Ghost Recon is a welcome break from death match, you-must-be-on-speed-to-keep-up type games. Instead of pulling a trigger and running around until you kill someone, this game forces you to develop detailed strategies to accomplish your tasks. The action you do encounter (and there is plenty) is intensified by the fact the stakes are much higher -- a couple of bullets or a well-placed grenade takes you out of the game. This forces you to develop a properly planned and well executed course of action.
The game is squad based. During single player mode, you play one of six soldiers and can switch between them at any time. Your player leads one squad of three, and you set a course of action for the other squad which is controlled by AI. As you complete missions and tasks, you unlock addition items such as new soldiers to choose from. Surviving missions also increases soldier skill.
Ghost Recon has significant replay value. It has 15 levels and 50 different tasks to complete, but because there are so many strategies that can be used to complete a level, they can be played numerous times with the same enjoyment level. Of course, on-line play adds tremendous replay and excitement.
In my opinion, the mark of a good game is how quickly time slips by while you are playing. Time after time I have intended to wrap up in 10 minutes only to find that an hour has passed. This is a fantastic game.
I do have a few complaints. The graphics are generally good, but can be on the choppy side at times. I have also experienced instances where the AI squad didn't do what I had mapped out. But, for the most part, the game is a welcome addition to my game library.

I recently played the demo for ghost recon on pc. I thought that it was a great game. It is the best army game i have ever played, and one of the best shooters. The graphics are really sweet but the movment isnt that great. The enemys move poorly but that is my only complaint with this game. Its great. What you do basicly is construct an A team and a B team and control one of the teams to compleat the objectives. So you have 6 lives because you can switch people everytime you die. The game itself it hard at first but when you get the hang of it its great. If you are looking for a great war game choose this. In my opinion and in all of my freinds opinions, this game is better then Medal Of Honor: Frontline. As an owner of Frontline i am not saying it is a bad game but i think that Ghost Recon is much much better. This game is a must have for the holidays.

Just a Great game:
great graphics, sound, music, realism, and fun. Definately a game to buy this Christmas for the PS2. For a comparison, I believe it is better than Medal of Honor: Frontline, which was an amazing game. Ghost Recon has sharp, smooth graphics, powerful music, and excellent story line and replay value. (Plus the co-op multiplayer is a blast.) The AI is one of the best I've seen. My only complaint would be the lack of network adapter compatability. But, on the whole, this great is one of the best I've played and is as close to a realistic war game as it gets. I give it a perfect score.

I have just completed the game Ghost Recon for the PS2. This game was an excellent game on PC and I wanted to see if the Conversion to Console did the game justice. It Delivers the program in style and then some. full of special features as if it were a DVD video the game also features the Desert Siege Mission Pack, a multiplayer mode, and tons of extra levels etc.
In fact, the only complaint that I have is that the Character animations tend to get a tad static when in a heavy firefight. the game also features a streamlined control system, very much improved sound, and for the first time I have seen in a Tom Clancy game, High Quality FMV sequences that replace the PC's Decent but not great movies sequences.

This is a great game. I've liked Tom Clancy games ever since Rainbow 6 and this is the best one yet. The gameplay is good. I like the way enemies react when u fire a sniper rifle and miss they don't just all stand there and wait to be picked off. Gameplay is realistic and especially hard when playing of veteran of elite. The plot is realistic as is with tom clancy games. Great game to buy.

I'd like to begin by saying that I usually do not care for the first-person shooter genre. I got this game as a gift and actually contemplated returning it when I unwrapped. Thank God, I gave it a try.
The game takes place in the year 2008, and Russia is slowly taking over the old Soviet Republics by force. Our game begins in the former Republic of Georgia, where we play a few missions involving rescuing a downed pilot and protecting a United Nations Headquarters. The missions are interesting and challenging. What I love about them most is that you can't win them by just running around the countryside and trying to kill everything in sight. Instead you have to carefully plan the route and strategy the two squads you are commanding will take, and you have to proceed with caution when you move throughout the game. In fact, you'll be better off engaging your enemies from afar, than you are just starting an all out firefight.

Ok well i have played this game and it is very good. The only thing i don't like is that for the PS2 you can't play it online. The Xbox and Gamecube versions can all play online. So whats up?? Has PS2 done something to the makers of this game?? If anyone has any answers would they please tell me???

A fun game, with good graphics and sound. "Radar" showing positions
of friendly, neutral, and enemy units is silly and makes game too
easy at times. Enemy units are often excellent shots with a lot
of ammo, but they don't seem too bright. Anti-tank weapons are
remarkably effective. Overall, is quite playable, ... Like all of the Clancy games, it feels a
lot like a recruiting tool for the military and/or CIA.
