Battlefront is a player-friendly game that is readily launched online with a minimum of hassle and the basic skills needed to excel at the game are easily acquired. While any game gets boring with repetition, Battlefront always offers something new as new players come onto the scene with new tactics to exploit what the game has to offer. If you do buy Battlefront be also prepared to buy Battlefront 2 when it comes out. It looks like it will be a winner.
Similar games to this would be in the Battlefield genre with Battlefield 2 being the most recent version of that amazing franchise.
Very fun and addictive game.

This game is a very fun game right away. As another reviewer stated, it is very easy to learn the controls and get to blasting right away. There are few things more frustrating than a video game which requires days of study and the hand-eye coordination of a card sharp to do simple things like walk around and aim a weapon. Battlefront's controls, by contrast, are very simple and even someone who doesn't play a lot of video games can learn the controls within a matter of minutes.
This game allows you to play as a foot soldier in one of the two eras of the Star Wars universe, either the CLone War era, or the Galactic Empire era. You can be a soldier for the Empire, the Republic, the CLone Army, or the Rebels. Each of the four sides has five different classes of warriors to choose from, such as your basic infantryman, along with several specialists who have a key skill which can come in handy in certain situations. I have found that the basic infantry soldier (which appears in all four of the sides) is generally the most versatile and useful.
Anyway, I found this game to be very entertaining because, unlike most other FPS games, when you die, you simply respawn in another area and continue the battle. Moreover, you are part of a larger battle, and can see other soldiers from your side fighting, advancing, killing and getting killed, throwing grenades, manning gun turrets, etc. You feel like you're in a large scale battle of which you're only a solitary soldier, as opposed to other games where it's you (or your small, but highly elite team) against the world. IMO, this makes the game a whole lot more fun - it's kind of like a giant paintball competition. You, as an individual soldier, can run, duck, get behind cover, shoot your rifle, throw grenades, man vehicles or heavy weapons, and issue simple commands to your nearby teammates, like you're an NCO or junior officer.
The battles are set up in a "capture the flag" kind of mode where your starting point is a "flag" and you must advance and fight the enemy for the other flags. Once you win all or most of the flags in the battle zone (and thereby deny the enemy respawning areas) you win the battle and can advance to the next battle area.
The biggest negative for this game is its extreme shortness. The single-player mode is just too short, and too easy, and it was no real feat to defeat the computer with any of the four sides. There are different cutscenes, but there is actually very little challenge.
However, I highly recommend this game. It is very, very fun.

This game is truely amazing-the first star wars game that i actually like. Online play is smooth as you can pick where to play and other options of gameplay. Think about it-now you can go online and kill 100+ people in an AT-ST and make them real mad. Your scores can be tracked online to see how good you are doing overall. No for the gameplay. First of all the game can be played with 2 people to play at once and I greatly praise this game for that. The story mode is very short on any level of difficulty. The AI is ok and on hard mode they MIGHT serve as a real challenge(online they have updated the AI for online pla). If Luke Skywalker is on the battlefield then I don't think anyone on his side would want him running in circles and into walls and he does just that. There are Jedi in this game and sadly are WAY to hard to kill. I spend more time trying to kill one of them (which is possible) then fighting the battle. No you can't play as them-big miss. But overrall there is no way you can pass this game up if you like shooter games even if your not a fan of star wars. The grafics are great, sound is just like the movies, and the gameplay is excellent. I highly recommend this to any fan of shooting games.

the replay value is out the window!
its pure caos!!
which it should be.
you have seen the movies right?
its just like that!
lasers flying everywhere!
everything exploding!
you dont even have to be good at it to have fun.
the loading time is very good.so are the graghics. and the sound. when you die you can pic the type of guy you want to use or a different one instantly and rejoin the game in the same amount of time.
i myself am addicted and i have not even played on x box live yet!
Ok, but can't compete with SOCOM 1 or 2

The idea behind the game is to keep attcking and taking over enemy checkpoints. The graphics are pretty good, but operating the vehicles stinks. The X-Wing, Y-Wing, Tie Fighter, etc are cool but it's like trying to drive a dump truck in a two car garage. Online the characters move very slow across a board and you are stuck with the weapons your character starts with. I own both SOCOMs and nothing compares to that online gameplay. The online play here is a constant respawn until one team occupies and kills the other teams reawn points, and knocks out their 250 soldiers/droids. Headsets due work, but it is a constantly open mike. I recommend renting it but don't buy it.

This game really isn't that great. First of all, there's so much chaos and the graphics make it hard to tell who's who!! If it wasn't for the different color reticle (target indicator) I'd be shooting my own guys!!! I play on a 61" Sony TV and its still hard to make out the bad guys! Imagine on a 32 inch screen. Yikes!!!!
I bought this game 'cause I thought it would be fun to play in the wars that happened in the Star Wars universe. But, here's the thing. You can't change history. That's what's wrong with these history games. You can't change the outcome. You can only succeed, if not well you have to start over again. Being a sniper is utterly usless since the moment you fire on someone they see you and start firing at you and you are dead. You almost have to kill them with one shot and that's it.
This game isn't all that fun. But, since I spent the money for it ($15.00) I'm going to finish it. I don't like wasting money on things. And besides, I may get into this game and do a re-review on it. But, since the game is pretty much the same throughout; Stay alive, Capture Outposts, win at all costs, well there's not much room for improvement.
I heard that the Battlefront II is so much better than this one. Well, I may get it only because it's Star Wars. But, then again, I may just pass being that the first one wasn't all that great!!!
Gets old very fast

This game is fun at first, but gets old way too fast. Their aren't very many different places to go so they get pretty old. And although every battle is tecnickly different, the computer played bad guys do pretty much the same thing every time, so even the battles get old. It might be fun to play multiplayer - I don't know, I've never tried - but I doubt it. There are some fun things about it that keeps it relatively playable, but not many. If you find this game at a yard sale for a small amount of money (as I did), go ahead and get it, but it's not worth more than about $10.
