As a SOUL CALIBUR fanatic, I have to say DEAD OR ALIVE 2 is a weak alternative. There are lots of cute, scantily clad women with, well, you know what they have...but swinging mammaries doesn't necessarily make a great game.
There are some neat differences between the two games, like the multi-level arenas, the edges which cause damage, and the continuous flow team battle mode, but still, I found myself always thinking it wasn't nearly as good as SOUL CALIBUR.
The graphics are definitely worth checking out, though.
Now, if someone where to make a DEAD OR ALIVE 2 Movie...that'd be something I'd probably recommend! ;)
Excellent game at first.

This game graphically is as good as Soul Calibur. When you buy this game at first you'll think there's so many modes of play that you'll never get bored. But you're wrong. After you beat all the modes about 50 times it starts to get boring. So, if your thinking about buying it, just rent it.
I'm not really a fighting game fan, but...

This is just another awesome game with spectacular graphics. I absolutely love playing it with my friends. The fighting engine is deep, and it is both easy and intricate. I loved it. My only complaint is that, unfortunately, it is a little short. But there is plenty of replay value. Buy this unless you don't like fighting games (why are you even reading this, then?) But, even if you don't like fighting games, this might convert you.
This Game Kicks!

DoA2 is by far the best fighting game out for the Dreamcast. Amazing graphics, amazing moves, and amazing cinemas! The only downside is that most people say that the game gets old real fast. No secrets or extras make the game's replayablity very low, but I don't find this a problem, and it isn't if you have friends to come play with you in the tag-team mode(the best feature). I'm sure any person who likes fighting games would love this game.

this games graphics are amazing, the characters on the most part interesting. the fighting is very well done and it doesn't take ages to be able to fight decently. the games downfall to me is there appears to be nothing new when you get through it. the stories are not well explained and the end fmv are short and not very exciting, especially compared to what tekken has done. but the fighting part of the game is amazing and worth every cent. i just hope that if they do a dead or alive 3 that there will be some extras.
This is a great game.

I have been a fighting game player for practically forever and own this games big rivals namely Soul Calibur and VF2. I would like to say that this game has a rare synthesis of both games. It possesses the realistic type of fighting that VF2 enjoys, as well as adding some flair and punch that makes Soul Calibur so much fun. This game has it all, great action, great realism, and great graphics.
I love this Game

This is the coolest fighting game ever. This game, I still play. I love it lots. It's the starter for the DOA3. Without DOA2, DOA3 wouldn't be that great. Good game, and I don't really know what else to talk about, except that it's cool to kick people out of windows, and EIN is the coolest in the game.

dead or alive 2 is a great game! it has awesome graphics and tons of players and fighting moves to choose from. although the game (to me) is a bit short in story mode, as all of the players i believe have 8 levels and always have the same boss(evil tengu), it makes up for it with its multiple modes and great multi player action. there are also many cheats for this game. you'll soon learn that each character has different statistics and some characters are better than others.it is worth what you pay.
Very nice game!!

Well, in this world of Playstation 2 mania, it's nice to know that games like this can hold their own. This ranks up there with Soul Calibur and Tekken TagTeam (Actually it beats Tekken because it adds the "multi-level" element that Tekken lacks).
The girls and the skimpy clothing are of course a nice touch. The Tag Team battles are INTENSE, and the frame rate excellent. The character rendering on Soul Calibur still wins out, but the multi-tiered levels, ... make up for it.
Admit it, you're just interested in the girls

In my opinion, this game had potential. It has great visuals, and a deep move list, but it fell on it's face by the lack of smooth, seamless control, or even a storyline to say the least. There are very few "extras" to supplement the game, and all in all, it seems like a hyped but rushed product.
But most people's attention to this game is brought by the visuals, or more specifically, the well-above average chest sizes of the women, and how they move so much. Hasn't Tecmo ever heard of sports bras?
Soul Calibur exceeds this game in every way possible, with the exception maybe in the total number of moves per fighter that are possible. The visuals of both are top notch, but Soul Calibur's seems more "real" why Dead or Alive's seems more like CG-graphics, with less polish. The lighting of DoA2 isn't up to par. The said "extras" of Soul Calibur are deep, giving you tremendous replay value, where DoA2 has very little, if any. I'm sure the few DoA2 fans would like it even more if there was a character profile (especially for the women). And last, the control response of the players seems delayed, and kind of jerky. Fighters don't go from one to another very fluidly, and it looks like actual computer fighting, rather than real pros, as in SC. So, if you want a top notch fighting game, get Soul Calibur. It blows away Dead or Alive 2.
