, play it!!! YEHAW

Great But Difficult Game

The music, graphics, game play are the best yet. However, the missions can be very tough even on normal setting, with hard being suicide. It says on the back of the game "Live the Movie, Be The Hero" is so correct. Its just like playing the movie with the build up to the actual level using movie clips is outstanding and gets the pulse up. Many hours of game play much of which will be playing the same level over and over trying to figure out your next move but well worth the time if your a LOFTR fan and gamer........

Great game!

LOTR: Return of the King is a great and addictive game. The storyline is drawn directly from the movie and movie clips are used as cutscenes to smoothly transition from one scene to the next. The graphics are amazing and the controls are simple and easy to figure out. At times the game can be a bit challenging but never so frustrating that you throw the control across the room. This is probably the best game based on a movie that I have seen. Give it try, you won't be disappointed.
