Don't write a review for a product you have not played.

It is truly amazing how many people write reviews for products that they have not actually played/tried themselves yet....and then give it a high or low score. Don't get me wrong for this is truly a great game. The graphics are amazingly well done and I have not personally noticed any frame rate issues on my play through the game. However, I did notice a rare "tearing" here and there... but that in itself does not distract you from the game. It is a very small distraction if you look for it. As usual with games, movies, etc... opinions roam supreme and that is all they are... one person's interpretation and is based somewhat on what type of games, etc... that person enjoys. If you like games that are pretty much open to do as you like and at your own "timing" to plan how you would like to accomplish something presented in the game... then you will not be disappointed in this game. Of course there is some linearity to this game... (aren't there in all games...you have to follow along in a story in all games)...but I am not sure why a couple of reviewers even brought this issue up and compared it to Oblivion. Even though you are capable of talking to characters that you come up to in Oblivion...all are programmed with a response so there really is no randomness involved with it and most are mundane responses that have nothing to do with your quest at hand. If you want to call that better interactions...go right ahead with that belief. But I digress... back to the game. The story is unbelievably well done. The gameplay mechanics are actually quite intuitive and innovative. I personally have had no issues whatsoever with my copies (both 360 and PS3) and they work fine. On the fanboyism side of things, no is no appreciable difference between the two consoles. If you are used to looking for differences, you will notice a slightly better lighting in the 360 version and the framerates appear slightly better in the PS3. The tearing I mentioned earlier seems more prevalent to occur on the 360 vs. the PS3 (not sure why...but I would assume that it is because this game was originally developed for the PS3 first and not just ported over). My personal opinion is that this is a game worth owning. Most people will not be disappointed with this purchase even if you are on a budget and can only buy so many games every so often. There is quite a bit of replay value given how the environment responds to your own actions. The only reason I give it a 4 out of 5 stars is because of the aforementioned MINOR flaws. UBISOFT is known for very poor ports (this is improving though) but you have to remember that it takes time to truly get used to programming for a system's abilities and take use of its full potential.

A great game...but annoying glitches

Well, I have to say that I think this is a amazing game. While no one game out there will please everyone, I think this one will please the majority.

To start with, the visual graphics are just simply beautiful. The visual distance is amazing, especially from the scenic view points spread throughout the game. The gameplay is nice for me...I really enjoy the climbing. You can practically climb anything that has a handhole on it.

The game plot and storyline are incredible. This is a very deep storyline that helps pull you into the universe of the game.

The only reason I didn't feel this game warranted 5 stars was due to the annoying freezes that happen far too often with this game. I have had 4 occasions where it froze, with one freeze happening during the loading screen where you can move your character around with the blue background. I could move him no problem, it is just that the game level never loaded.

There are great reviews on here that go into further detail but just be warned that until the update comes out to fix the glitches, this game is great but could be better. After that update, it will no doubt be a must have title for the PS3.

Sweet but short...

I'm not a huge gamer, to get that out form the start. So, I may not care about all of the technical items like others that have submitted reviews. I will say, though, that this game was a lot of fun. It may have it's repetitiveness, but to me it doesn't take away from the enjoyability. The environment is amazing, as well as the interaction with other characters.

I had only a few issues with this game. One being the length. I beat it very quickly considering I completed EVERY objective along the way, all the way to the disappointing ending. Yet still it only kept me playing for the past week. Another issue was a glitch that I experienced almost every time I started the game up fresh. After about two minutes of play, Altiar would freeze in time, usually on mid-jump. This forced me to restart my PS3 which got very annoying. The last annoyance was that you can't skip through storylines. So, every time you die, you have to listen to the same crap all the way through.

Nonetheless, AC3 provided me with exciting gameplay and I will look forward to the next two sequels.

Replay value a plus for an already awesome game.

This game is beautiful, surly the best stealth-action game of the year. Assassin's Creed is a must have for ANY gamer, as it's environments are extensive and extremely open, allowing for you to do practically anything at your own pace. The one problem I see with the game is that is tends to freeze every once in a great while, but that should not deter you from its addictive qualities. Assassin's Creed also has massive replay value, as you can go about your assassinations in any fashion you wish! Not only that, but after you get used to the gameplay, you can give it another go and only kill your targets to earn a special item, as it is said by creative director Patrice Desilets on page 54 of the Assassin's Creed Limited Edition Art Book.

Overhyped-but still great!

This is an action/adventure title in the truest sense of the word. There is certainly the stealth component in there, but it's not quite a prominent as the climbing, riding, and swordplay. My PS3 version has run flawlessly. I've not had any freezing, pop-ins, or frame rate issues. The environments are truly something to behold. The gameplay and controls work well. I wouldn't say it's the game of the year, but it definitely ranks right up there in the top 10 for 2007. I think, as with Halo 3, that most folks were mildly let down after all of the hype surrounding this game (game reviewers included). I can't think of anything that I really dislike about the game, but it's not quite as innovative as Ubisoft claimed it would be. I guess my one gripe is that the scifi twist occurred at the beginning of the game when it should have happened at the end. That would have made for a much more stunning and mind blowing experience.

Overall a great game

Overall, Assassin's Creed is a great game. The graphics are beautiful and the gameplay is good. At first, I was having a lot of trouble with the game freezing, but this has been remedied by the patch that was recently released by the developers. Yes, like other reviewers have said, the missions get a little repetitive after a while, but I still have fun climbing up walls, jumping from roof to roof and diving off towers into haystacks. In my opinion this is one of the better games that have been released so far for the PS3.

excellent

This game has interesting controls(easy to learn) and a great storyline, you can go almost anywhere, and ride horses, and (unlike Oblivion) you can fight on horseback ! You get to do the missions the way you want to.... alot of fun !

Good:
- Graphic and sound are really exciting.
- No predermined path that you have to follow.

Bad:
- I got the first release and there are a few bugs. It's ok with me.
- It's a bit too easy for my taste.

It's worth the money ($59.99 at the time I bought it).

Awesome!!!

This game ROCKS!!! Great detail! Awesome fighting moves! Great elaborate cities with tower views. He climbs buildings then jumps off of them into hay stacks, rides horses, eavesdrops and most importantly sneaks around assassinating specific people! What could be better?!!
