Puts Soul Calibur to Shame!

This is one of the most exciting games I've ever had the joy of playing. The graphics go BEYOND the excellence of soul calibur. This is a MUST OWN for any Dreamcast owner. It has so many modes and the graphics are beyond describing with words. Move over, Soul Calibur, and make way for your betters! DOA2 rocks the arena!

Pure hand-to-hand

I recently played the demo. *WOW* If you want more intricate combat, go to your closest dojo. The combo system is so advanced, you actually have to reverse your opponents combos to get a hit in. No more cowering in the corner blocking your face with your armpit while time runs out. Come with your best shot or get laid out like I did in 10 seconds. Characters and arenas are beautiful, Soul Calibur..uhh...calibur, with way more flex appeal (more bounce than a Dr. Dre video). Definitely the next 3-D fighter you buy, or the first. Those Tae-Bo videos can wait for another day.

Superior Graphics and Gameplay

This game is the definitive game for the Sega Dreamcast. This game truely shows the potential of the system, and surpasses all games in graphics and gameplay. It's incredible. The arena's are huge, the movement and camera angles are perfect, and the characters are interesting. This game is a must have for anyone, even if you don't like fighter games. I'd buy it just for the intro.

Great Gameplay, Hot Babes!

This game shows off the awesome potential of the Dreamcast platform more than any other game. Graphically, it is superior to even the mighty Soul Calibur. The fighters themselves are beautifully rendered. The physics are very realistic. Best of all, there are not stupid "magic powers," such as in Mortal Kombat. It is just pure fighting, with lots of unexpected surprises. The characters look like thay could inspire a new computer graphic anime genre. If you like fighting games, click that order button now!

Only Second to Soul Calibur

If you bought Soul Calibur you owe it to yourself to buy this game. I just bought it today and it totally rocks. I hope to place a more detailed review of it with movies and pictures on my website tonight. E-mail me if you want to know the url. I strongly feel that this game is the current game that shows the Dreamcast's power. The only other 2 previous games the showed what the Dreamcast could really do power-wise was NFL2K and Soul Calibur. This game is the 3rd so go get a copy now!

BEAUTIFUL.... but there isn't enough to do!

Ok, the graphic are... AWESOME... outstanding, the levels are cool too, but there is simply not enough to do. The main "story" option is only 5 battles long (and no, the battles aren't best two out of three like most fighters, it's just one fight)! and there are umm, 8 characters I think. So after 40 battles you've seen it all. Sure there are tag and survival modes, but those are just for show, and you only get to play on one level for both. And no, there are ZERO extras, no hidden characters, and nothing special happens no matter how you beat the game. It's a shame really, because I still like the game...

The greatest looking game on the dreamcast!

Bottom line, this game is gorgeous. From the moment I fired this bad boy up I knew I was in for a treat. In my opinion, DOA2 graphically surpasses soul calibur, and has a deeper fighting engine. However, as good as this game is, it is plagued by a lack of motivation to beat over and over. The story of the game isn't explained too well, and thus far, nobody on the internet has found anything to unlock by defeating it, leaving the consumer with no hidden fighters, costumes, or even an art gallery! By purchasing this game, you are doing so because u want a quality fighter. Nothing more. It's very similar to fighters of ten years ago such as the original street fighter on the super nintendo. It's a great fighter, but don't expect to be rewarded with anything after beating it except the satisfaction of kicking your friend's behinds. If you had to choose between soul calibur and DOA2, I'd tell u to choose soul calibur, simply for its depth and hidden extras. If you already own soul calibur, then I highly recommend DOA2. However, if you only have 50 dollars to spend on a game over the next few months, and are looking for something new to run on the console, I'd wait fifteen more days for resident evil : code veronica. Sure, it is a completely different genre, but your gonna get a more bang for your buck. If u have the cash to spend, then you have to own this game. It is a welcome addition to your dc library. Peace!

My fighting-game dream come true!

I've been playing games since before I could talk, and I have lived among games ever since. I have seen good and bad, seen revolutions, and hoped for the future. My picture of video game utopia has come one step closer, with Dead or Alive 2. Ever since I played video games, this was the ultimate outcome I wanted from the fighting game genre. This -IS- the best 3D fighting game available now, and in my opinion easily topples Tekken Tag, Virtua Fighter 3, Soul Calibur, Fighting Vipers, and other similar games from the elusive top.

On this GigaDisc are excellent character design, wonderful cinematography, incredible drama (for a fighter), superb music that enhances the whole experience, good voice acting, and simply the best background-visuals imaginable. You simply have to see the stages to believe it. All of this and it plays as well as the original, with all of the innovations and improvements you would expect from experts like Namco or Sega. Tecmo is the new king, for now. Hopefully they do their best to beat it, and hopefully the genre will improve further. Either way, this is a game that any gamer must have, to experience it and have a piece of history.

Dead or Alive 2 is pretty impressive....

Dead or Alive 2 beautifully showcases what the Dreamcast hardware is capable of. It is a magnificent, hard-hitting, hand-to-hand combat game. Each fighter has distinctive moves, and the fighting sequences rock with explosive, in-your-face action. The characters perform some nasty, wicked moves that any fighting fan will enjoy immensely, and the tag-team mode is a welcome addition for some wild and furious fun.

Dead or Alive 2 is very easy to play for gamers of all levels, and has good depth. The only thing that requires mastery is the counter move (when you can take an attacking opponent and pull a reversal on him). You need absolute precision and timing to pull this off, and when it happens, it happens very quickly. When you fight against the CPU, they counter quite a bit, and if you just stand there and block, they always will grab and throw you so you have to react quickly.

The graphics in this game are very nice, and the characters are huge and nicely-detailed. But the added advantage of this game is because of the babe factor. Quite simply, Dead or Alive 2 has the most attractive female characters of any game thus far. But beware all potential buyers: this game is not afraid to show a lot of panty shots. You'll find yourself amazed and shaking your head when you see the many revealing shots that come about during play! I find it really amusing and peverted how in one instance when you have a female character such as Kasumi under a vent and with a blast of air from underneath, up goes her skirt. These game designers really have the male audience in mind, that's for sure, which isn't a bad thing. The sex factor alone makes Dead or Alive 2 stand out, but luckily it has all the other right incredients to be a monster hit for Tecmo. Forget about Tekken Tag Tournament coming for PS2; get Dead or Alive 2 now for Dreamcast!
