This game is fun for 10 minuets. Infact, that's how much fun it is. 10 minuets. Then it becomes one of the most tedious puzzelers and action game I have ever play. You start to notice things, why can't you aim down, why do you just solve these 'tough' puzzels by finding object, then finding door/thing to use this object with. It's basicly MYST exept in a third person mode and with zombies to shoot. Sound? You want good sound, then you must not buy this game. There is absolutely no soundtrack, well nothing that you could make an album of. Just songs that are 10 seconds long. Then the sound, well, the guns sound great, but then again, the zombies sound like Homer Simpson. It's not that they are moaning, thats could, but that they don't even sound like they been dead, just like whoever did the vioces must've been bored. The multiple layers of letterboxing in the cutscene and how the quality differs from cutscene to cutscene distubs me. Then the blood and the gore? A zombies don't have blood. They are dead, now mabey they do, but they are decaying people. Then the police station. Since when do police stations have libraies. Huh, what, are the police going to read War and Peace while fighting criminals? Then, you start to wonder, why is this police station the UBERSTATION! It has everything from a water tank to even an area that seems like an victorian era attic. Realizm doesn't and has not matter to me. But the far out stuff does bother me. So if you want to play a game in which the puzzles are find key\object and use it in door\another object, have something that's to far out, and only has a good background story, then fine, play this. But if you want a good game, with a better storyline, try the original.
This game STINKS!

I was introduced to the first game by a friend, I thought the game was really weird and stupid, but I wanted to play the game. When I found out a second game was coming out,I saved money for a playstation and a copy of RE2.I enjoyed it at first but it got boring fast with repetitive zombies, awful sound effects and a mediocre story line. The characters don't walk, but rather they slide across the floor and the characters are rather stiff walking.I would rent this game before buying, or get dreamcast with RE:Code Veronica, that is a great game.
More of the same, only a bit better.

This game has a few interesting features, such as the dual scenario, specially that mysterious bald man haunting you, and the two secret mini games.
But the fatal mistake this game commits, is the most ignored by most people, and unfortunately, RE3 follows the same path. (I can't comment over Code Veronica for I haven't played it) The linear plotline follows the following structure: Guy arrives to some place and discovers myriads of creatures, guy locks himself somewhere, guy discovers there is traitor among the survivors,(Irons) guy discovers a secret lab under (or within) the main structure (in this case, the RPD), guy makes it through and discovers unthinkable truths, guy fights big monster while the clock is ticking, guy needs to run and save his life before the whole place goes *BANG!* It drives me sick.
I'm sorry RE fans, but it's the truth.(or my opinion, whatever that you wish) Flashy graphics and awesome features do not sum up a great game. Play it for the fun-of-the-first-play factor alone and move over to something better, because this game has nothing of scary.
okay game not my favorite in the series but still fun!

well the storyline is somewhat mediocre the controls are well unforgiveble another is leon is such a an idiot he does not have what it takes to be a cop claire is just well a ditz
her voice when she talks is just well annoying
but the graphics are what carries this game through they are well ahead of it's time the zombies look real and so do the umbrella
corporation mutations thank god they took out the hunters in this game i got sick of them after awhile
the weapons are pretty kool
the magnum is devestating as usual
but as for replay value i will not play this again

Resident evil 2 has better graphics and control than the original and as you play through the game 2 or 3 times the storyline changes so when you play it the first time and you see a empty building the second time you play through the same building could be filled with zombies. This and loads of other secerts to earn will have you playing the game for months
Better than the original, and just as good as the 3rd...

In Resident Evil 2, a horror/action/adventure game, you are Leon, a rookie cop who is out to eliminate the G-virus, a disease that mutates people into horrible, flesh-eating zombies. There are two discs, one where you play as Leon, and one where you play as Claire, the sister of the original RE's hero, Chris Redfield. This is my 2nd favorite since Resident Evil 3 came out, but now that it's a "Greatest Hit", it's an even better buy.
Cool, But Too Easy!

This game is cool! But, there is a flaw, IT'S TOO EASY! There is no challenge because there is not enough zombies, the game goes like this.... find 1 or 2 zombies, put a few bullets in their heads, and boom, they're dead. I liked the parts where there are more than 2 zombies, it gives me a challenge and there is more blood than you would usually see. But great game, great story, not enough zombies.
Best RE game overall

I would give it ****1/2 but that's not an option.
I have to say that this is the best RE game out of all four so far. It's better looking and more story oriented than RE 1, more challenging than RE 3, and more fun than all of them.
I especially like how William Birkin is constantly changing forms. The whole crew of G-Virus monsters just rules.
Also, this game is challenging (Though not as much as the first one), fun, scary, and packed with extras, making it great for all gamers.
This game should be bought, or at least rented and renewed about 10 times.
Evil is every where and who can stop it?

If you thought that R.E. 1 was great, the second installment is even better. With a better array of weapons you can ward off the legions of the undead and even a SECRET weapon that can burst more than 1 zombies head at a time. The only thing I disliked was the constant puzzles that it presents you and you have to solve.
