A BIG LET DOWN! BUT STILL A AWSOME GAME!

Okay, first off, when I played the first version of this game on the Seaga Cd version I practicly fell in love with it! It was one of my favorite games of all time!! When I herd that Working Designs came out with a new version of Lunar, I just had to buy it! But was dissapointed in several areas! For one, you got wayy more spells on the Sega Cd version! The story line was better! And the music was better! And the gameplay hours are about the same. However, the Graphics are better on this one and it has wayyy more cartoons! THATS IT! I love this game, but Working Designs didin't put enouph effort into it! You think they would at least put out a way better version on Playstation but oviously it was just a quick process to make a few bucks! But it is a good game and I would recomend it! The enemys are more chalanging then most RPGS, and the voice programing is awsome! PLuse the battle systum rocks! But I wish the story line was as good as the old one......

A few months ago I was going into supreme RPG withdrawal. FF8 was still far away. I had to get my hands on an RPG so I bought Lunar. Man, was I disappointed. Everyone will probably jump on me for thinking so, but Lunar is subpar. I keep hearing everyone say how great the old school RPGs were. They WERE good, but FOR THEIR TIME. Now that I'm older I realize how trite a lot of them were. Lunar is no exception. Poor graphics (they DO matter, they help to form a convincing and beautiful world for the adventure to take place in), corny voice-over(the first meeting with Kyle made me want to vomit), lame jokes (Kyle is drunk...funny), stereotyped personalities, the lame overwrought melodrama. Ghaleon was fruity-bad, Kefka was fruity-good. The only thing I liked was the very strategic and challenging battles, but they quickly become as boring as Squaresoft's relative missteps. There are practically NO secrets in this game. Finding information and talking to people in towns is a lengthy and boring chore. This game is okay, but a lot of people want to sound like experts and trash the new-school RPGs. Don't believe them and go for something original, not a rehash of what was good a couple years ago.

Disapointment

FOr anyone who has played the original SegaCd version, we all know this game was entirely a disapointment. The lack of the amazing original soundtrack and the subtle changes in story line ruined this game for me.

Alex idolizes Dragonmaster Dyne, greatest of the Four Heroes responsible for saving the world from destruction. He wishes that one day he can be like Dyne and become a great Dragonmaster. He sets out on an adventure to White Dragon's Cave with is lifetime friends: Luna, Nall (a baby white dragon), and Ramus. He thinks that his life has no significance in what the future holds for the world of Lunar, but he soon realizes that everything he has known since birth is entirely false. Ghaleon, Dyne's best friend in his travels, is not quite what he appears to be. Also, a man named the Magic Emperor has recruited the help of the Vile Tribe (the species banished by the Goddess, Althena 500 years before hand) to kidnap all of the singers that populate the world looking for the one singer that was born on Dyne's last day of life. Little does Alex know, but one of his closest friends is the next target of the Magic Emperor. Alex now must find the courage and power within his own heart to prevent a great disaster from happening.

This game is awesome but I (unfortunatly) played lunar 2 first so I knew who the bad guy in this game was *sigh*. It took some of the fun out, but it was still good. The graphics however were not so great but this game was origanaly on the sega cd. My favorite charactor was denfinatly Ghaleon! If you play lunar 2 you'll understand. The gameplay graphics are undated but the anime graphics were awesome. The story was very very good and the voices for the charactors were perfect, and yes Ashley Angel is the voice of Alex the main charator.( tho, I didn't really care!!) The girl charactors kick butt, finally some girls who aren't scared D.I.D's.!! So if you haven't played lunar yet do it as fast as you can, which might take a long time since it's ridiculously hard to find ( I got mine used from half.com, no offence amazon!!)Lunar 2 on the other hand is fairly easy to find on the internet. (I got mine from amazon.com)

It's simply not very true to the original. The game felt more like a total remake than a port to another system. There are far too many little changes in the places and plotlines. Sadly the graphics and sound are actually worse than the Sega CD version and the menus are terribly designed compared to the original simpler configuration. Had one never played the original this would be a great great game, but for anyone looking to relive the good old days its just not going to do the job for you.

Are you people insane!!!

I normally don't like trashing games, but with a game this bad that people are saying is one of the best RPGs of all time, I'm sorry but I can't stand by and watch things like that being said. I don't see how people can even put this game on the same level as the Chrono's or the Final Fantasies or XENOGEARS!!! So since most people who play this game seem to have a brain tumor, I'll ease into the worst aspects of the game and start with the graphics and music. Now the only reason these can't be considered god-aweful is because this game is a re-release of an older one, so the 16-bit graphics and music that sounds like Windows having a nervous breakdown are excuseable. Now the battle system is a different story. It is the most unoriginal battle system ever. Attack, defend, item, magic. Wow, how riveting. The only plus is that each character has his own unique spells and you can earn extra physical attack hits by leveling. But even with the unique spells, the game once again takes an unoriginal turn by going to the exciting level-spell system(gain a level get a spell). Also, there are virtually no side quests in the entire game. So all the best armor and weapons are easily obtained. Now most of these things are usually excusable, as long as the story can make up for the loss. So logically, Lunar must have a good story. Let me put it this way, after the first few hours I could predict the rest of the game. The story was so boring and easily predited that the only reason i finished the game was in the hope that i could be wrong and maybe the plot would make a twist or turn...or even a bend of some sort. But my efforts were of no avail. Even the characters were boring. The best written characters are those that you end up caring for and worrying about. In Lunar, all I could think about was how unimportant these characters were. Actually the plot would be exactly the same if every character except for the two leads and the main enemy were not even in the game. How can you love a character that is only in the game to take up a place in the battle order. In every RPG I have ever played I have always been able to find an upside or at least something about the game that was done well. The only thing I enjoyed about Lunar was the pong-like mini game you get to play(no this wasn't part of the actual game but it was on one the cd's). So I guess what I'm trying to say is...THIS GAME SUCKS!!!
