"Goldeneye 007", at first glance, looks like yet another installment into the tired and outdated "First-Person" shooter game genre. The big suprise is that it is so much more than a standard shooter or a bog standard movie translation.
In a word, "Goldeneye" is amazing. It takes full advantage of the 64 bit technology and delivers a smooth, fun, and challenging adventure. You assume the role of James Bond, the secret agent who needs no introduction. You run through various missions, which tie into the movie, and solve various problems and perform various tasks. What complicates things is the number of guards who are ready to kill you on sight. As expected, you have a number of weapons at your disposal, from the silenced pistol and machine gun, to the grenade launchers and high-powered explosives. The first-person perspective adds amazing realism to this game, with action and controls that are as smooth as James Bond's charm.
The graphics are phenominal, with smooth movements and amazing scenery. This game really makes you feel like you are living the adventures. The music is right out of a Bond movie, and adds a nice edge to the action. The controls, usually quite clunky on that horrible N64 controller, are easy to manage here. After a while it becomes like second nature.
For parents considering this game for their children, they should be aware of the violence. Much of the game is spent killing people, and the realism is striking. It is up to you, but this is an excellent game that can be quite addictive.
Great game!

This is your basic complete the tasks and get to the next level game. A good thing to remember is that it is much better to be quiet than to go in blasting. This was the first game that we bought and still enjoy playing it 6 years later.

I still get this game out. Everything is ideal, if they can't recreate this it will be a shame. N64 ruled in the old days, this and Mario were so amazingly fun, it was constant, you could play for months on end and still love it to death while finding something entirely new and exciting.
This never got old or worked out of rotation

GoldenEye became the steeple for how the Bond series was going to be and I'm glad that it was because for me, I could never get tired of this game because of it's awesome challenges, graphics, gameplay and of course the gore factor (very bloody game. Maybe a no for younger gamers, but for those of us older gamers, a definite).
Level after level, this game played almost to a T like the movie and you got to use all of Bond's weapons from his magnum to a bazooka, to grenades and plastic explosives and of course, the one hit kill Golden Gun.
This also had the perfect multi player vs mode in the history of the 64 system. Where else could you blow up 3 of your friends with a bazooka at the same time (if you were lucky enough to stumble upon them shooting it out with each other).
GoldenEye has never left my 64 rotation and again, I still love to play the multi player when my friends come over. I will again stress to those of us who are parents (like myself) that you should maybe think otherwise if you have some young gamers because it is very violent and very bloody. For those of you without that restriction, go wild and get this game. You won't be disappointed.
The early defining N64 game

Back in the days when the N64 was struggling, the system needed a game to surface it above the perverbial water. Let's travel back to August of 1997. The N64 was just under a year old and many people wonder where the games were. By the time the N64 celebrated its first year on Earth, people were engrossed with the new, great game, Goldeneye 007.
Goldeneye, in my mind, ranks as the best console FPS ever created. The cinematics, animations, gadgets, guns. and multiplayer all had people yearning for more and gobbling up N64's in the process. Goldeneye has also become the benchmark on which most FPS, let alone console ones, are based on, both by single and multi-player modes.
The only crutch in Bonds' leg is the graphical representation and framerate. You cannot hold Goldeneye plainly accountable becuase very few N64 games ran smooth as silk. The game is not a classic yet, just a "modern" classic. Come four or five years now, we will be dusting off our N64's to play this.
Best game ever? It's possible, very possible.

What can be said about Golden Eye 64 that hasn't already been said? Probably very little, however, I still feel the intense need to give my two cents.
Graphics - 10/10
Superb would be an understatement when describing this title's graphics, especially for a FPS. Every mission, every friend and foe, every weapon, shall I continue? It's all beyond bewildering with it's appearance given the limited DPM (dots per matrix) the N64 has to offer.
Finger Friendly - 10/10
Easily the best finger friendly game that's ever been on the market. No debate here.
Ear Pleasing 8/10
Great, but not exactly flawless. The mission sounds are nice, and the weapons sound effects are perfect. All in all, the music and sound effects coincide the game's theme pretty well.
Theme/Fun - 10/10
With or without a fellow playmate, good luck coming across a single game with a higher level of enjoyment. This classic of classics will easily withstand the test of time, and still to this day, it's the best game I've ever played. Enough said.
Storyline - 10/10
Another flawless aspect of the game. If you've played and beaten the game through the Cradle stage, don't waste your time watching the movie if you haven't already.
Freshness - 10/10
Today, I still play this game. Golden Eye 64 was releaed fresh, and still to this day it's fresher than 50% of the games on the market for the next gen systems.
Challenge - 10/10
Golden Eye 64 can be enjoyed by beginning gamers, up to the more elite video game enthusiast. The different settings of agent modes make this possible. One of the more challenging games in video gaming history.
Multiplayer - 10/10
The best multiplayer game ever. If you've played the game with competitive players, you know exactly the extent of my claim.
Replay Value - 10/10
A Greenlander who owns the only N64 console on the island with no friends could suck more replay value from this game than one could TheSims. Yes, it's that damn intriguing.
Overall - 10/10
Read above.

My N64, it acts like a rock sitting right there under my tv. I bought a total of 8 count em 8 games on this pathetic system (I have what about 60 for my computer). But this game made me believe that a good shooter could be made on consoles (although very few of the ports from pc to consoles are, usually the original games for the consoles are good.)Of those 8 games I have, this one is worth about 10. The makers of this game are geniuses and have spread that on to other games like the timesplitters series (if there is any game that will make me buy a gamecube, besides metroid prime, it IS timesplitters 2. It is a master peace that will be lived on in my memories and it will remain stuck in my damn cartrage slot of my forgotten n64, or it would be forgotten, if not for this game
ONE OF THE BEST GAMES I EVER PLAYED

This gem from Rareware ,for the Nintendo 64 platform, is a lot of fun. It has very challenging missions and some pretty cool weapons to use. If you complete certain missions in a specified time you will be able to use cheat codes. The games multi level difficulty will make certain missions a real pain but highly rewarding when completed. Buy it, you will not be disappointed

This game is the best game ever and it always will be. Its exactly like the movie because it has the same characters, same levels (or in the movie's case settings), and the same and even more weapons. My favorite weapon is the sniper rifle. It also has a multiplayer where you can be diffrent charactors other than Bond like: Natalya, Trevelion, Xenia, Orumov, Valentine, and Mishkin. If you have seen the movie you probably know who these charactors are. The graphics are impressive, for the year it was released anyway. And on multiplayer they have diffrent levels. If you are into shooting games then this is definitely the game for you.
