I bought the Two Towers game for Xbox about two months ago and absolutely loved it. I saw an ad for this game, and I knew that I would have to get my hands on a copy as soon as it came out. I've played the demo, and the demo kicks butt! All I have to say is if you haven't preordered yet, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING!!! HIT ADD TO CART NOW!!!

Cinematic Gaming Experience!

Playing this game makes you feel a sense of being in the movie. The LOTR movie series as a whole is a realization that a superbly written epic can be transmuted to the big screen with great success. The game is truly excellent. There are many games coming out this season but LOTR:ROTK is one of the few you should shell out the bucks for!

Amazing Game!!!

I was worried that this video game was not going to be as good as the two towers but to my surprise, it was even better! The levels were not only realistic but true to the scenery and detail of the movie. When I went to see Return of the King in theatres, I could say what would happen next in certain scenes because of how descriptive the game was. The only thing I also couldn't believe was how difficult the levels were. I became a bit frustrated with some of the levels but eventually beat the game. Over all, I highly recommend this game especially for the trilogy fans out there!

Action Packed

I would recommend this to any action gamer and a fan of the movie. This game was well laid out and the graphics quality. I like the fact that you have to work to beat the levels and not breeze through. The characters leave plenty of room for going back through and upgrading your skills. If you like to play co-op games this is a very good game for more than one. I only wish the game was longer and had more to be accomplished.

hobbits rule!

It is really great to be different people besides Aragorn, Legalos, and Gimli. In this game you also get Sam, Frodo, and Gandalf along with three secret characters. The only level that I found extremely difficult was Minis Tirith: Top of the Wall. All the levels with the hobbits are farely easy and all of Aragorn's levels are easy accept Pellanor Fields. The only downgrade I have about this game is that all the hobbits have the same moves and that the man secret character has the same moves as Aragorn.

well, put simply GET THIS GAME, if you would rather know why then here it goes... this game picks up where the two towers left off, helms deep, you're gandalf the white and you learn to play easily, how ever you should always read the booklet first,(it gets frustrating if you dont)and fight youre way through middle earth, levels get hard fast so look out.OH by the way you get to play as gandalf, the wizard, frodo baggins the hobbit ring-barerer, samwise gamgee his "gardener" , aragorn the heir to the throne of gondor, gimli the "stubern" dwarf, and legolas the elf,and three unlockable characters who are...OOPS!! sorry cant tell you that!so anyway this game is worth every penny, you can also grab some buds an play together (only two at a time, stinks huh?)and save middle earth!this is complicated to say but when you beat a level in CO-OP mode, its not beaten in single player.NOTE se the movie FIRST before you get/play the game (its a little off target)the graphics are great (in XBOX)

and price is worth it.this games replayability is awsome because you can play as anyone (after beating the game)to any level! OH you dont have to worry I've won the game several times and know just about every thing about it.so un-sheath you're money charge the nearest toysrus in sight ,and oh yea lets hunt some ORC!!!

Fun game, but really short...

The game is really fun and you get into it, but flaws are that they play too much video as advertisement for the movies, and the game is unbelieveably short. I beat the game in two days, and it was really fun to play but my fifty bucks went really quick. It is cheaper now since it isn't current anymore so the price may be more reasonable. You get to play as more characters as an upside than the two towers video game and the fighting is awesome, a real combos game. If you find it for a cheap price, say $15, then I would recommend buying it. Otherwise you might just want to rent it and you'll probably beat it before you have to return it anyways.

Camera angles - arrghhh!!

I'm still trying to understand the game designers' intent with this one. You play one of several of the major characters in the LOTR series: Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Sam, Frodo. I've tried both solo and "co-op" with my son (i.e., multiplayer on the the same box with 2 controllers. In this case, there is no split screen, so you can never part ways). There is a 'mission tree' that you have to 'climb' - essentially it chronologically sequences the events/missions to match the movie/book. For some missions, you can play solo, but not co-op, or vice versa. And for the most part, the missions presume to fill in gaps in the movie sequence, e.g. battling your way through the Halls of the Dead with Legolas, Aragorn, and Gimli - lots of undead to kill, pathfinding through the caves, etc. Or battling as Gandalf on the parapets of Minas Tirith. You advance levels, get to select special attacks (higher level = greater attacks and selection), and hack through missions.

The cut scenes and visuals are not bad as is the voice-over acting. Generally, the strength of this game is the replication of the major characters and many of the scenarios: the situation setup and familiarity draw you into the game as they provide continuity from mission to mission and most folks have seen the movie.

It's the camera angles that became frustrating on several occasions. Here's how the work: just like a movie. "What's that mean" you say? It means that your watching the game as if it were viewed from static, pre-staged, 3rd person cameras. Sometimes your looking straight down, from the side, or even into the faces of the charactes and there's nothing you can do to change the viewpoint! Occasionally, you can't tell where to go next or some object screens your field of view. Example: Gandalf's running right-to-left across the parapet's of Minas Tirith, close-in shot (say, 40 feet away), perpendicular to his travel, and you can't tell what's further down the parapet as the 'camera' neither pivots, follows your character, or changes to another 'shot' even when you've got a bunch of orcs running in from 'stage left' and off camera! Use ranged weapons? Plan for 10 orcs bearing down on you? Nope, can't even see them coming. When you do, it's too late (although with the right powers, it's not really impossible, just annoying).

I suppose the camera technique is supposed to enhance the cinematic effect - but playing it as a video game, I found myself often trying to peer around the inside to the left and right (and top and bottom) of my TV screen to 'look into the wings' of the stage to see the offstage badguys comin' at me.

Get it cheap and if you're a LOTR fan. Otherwise, you won't be to thrilled.
