Who cares about graphics anyway?

I don't care who you are, if you have a pulse, you'll love this game. Some people say it's good except for the graphics. So what if when you shoot the bad guys their arm doesn't fly off spraying blood everywhere, it's got great gameplay. Also, people should think of when this was made. Back then, these graphics were great.
Anyway, this game rules. That's the easiest way to put it. The graphics are cool, and there's NO GORE AT ALL. This is a truly classic game that doesn't have to rely on blood to get your attention. There is a very large array of weapons. There is only one that isn't too appealing. The music comes in a variety of styles, from gloomy and depressing to fast paced get-the-heck-out-of-there type music. The play control is great, and the fact that it's so easy to get used to it very quickly just adds to the quality. The cheats that you can activate are awesome, from paintball guns to being invisible. The gameplay value is through the roof. If I had to rate this game 1-10, 10 being the best, this game would get a 73!!! I don't care who, or what you are, this game is a must have!

One of the BEST N64 games!

Goldeneye is a very fun game. I haven't played it again. I'm saving up to rent it to see what kind of game it is. Last time I played it was about 5+ years ago! Here's some good 3 player ideas:

The Movie
-----------
Best with 3 players. (Player 1-James. Player 2-Natalya. Player 3-anybody). Get a level with stairs and a second floor. Put player(1) facing player(3). Player(2)will be threatened by player(3) that he/she's gonna shoot Natalya. James will point to player(3) and say, "Put the gun down!". Player(3) will then lower gun. Player(2) will dash and karate-chop player(3). Players (1 and 2) will both be karate chopping player(3). Player(3) wil dash down stairs, leaving a remote mine. Player(2) will dash down steps, then blow up. Player(1) will stop shortly, then run after player(3). Then, player(3) bends down, guilty, when Natalya comes back followed by many chops. And Player(3) gives up.
----------------------------------------

That's one of the things you can make by the multi-player. The game will be great, but, the blood is the only problem. Blood only appears on the clothing, like patches. It's not like you shoot and the red stuff flies around the place. And voilence, too. But, besides those things, it'll be a ball. I'd recommend this, but young kids may find it disturbing. Ages 10 and up may be not offended. Somebody mentioned you can blow heads off? Or was it a joke!? Oh, dear! I HOPE NOT!!! Anyway, rent it first to se if it's too violent. If you like it and the violence is fine, buy it!

this rocks

I love this game it's great. It's really fun. My favorite mission is the Runway where you get to drive the tank around. But be carefull! There are lots of bad guys. I'd recommend this game for children 9 and up.

I've put more hours into this game than I think is possible to keep track of.

This game was certainly a welcome addition to the N64. When I first got this game as a kid, I was so excited because I loved James Bond. Luckily this is one of the few licensed games that will not smash your hopes and dreams, even more so, it goes far beyond what you could have hoped for. The graphics were great at the time. The soundtrack was straight out of the movie, which is good in my opinion. They really captured the essence of James Bond in this game, more than they have in any other James Bond game, and lets be honest here, a couple of the crappier movies as well. It also follows the storyline of the movie itself pretty well, but they still allowed themselves room to make the game a little more fun. There are tons of guns, and a couple neat gadgets as well. This game essentially perfected multi player for a shooter on a console at the time. That, on top of the campaign being so good it makes you want to play it over and over again on different difficulties, not only gives this game a bunch of re-playability, but is also the reason this game stands out so much, and is considered by nearly everyone as one of the best shooters out there.

I have fond memories of this game, and still get together to play it with friends.
Before GoldenEye, first person shooters were primarily PC affairs, played with a keyboard and mouse, and multiplayer required either internet or network capabilities, which, at the time, I didn't have. GoldenEye changed this. Just like Mario Kart, you could get four players hooked in. Except instead of bumping Bowser off a race track, you were running around and laying down the heat as Bond, or one of his allies/antagonists. There are plenty of modes, arenas, and weapons to choose from, ranging from deathmatch to 'flag tag'. And once in a while you have to play with "slappers only."

In addition to the Multiplayer aspects, it has an excellent Single-Player mode. It's mission objective based (meaning that failure is entirely possible), and as difficulty increases, so do the number of objectives and conditions you have to fulfill.

The music is also notable. Sure it's entirely synhtesized/MIDI, but in those days, that was the state of the art. The music fits the scenes pretty well, mostly being varied riffs on the classic John Barry Bond theme, some being a little different.

The game contains a nice variety of weapons and plenty of secrets to unlock ( by speedrunning levels while fulfilling all objectives).

Whether you've never played this classic or you're looking back on the 'good old days', you should play it. This
is Rare's N64 Masterwork ( Perfect Dark is pretty sweet, too).
