I just love this gamshark for my Playstation 2. It comes in great for games like Gran Turismo 3. This is bomb. It also has a disk for PS one games too. The only bad thing is that you have to spend eight bucks extra for the updated disk. oh well i think any gamer who gets tired of irritating levels should get this. its worth it. and hey its a great deal at this website too.I've seen this for 50 bucks at other websites and stores. get it from amazon.com

To all consumers that purchased a ps2 gameshark. I just recently bought one and mine didn't work either, so i called the makers of the gameshark and they told me basicly the same thing everyone else was told, and i have a ps2 system that has an older date code(bought when it first came out). So what I did was told it back and explained to the store manager what the problem was(whick gameshark is not compatible with my sytem and recieved my money back. If they refuse get a new one try it if itdoesnt work take it back again and again and again until they give you your money back.

Monkeys could've written better software. Don't waste your money. It's already been mentioned but Codebreaker is a FAR superior piece of software.
Basically the GS2 often takes 5 or 20 reboots of your console before it finally recognizes the software. Once you're in, it's anyones guess as to how stable the software is. Be prepared to be entering the zillionth code and have it crash on you.
Also, it doesn't always work. So also be prepared to finally finish entering the last code out of 100 of them. You put in your game and press X to play and the game doesn't start. Yes, one of the codes you just entered is causing the game to freeze. Now you have to try and find out which code is freezing it out of 100. Luckily you find it, and it's ofcourse the one code you actually REALLY wanted to use. Garbage.
Save your money!

This is a waste of money! This is the second Gameshark 2 that I've had. The first one lasted three months, it suddenly had mamorey loss and you couldn't save anything. The second one I got as a gift, this one lasted four days. This one I got a message saying: "Hardware Not Detected". Now ask yourself, is it worth spending fifty bucks to get a game enhancer that will most likely stop working a short time after you buy it? Just look at the other reviews, I'm not the only one that's had problems.

The box never said that it wouldn't work with newer versions of PS2 and I would have to buy an $8 upgrade disk. The upgrade should be free!!!
If you cannot finish FFX, buy this.

After spending over 70 hours before the last save sphere in FFX, I was stuck for over a week. Every day I spent hours trying to beat the final aeon, but no luck. I was very upset and frustrated. Then I thought of gameshark. Because of some negative comments, I was skeptical at first. But I beat FFX the same day I received the gameshark 2. You cannot imagine how happy I was. Get this if you are stuck.

Ok, so it worked for a little while, but then after a while it wouldn't work anymore. The... thing would say that the card or the disc wasn't inserted, and I did have them both in there. One time I was typing in some new codes when all of a sudden it froze up. So, I resetted the PS2 just to find that it erased all the codes. Both the ones that were already on there when I bought it and the ones I typed in were gone. It seems like a lot of InterAct products... except for the Dreamcast gameshark. If you want something that will help you out with games or just make them more fun, get the codebreaker. The gameshark is just a waste of money.

I have recently just purchased the gs2, and not even a month old, while typing in a new code for resident evil(veronica) the system said error please reset to defaults or shut off your system. i followed both commands, and the damn thing took all the preloaded games off the gs2, and now i can't save or load anything. whats the deal with this thing, do i have a glitch, and most of all will i be getting a new one from the company?

i've read alot of purchasers saying the gameshark 2 for the ps2 is a bad investment. if you asked me 2 years ago i would have agreed. through owning one original gameshark and all the version up grades (3 so far) i've found that it depends on both the version of your gameshark and your ps2. the first ps2 i bought died a year after i got it, i still don't know what happened but it wasn't the gameshark, it was hardware. the second one has last a year and is running great even with a gameshark plugged in all the time. be smart, read as much as possible on every purchase, and ask the people who own them and you can get the right information to figure out if this is an investment you're willing to make. point 1: the first two gameshark 2 versions were crap. the stalled out all the time, erased your memory card, and never played any code except the ones from the factory. version 3 was the first one with the keyboard and had absolutely no problems. point 2: the people that say the codes don't work now are using version 4 codes on a version 3 gameshark, more than likely. if you want something to stay away from i can give it, the non-sony memory codes are worthless, they will erase your memory when taken from their ports. there, i've given alot of ideas on what to do to keep your bum covered, have a great day.
A must-have item for PS2 gamers!!!!!

The GameShark2 can be either useful or detrimental. While I own one, I personally try to do as much as I can with each game, then turn to the GS2 if I get stuck, or want to restart the game without starting at the VERY beginning (such as in skipping the license tests in Gran Turismo 3); in these cases, the GS2 is useful. Of course, those who buy a game, enter in every GS2 code imaginable, and start cheating immediately have fallen into the GS2's detrimental grip.
The only main drawback to the GameShark2 is the inability to enter in numbers and some symbols when adding new games and codes. Of course, this probably forces customers to buy the SharkBoard, which is compatible with GameShark2 Version 1.4 or later.
