This is the best Star Wars game ever. I usually get bored of games in less than a week. I've had it for almost 3 weeks and I'm still not bored with it. The only hitch is that the squad commands are very difficult to use. But in case you're wondering, it does work. To sum it up, AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a relative newcomer to the 'Battlefront' phenomenon. I didn't play the first installment of this series, but my interest was peaked by the commercials for the sequal. Then I received a copy of the game as a gift, and I was hooked. I haven't played the game in its multi-player format, but I loved the single player game, and here are my comments.
THE CAMPAIGN MODE. The campaign mode is quite simply excellent. To summarize, you play members of the 501st, which becomes Darth Vader's personal legion of Storm Troopers. You start with the battle of Geonosis and follow the legion through the Battle of Yavin. Between missions, you get a narrative on their thoughts and perceptions of their service and missions. Its a great story and extremely fun to play. The missions all have their own objectives and settings to distinguish one from the other.
VEHICLES. I liked the ability to commandeer vehicles in the game. You can take control of anything from an STAP or Speeder Bike to a snow speeder or AT-AT. Some vehicles are just way to cumbersome to use though. Frequently, the game seemed to be urging me to enter a vehicle when travel by foot seemed preferrable.
SPACE. The space combat is fun. The skies are littered with ships from the opposing fleets, but the battles are limited to one capital ship on each side with two support ships (like a Corellian Corvette), but there is an unlimited amount of support fighters. You can choose to aid the battle by taking out enemy fighters or attacking the capital ship. If you are brave and skilled enough, you can invade the opposing ship and sabotage it from the inside.
JEDI AND SPECIAL CHARACTERS. By fulfilling certain mission requirements, you can unlock Jedi characters throughout the campaign. Some of the Jedi and Sith characters, such as Mace Windu or Darth Vader, are pretty straight forward in their use and fun to play. Then there is Yoda. You are never quite sure where he is going to end up when you hit the attack button. Most of the time I just bypassed using him when he was available.
Overall, this game is a lot of fun. The controls take some getting used to compared to the controls for other console games. Once you overcome the learning curve, it allows for quite a bit of control of your character. The pace of combat is what you would expect for Star Wars. You have to move quick and efficiently or the enemy will gain the upperhand.
I recommend this game to Star Wars fans and fans of fast paced shooters. I've picked up the original Battlefront, although I'm told it is inferior to the sequel. I'm hoping they will continue to develop this series and provide additional sequels in the futures.
Overall Grade: 4.75 Stars.
A great game -- but here's how it could have been better:

I almost never play video games anymore, but I was a huge fan of the first Battlefront when my son got it on his PS2, and I soon got it for my PC. So I came to BF2 as a fan of BF1. Let me say up front that I really like BF2, it's a great game -- but there were some little things they did that kept it from being a five-star game in my opinion, and I really can't see why they did them.
First of all, the little booklet that comes with the game is just about useless, even more so than was the case with BF1. I had to pore through online sites and forums just to figure out how to utilize certain aspects of the game -- WikiPedia had better instructions for the game than the booklet did! This was really annoying.
Also, the map is just about useless. In BF1, you could glance down at the map and get a good idea of where enemies and allies were in your vicinity, but in BF2 the map is tiny and blurry and really doesn't show you anything at all. Really, they may as well have just not put an onscreen map in this one at all. There is a larger translucent map that you can bring up, that covers the whole screen and does give some detail -- but if you try to play with it up, you wind up not seeing important details of what's in front of you. With the improvements this game made in terms of graphics and detail, this flaw is just annoying and seems completely unnecessary.
Another thing is that they moved all the meters and things to different places. After playing BF1 for so long, I got really used to having my soldier health, vehicle health, and ammo load in the upper right corner, the map in the lower left corner, etc. But in BF2, they changed it all around, and the result has been that I have a really hard time knowing at a glance how my health is doing; I glance up to the right-hand corner, find it's not there, return my attention to the game and then get blown away because I was at minimal health. This will probably improve over time, though my continuing to play and enjoy BF1 will probably only maintain the confusion that much more. This is another change that, as far as I can see, is completely pointless and random, and only worsens the game. They could easily have set the meters up in the same places, to maintain game continuity and style.
And finally, I don't like the changes they made to the commands feature. In BF1, a crucial part of strategy and gameplay is the ability to give specific commands to your comrades -- follow me, hold your position, move out, etc. And all you had to do to issue these commands was stand near some allies and hit the appropriate direction on the directional pad: right for "follow me", down for "hold your positions", and so on. But in BF2 it first seemed that the commands feature was gone; despite a one-word mention in the booklet section, where the word "command" is associated with "up" on the directional pad, I found that when I tried to issue commands to my soldiers, nothing happened. When I finally found some useful instructions on the WikiPedia page, I learned that the whole system had changed and become much more restricted and complex. First of all, you have to attain a certain rank / certain number of medals before you can command others (which I don't mind, it makes sense). Second, in order to command others, you have to put your reticle on them and hit "up" on the directional pad. Finally, when you do manage to issue a command, the game decides for you which command is put forth, according to what seems best to it, so half the time you still don't get to put out the commands you want. I found this really annoying and unnecessary. It seems like they wanted to make room for the "reload" function (which is really useful), but they could have just replaced the relatively useless "at ease" command with the reload function, put in the rank requirement, and otherwise left it as it was.
I also have some minor complaints, but they're very minor because I can either see why it's that way, or it's not a big deal. For example, I like how BF1 has two settings for most of the worlds, and while I really love all the new worlds in BF2, it'd be nice to see more than one setting in some of them. I mean, one place in Dagobah is probably largely like another, but it would have been nice if there was a Coruscant: Republic Square or a Geonosis: Arena, or a Space Death Star. And speaking of the Death Star, the space battles disappointed me a little - I was expecting to be able to move from a land battle into a space battle perhaps, or at least I was expecting the interior of the capital ships and such to be bigger and more spread out (more like the Death Star map), instead of just a central room with a hangar and three tech rooms right off of it. Wouldn't it be great to be able to jump into a ship in the Death Star hangar and then blast out into space, fighting off TIEs all the way? And the other little complaint is the clone armor - I got used to the demarcations in BF1, where pilots were yellow-striped, snipers were red-striped, jet-troopers were green-striped, etc, and then BF2 completely ignores that entire aesthetic. On some worlds, all the troopers are all white, and colors mean nothing now. Though I guess this was all based on clone armors from Episodes II and III, so this complaint might be more about the movies than about the game. *shrug*
Now, all that said, I'm still giving it four stars. Because really, I still quite like the game. The objective-based games are great, the storyline following the 501st is AWESOME, the graphics are better, the new classes are cool... I like the space battles overall, playing Jedi and Sith and other heroes rocks. The Hunt and Capture the Flag options are wonderful, very good additions. And I LOVE the ability to sprint - they should put out a BF1 upgrade for PCs just to add that! So I really do like the game. I just think it could have been better with a tiny bit more effort, and it's too bad that effort wasn't made.
This is the best game I've played

I haven't played BF, but I asked for this one. It took me about a half-month to adjust to the unique gameplay, but then I took to this game quite well. I haven't beaten Story Mode yet; this is no easy game. But where it lacks in simplicity, it more than makes up for in pure fun. You can go to the Jedi Temple, the Death Star, Mustafar, and many other enviroments filled with secrets waiting for you to discover. You can play as your favorite characters, like Yoda, Anakin, Obi-Wan, Darth Maul, Boba Fett, Luke, Darth Vader, and many others. There are 2 setbacks to this. 1: Their health meter slowly drains; you must kill opponents to keep the meter high. 2: You are assigned a certain "Hero" for each planet and each faction. Say you wished to be Obi-Wan for the Republic on Corascant, well they'd assign you Mace Windu no matter what. Space battles are wicked cool. I sometimes like to fly into the enemy hangar and knock out all their critical systems. If you are looking for a really fun action-adventure game with futuristic laser and vehicle technology, you can end your search here.

This is one of the best games I have ever played. When I got SWBF1, I played it and was amazed by the amazing gameplay. Every aspect was awesome. It pleases parents because there is no cursing and it pleases kids because it's an amazing shooting game. Good graphics, gameplay, etc. Then in galactic conquest, I saw that I could have a Jedi on my side. Then I was disappointed because I couldn't be a Jedi. The game was still awesome though.
Then I got SWBF2, there are so many new and greater features. Such as: Space battles, dogfights, objectives, running, new units, being able to be a Jedi (my favorite), new vehicles, new sound, new planets, better graphics or should I say vivid graphics (in some areas, you aren't supposed to see very well), everything about it is great.
You have to complete objectives or you lose because you don't get reinforcements if you don't, some say it's bad, but it isn't at all! SWBF1 was a little easy, you kill people, yada, yada still a great game though. Now, it's more realistic, like what the troops in the movies actually had to do to survive! You cannot beat this game in one day. The are many hours of fun in this game.
BUY IT!

BF1 = Battlefront BF2 = Battlefront II
PROS:
1. Playable Jedi/Sith/Heros? BOOYAH!!! How awesome is it to be able to thrash a lightsaber around?!
2. The space battles are pretty cool, although they could be a bit more...exciting...in-depth...challenging... I found myself mostly trying to figure out how in the world I was destroying other guys (including myself) without doing anything...
3. The Rise of the Empire mission-based play is SO COOL! This is the one thing that was lacking in BF1.
CONS:
1. They left out some of the best maps from BF1.
2. The style of play is much too...shoot-em-up for me. BF1 offers a slower play that gives me time to think instead of wondering, "How in the world did I just kill myself."
3. The on-screen visuals that show your ammo and health level are too comfusing for me to use.
4. You can't command your troops! That was the whole fun of BF1!
5. I had trouble with my maps not showing enemies on the screen. I often found myself thinking I was completely safe while actually being surrounded. I also had a hard time seeing enemies on the screen without using the above-head markers, but even they would disappear at horrible times.
6. There are only two levels of expertice to choose from, whereas in BF1, you had three.
So, basically, if you like a more hard-core game, buy BF2. If you want to really "experience" the game, buy BF1 first. It's cheaper, and personally, I was relieved to go back to the oldie-but-goodie after renting BF2.

I think star wars battlefront 2 is an ausome game but there are a few things that I have to point out. For one thing the Graphics are not as good as the graphics on the first game. I know this is probably because the game makers were trying to put in more battlefronts and more detail into the battlefronts. I liked being able to be a jedi but the thing that really got me when the battlefront 1 game came out was you weren't a jedi you were a soldier. On every single star wars game I had played I was a jedi, This got very boring. Being in space battles was the best thing about battlefront 2. Getting into a spaceship and zooming off into the enemy's hanger and destroying everything inside. I did like the battlefronts however I would have liked to have had two versions of every battlefront. I think fighting in the middle of the desert planet tattoine was better than being stuck in mos eisly. I am sorry if I am spelling the name of the planet wrong but I haven't played battlefront in about a week. I would get this game now because it has dropped from $50.00 to $19.00 finally. I would not call it wasting money if you bought this game it is an ausome game overal.
An AWESOME Game, But Still has a Few Cons

Even though I haven't played that many shooter games, this is the best one I've ever played. It's a lot better than the first Battlefront and a whole lot of fun to play. However, there still are a few cons you might want to know about. Here's a list of pros and cons for Star Wars Battlefront 2:
Pros:
- The graphics are a lot better than the first Battlefront.
- New soldier types to play as such as the Rebel Bothan Spies and Imperial Officers.
- There are playable locations from the first game like Hoth and Endor but you can also play on new locations from Revenge of the Sith like Mustafar, the Jedi Temple, and Felucia.
- You can now play as heroes and villains like Obi-Wan and General Grievous.
- There is also one campaign mode that follows the story line as the Republic slowly transforms in to the Empire.
- Last, but not least, you can play in space with classic starfighters like X-Wings and TIE Fighters or with new ships like ARC-170's and Droid Tri-Fighters.
Now, after this loooong list of pros, to get to the "Dark Side" of the game with the...
Cons:
- The disc is not very durable, if you get a few scratches on it, that could make the campaign mode unplayable and sometimes the gameplay and cut scenes will freeze, and the music might skip too.
- The AI enemies and even allies are not very intelligent.
- If you're a hard core Star Wars fan, you may notice that some of the heroes and villans are out of place like how you can play as Darth Maul during the Clone Wars even though he died before then.
Thank you for reading my review of Star Wars Battlefront 2 and I hope it helped you.
The best game ever!!!!

I belive that everyone should buy Battlefront 2 for many reasons.
First off, its a great shooter game that most parents allow thier kids to play. And the price has dropped tremendously since it first came out(about 20 buck right now).
Pros:
-You can play as heros like Mace Windu, Obi-won, Ki-adi mundi, aayla secura, yoda, luke skywalker, chewbacca, han solo, and princess leia.
-You can play as heros like count dooku, general grevious, darth maul, boba and jango fett, emperor palpitine, anakin, and darth vader.
-You can now play in space with new ships like republic starfighter, tri-fighter, driod gunship, x wings, and tie bomers.
-There are some new locations.
-in the campaign mode you have to complete objectives like killing a jedi, capturing a princess, capture a command post, and destroy enemy ships.
-you can play global conquest, where you choose a faction and you guide them to control the galaxy.
-you can get many award for accomplishing certian feats like a beam rifle, energy regeneration, award pistils and rifles, and guidable rockets.
-hunt battles rock!you can control native creatures like geonosians, wampas, tusken raiders, jawas, gun guns, and others
-you and press up on the d pad and have your troops follow you into battle.
-The graphics are great
-you can play with snipers, rocket launchers, shotgun, rifles, and pistils and time you want
-you can unlock cool types of troops like bothan spies(can go invisible), wookie warriors, clone commanders, jet and dark trooper(with jet packs), magnagaurd(general grevius bodygaurd), droidekas, and imperial officers.
CONS
-The campaign could be longer
-Space battles are hard to get used to
-it takes a little bit of time to load before and after each battle
-they could have put in more jedi like gui gon, kit fisto, and some others
-i think there should be hero ships like the millenium falcon, anakins star fighter, sith infiltrator, that are unlocked after a certian number of points are won.
This is great game and i reccomend that everyone who has a console that supports battlefront buy it, or if not go buy the console and then this game!

Star Wars: Battlefront II takes everything that the first Battlefront game set up and knocks it out of the park. Addictive, death match style gameplay is what's on the menu with Battlefront II, as you choose a side and battle it out over expansive environments in the Star Wars universe, including Hoth, the Daggobbah System, Naboo, the Death Star, and more. The many modes include squad based battles and space combat, as well as goal-oriented missions and more besides. After completing certain objectives during a mission, you'll be able to play as classic Star Wars characters like Luke, Obi-Wan, Darth Vader, Yoda, and more besides. What really makes Battlefront II all the more fun is the online multiplayer and deathmatch features, which are reason enough to pick up Battlefront II. The game looks great and the controls are tight, while the game as a whole wonderfully captures the feel and tone of the Star Wars universe. All in all, Battlefront II is still worth owning for any and every gamer who likes deathmatch style gameplay, and for Star Wars fans, picking this up is a no-brainer.
