stuck on several games, i bought one of the first versions of the Game Shark 2...) only to find out Interact [messed] up and you then had to order an updated disc + S & H ...
I hear it's since been repackaged but it still [stinks] they released an unusable product and then screwed you for their mistake...otherwise the codes are still hit or miss depending of the release version of your PS2 and/or the game...but codes are always being updated on their website...
if you can't beat a game...it's a solution...otherwise save your $...towards a new game...

This does not actually give you codes, you have to go get them and add them. And Some of the codes may not even work! There is also a chance that it may accidentally delete everything on your memory card! If you have it i suggest saving everything on t wo memory cards just in case, good luck!

Gamesharks from the first one have been totally worthless and this one is no exception. They screw up the data on the games (saved games etc). They screw up the game itself (missing levels etc). They are overpriced and gameshark doesn't release half the codes they find. They can even screw up your whole system and even if they don't they make it so the system will lock up if it is moved at all. DO NOT buy this you will be very sorry you did.

This thing is great! It is a great buy for people who can't get passed a certain level, can't beat the boss, or just love to cheat. This isn't just a cheat device. It also lets you compress your PS2 game saves (works only on PS2 Memory Card). This way, if you don't have enough memory to save a game, you can compress your files without having to delete files or get a new card. The downside is that you have to uncompress the files before you can load it again. Then, though I have not tried it out, I belive it lets you play imported DVDs. When you want to use the GameShark2, you put the GameShark into the Memory Card slot (slot 2 is suggested, though it really doesn't matter), you put the PS2 CD in the PS2, choose your codes (you can also insert other codes you find elsewhere that are not already on the GameShark), and start the game!
That's not all the GameShark2 has to offer! It comes with another CD for PSOne games! It can be used on the PSOne also. The downside of it is that you have to have either the GameShark or GameShark Lite to save your codes. Other than that, this is a great product for cheaters or people who get stuck in games a lot.

I agree with the other reviewer that says that it doesn't work. I put it in and keeps saying that the gameshark is not detected. If you want to take a chance and buy this thing off ......, be careful.

This has to be the most important review for this system because it will help you decide if the PS2 is right for you. I brought mine back in November 2001 & it started malfunctioning in January. (ONLY AFTER 2 MONTHS!?!?) Now I'm not sure it it's my fault or sony's human error. On their part the diagnonsis function does NOT work & in my opinion I found it to have no function. What I did was buy the already upgraded gameshark 1.9 on an auction website & it started messing up after that. Besides that, Gameshark.com aka interact accs. tells up to use only their codes in which I did, I haven't used any codes out side gameshark.com.Some of their codes do NOT work but they self-rightously claim that their codes work 100%. I even told them that I triple check codes for validity! With my 1.4 version PS1 gameshark brought in March 1997 & upgraded to 3.2 in November 1998- My 1997 Playstation 1 lasted for 2 years (Until July 1999) before I got the 1999 version which lasted for another 2 years!! (Until August 2001) I think that this is sony's FK up as they built the Playstation 2 to resist the gameshark. Let me just say that as long as there are video game systems that there will also be gamesharks, but there should NOT be intentional malfuntions to snatch more $$ from the average consumer! Oh, but wait! Currently my playstation 2 still does play the regular blue disks but not the silver dvd roms or dvd movies!-This has been many dollars for my thoughts.. not including the other games that I brought & do not work. Sony should just drop the price of the console already because the original price was not worth it!
A great accessory that saves you time and frustrating

GameShark 2 let you enter codes that will unlock hidden features or give you extra bonus for PS2 games. New codes are added to their website each day and there are tons of them for each game. It is a great add on and will surely saves you tons of time and frustrating.
Couple bad things about it is that you need to use its CD to load it up each time and switch CDs to play the real game later. And inputting code using the controller can get hard when you have tons of code to enter. (Have everything cheat in FFX has about 40 lines of code to enter, each are 16 characters long), so if you use it often, you may consider buying the keyboard as well.

I am still waiting for the gameshark 2 that I payed for, it has been over 5 months now and I still never got it even though amazon insists that I did, I contacted some people several times and they are still trying to track it down, I am very disappointed that I had to pay for something I did not get and I am never using amazon again, it is too unreliable and would appreciate if amazon would stop emailing me.
