The new half life requires an internet activation. Now dont panic, it's not that big of a deal. the makers of the game just dont want anybody using illegal copies. When you activate the game, a steam file will be sent to the makers saying that the half life is not fake. Then you can play your game without needing to use the internet again. Obviously you have internet, but warn the people who dont have internet that they are wasting their money since they cant make that single internet connection. The internet dosent have to be high speed or anything special eather. I totaly recomend this game and dont ever let the single internet activation change your mind.
why buy the game so quickly?

Half-Life 2 smacks the crap out of Far Cry and Doom 3. My computer I bought over the summer is paying off. P4 3.4 Ghz, ATI X800 XT 256MB, and 1 Gig of DDR2. This game does have high requirements. So if your computer is below a P4 1.8 Ghz, better think about upgrading. I don't mind the loading times between scenes in the gameplay. The AI is much smarter than Far Cry or Doom 3. Sounds really good on a 5.1 surround sound system. The graphics are top notch. I have played it for 4 hours and more stages keep coming. The steam verification is a pain though. They could of at least just sent the registration via internet without having to create a new account and install steam onto the computer. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TO ANY FPS FAN! Read the PC Gamer issue which gave a 98% Editor's Choice review and believe me they are right on target.
Excellent Game

The graphics in this game are incredible and so is the sound/music/etc. So far, the single player game-play has been extremely smooth. I have not played the multiplayer yet so will not comment. For those with issues installing the game you need to look at Sierra's installation update. The website is here http://sierra.com/ What it basically tells you to do is install the entire game, including the Counter-Strike etc. If you choose to delete it after the install you can, but you definitely need to install the entire (Full) game first. Also, you need an internet connection. As for the game, it is excellent and I highly recommend it.
GREAT!

This game rocks have had it some time now and still enjoy getting on the multiplayer and mixing it up. I have many PC games setting on the self collecting dust but this is not one of them. It is better than the way they hyped it, I can see why so many players are on the multiplayer all the time. Buy it and ENJOY.

Awesome, JUST PLAIN AWESOME

When i got this game i was thinking it was an average first person shooter with some additions. But when i started the first level i was amzazed at how cool it was and fun, from then on i played the game nonstop every day it was so enticing. I dont no why amazon gave it anything less than 5 stars this game. This game mixes just plain shoot'em gameplay with puzzle solving. for example at one point in the game you come across a gate. There is no lever or switch, so you have to look around for a way to open. you find a elevator in the ground. So then you have to find things and put them inside the elevator to weigh it down to open the gate. I thought this was so cool because you had to look around for items to put in, its not like some little guy in your head says "Look an elevator, why dont we put the heavy box in it!" You do it yourself!

Half-Life 2 makes you feel like you are actually in this futuristic, strange world turned upside-down by a totalitarian regime. The environment is so complete, and the effect so chilling and mesmerizing at times that you can easily get lost in the action. Come heavily armed to this one because you'll need the extra hardware to survive.
Brilliant

This game could easily take the cake as greatest one-player fps of all time: An almost epic story to rival with some of the best rpgs out there, not to mention great graphics and great gameplay devices (the gravity gun and physics engine were simply awesome) are weaved together so tightly that not one incredible aspect sticks out above the rest. HL2 shows you the future of gaming without messing with the fun element, accomplishing what I think every game should set out to do. The environments are colorful and anything but repetitive, ranging from abandoned cities gripped in urban warfare to alien-infested beaches and a terrifying ghost town that adds an almost survival-horror feel. Unfortunately, after exploring nearly every possible scenario that these devices could take the game just sort of ends after a kind of disappointing final boss (if you would even call it that). Still, it really leaves things open for HL3, which will almost certainly be gargantuan.
