I am probably the biggest RPG fan in the U.S. and never have I seeen such a great game. In most RPG's they have turn-based battles,a few inteactive things, some stores, and a couple of FMVs(Full Motion Videos). These type of games will keep you occupied for about a day,and thats what I thought was going to happen when I picked up a copy of this game. The first battle I fought in this game was different. Everyone could move around on the battle field their was no wait in between attacks, and probably 2 seconds wait before you could preform another spell.
then I got to the good stuff. I found out that with raw material and a couple of skill levels you could make your own items. I don't mean any old items, you can cook you can make armour you can paint pictures you can even customize your own wepons. For all the people who like trouble heres something new. If you get enough money in your pocket you can buy a pair of bandits gloves, and if you accuire the skill pick pocket you can steal from everyone exept kings. All in all this is now and will ever be the best video game ever.
One of the best RPG game is coming out soon.

If you remember the old Star Ocean, people will say that it had some fantastic graphic and music. Beware, fans of Star Ocean. The sequel to the game, Star Ocean 3, will be coming out with full 3-D graphic.
The battle system has changed a lot compared to the old Star Ocean. The characters that go into battle has been reduced to 3 characters from 4 characters. The reason they reduced it was because they wanted to make the battle system simple and to make the game hard. Some people complained about the old Star
Ocean because it was hard to find out where the characters were in the map, but Enix has fixed that problem.
*Sorry that the name of the characters are misspelled.
The background of the game is space, just like the old Star Ocean. The main character(human), Pait, goes on vacation to the planet Hida with his parents and his beautiful(you'll find out what I mean)sister. Unfortunately, Pait gets separated from his sister and parents because someone invades the planet Hida. After this, the main story begins.(Which I don't know)
?= I don't know how to spell it.
There are 6 main characters in this game and 5 races. The races are human, ?(an angel looking like race), ?(a race of a planet which I don't know how to spell. They are able to travel space), Fox Tail(a race that has fox ears and tails), and Blue Dolphin.
This game is going to be for gamers who love action RPG games like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. Thank you!
It's going to be really good

I, being lucky enough to live a scant 45 minutes by public transport from Den-den Town in Osaka, did go to the Star Ocean III exhibition in front of the Sofmap. The demos had a selection screen at the start - skip cut scenes, mono/stereo sound, the infamous difficulty levels (Earth, Galaxy, and Universe), and about three other selections - curiously enough ALL listed in English with Japanese explanations down in the lower right. Good to see that the folks at Tri-Ace were thinking ahead for the English release.
The demo starts out with the main character, Fate, talking with his friend Sophia inside a seaside resort hotel. When they're done talking, you get to go out into the main lobby and explore the main hotel area. I, not knowing where specifically I was supposed to go, went downstairs to the beach, ran into Fate's parents at the beach, then went back inside. Souffle, the cutesy gypsy child, had an equally cute voice, yet blessedly not too terribly annoying. Shades of an early Private Action ensued. After she cheerfully signed the bottom of Fate's shirt with her name and picture (to which Fate freaked about, since Souffle signed on the BACK of his shirt) and was convinced that Fate and Souffle weren't thieves or stalkers, she gave them free tickets to her troupe's show.
After that, you go into the game rooms for battle simulation practice. The tutorial is beautifully done, and my only regret was that I had to skip through it in order to cram in as much playtime as possible. It was just as well - anyone who's played Star Ocean II will pick up on the commands supremely quickly. Circle does a regular attack - X seems to do a bonus attack of some sort, R allows you to switch between Fate and Sophia. Sophia's physical attack power, incidentally, is totally non-existent (she's the stereotypical obligatory healing magikul girl), so I stuck with Fate while fighting.
The upper right corner of the screen had an incredibly handy map - blue spots were your controlled characters, red spots were the enemies (or vice versa - can't remember which right off hand), so even if you can't see one of your allies, you know if they are getting swarmed. The Heat-up bar did SOMETHING, but heaven knows I couldn't read what fast enough. It broke during one of my tutorial fights, sooo...For the battle system, the familiar ring menus, activated by the Triangle button, have been replaced by a cycling list of options - Escape, Heraldry, Item, Tactics, and two others which I can't recall at the moment because they weren't actually available.
So, in summation:
- I'm still clueless about the Heat Up and Guts gauges. Fate's Guts meter always seemed to be stuck below 10% when I was whacking stuff with him.
- Sophia. 120 HP (250 MP, as an aside) Fate, in contrast, had 350 HP, 90 MP. Yeah.
- The graphics rock, especially with the 3D environments and the cut-scenes. The game will also suppot progressive-scan (480p)for a super shap display.
- The voice acting and music also rock and supports Pro-LogicII sound.
- The story looks like it will rock (I'm not sure, because I couldn't read it since I was 1) under time constraints, 2) the guys ahead of me in line just blipped through the dialogue, and 3) I read really slowly in Japanese.)
- The battle system REALLY rocks.
- Seems pretty importer-friendly for English-speakers with the placement of what English is there in the game. Woohoo, I can't wait!

Seeing as the game hasn't been released yet this review is intended for those just looking into the series. You see star Ocean Till the end of time is actually Star Ocean 3. The original Star Ocean was a spinoff to Tales of Phantasia. By the way Tales of Phantasia is going to be rereleased for the Game boy advanced sometime later this year! Both the original star ocean and ToP never were released in the U.S but both can be found fansubbed as roms for the SNES. The 2nd star ocean was the first one realeased in the U.S and contained 86 endings! There's an anime series (unlicensed in the U.S) called Star Oceacn Ex that is based off of Star Ocean 2: a second story. There were tons of customizable options as well as being able to create your own items through skill that you developed by gaining expierence and fighting. Each character had so many techniques such as cooking and alchemy. Simply put the Star Ocean series are separate story lines with not much connection to them except high class cultures getting being forced to live in primitive places with magic and a Tolkein like atmosphere. Science Fiction meets fantasy. A signature of the series includes active real time battle situational fighting. This is a nice break from the turn based typical rpg stuff that we are used to. Star Ocean 3 will be the first 3 dimensional atmosphere and after observing the trailer, looks excellent! CG films are beautiful and the upgrade to 3-d will be a plus. The Star Ocean series are acknowledged for there, breathtaking, beautiful artwork and music that will put you in such a trance you will feel like your on morphine. The 5 star review is based off of my expierance with the 3 previous titles released under their name. I can't wait for this game to be released!
sigh... Setbacks have pushed the U.S release date back to september of 2003

a reviewer stated that "The original Star Ocean was a sequel to Tales of Phantasia", and this is not accurate. the two are only related in the development area; as some of the developers from Namco who made ToP split and formed a company called Tri-Ace, who develops (and quite well, i should add) the Star Ocean series.
they are not related in any way other than who's behind the scenes.

once upon a time i was eating some cornflakes. the next thing i knew tony the tiger jumped off the front of the box and said,"Buy it now!" i started to cry and rhen i watched bonzai. all in all it was good. ive never played the game, but when i played it was good. but when you say it is bad your right. next thing i knew tony was in the game. i pulled his pants down and we did the safety dance with the men without hats. but wait, there was a hat. it was atop that dumb midget from james bond. he threw his hat at me and tony and it bounced off the fan, hit ringo star and then landed on me head. and i dont mean the head on me shoulders. i mean the one in my ear. and thats what happened when i drove my tractor through candy land.

This is a sequeal from the star ocean saga. The first version released in Japan had a several bug problem. Thus most of them were pull back, now the newly released version suppose to be better and even have different costumes for the character. There are up to 6 playable character, and Fate is the one you start with. It also has mutiple ending, especially depend on which character you choose to battle in the final chapter.
Ummm.. yeah
