The Game is about as good as the art on the box.

I should have listened to my first instinct when I bought this game. I thought: Look at this art on the front.. it's [bad]... the game is probably just as bad. I like the Graphics, and I can't even remember the music, I never played this game more than what.. three times? And that doesn't mean all the way through. I think I played halfway through and then let it collect dust. The characters are lame. The storyline has little if anything to do with the first. The first thing I noticed about this game was the weapon the first character has. I took about 10 direct hits to the head to kill the first enemy I encountered, who was all to easy to hit I might add. I don't remember him doing much more than standing in one spot and shooting... maybe I have a bad memory. Then I tried out the secondary fire... a grenade... sounds cool eh.. well I like a LITTLE realism in my games... This grenade.. I think you get like what 20 rounds of em or more? kills with one hit. It destroys those specific little areas you are meant to and usually have to destroy. It also has absolutely no arc whatsoever. NONE. Fire this baby up into the air and you'll never see it again... In the last game I loved how you could fire a rocket into the air and it would come back down to earth, angling rockets over the huge Sniper style canyon arena in the last game to hit your opponents base in the side of the rock was awesome. This game blows in multiplayer as well.. I quit after less than a minute of checking it out. DO NOT BUY OR RENT THIS GAME... seriously..
Great Game

A great game. The graphics are 10 times better than Red Faction 1. The pre-rendered cut scenes are nice too. The game play is even better. Fighting along side others is fun. The controls are weird, but they can be changed any way you want. There are more weapons and they are even more powerfull. Sadly, there is no flamethrower, but there is a shotgun with incary charges, (even better!). The story isn't as good as the original as the first one, but is still OK. The multiplayer is soooo much better than RF1. There is even capture the flag. I wish it was on-line or at least had i-link. But at least it supports 4 players.
Anyone know the opening title monologue by Sopot?

I thought this was an enjoyable game. The revolution atmosphere and the worker's war against tyranny and hyper capitalism really gave the game a feel of it's own. I wasn't too sure about the legions of undead, but at least you don't feel quite as guilty when you decapitate them with your chosen firearm.
But what I really wanted someone to help me out with is by writing the opening monologue by Sopot in this review section. During the opening credits, the ruthless dictator Sopot has a speech where he harangues the Red Faction and works the crowd up with a frenzy of rage and propaganda. The speech begins: "The world has abandoned us. We fight alone, against an insidious enemy..."
After that I don't remember. I rented the game and thought the speech was really good. Maybe I should contact the game designers instead. They would probably have that text somewhere. Forget it.

This is my first First Person Shooting game for PS2 and I must say it's just an alright game. Nothing spectacular. The Geo Mode thing that is supposed to allow you to blow up random stuffs to find some other items or determine where you go in the game doesn't make any difference to me.
One thing that I hate about this game is the night vision goggle mode. You basically have to wear the damn thing in 50% of the time. I don't know if that's because the programmers are too lazy to brighten up the backgrounds or what, but when I can't see jack for doodoo it kinda peeves me off.
Some people say this game is too short, but I'm struggling to finish it. Not because it's a tough game, but because I'm tired of it. Not a challenging game for a first timer.
Worst Game I have ever played

This was one of the worst games I have ever played. I warn you DO NOT BUY THIS! The graphics are horrible they are like PS1 graphics. I like the Halo controls where you use two joysticks but I hate the fact that the controllers are inverted. Overall this game is a 0.1 on a scale from 1 to 10.
Disappointing, at the least

I was, as well, a big fun of red faction.
I agree with most of the other reviews... the game just plain.... What i do not understand is that everyone seems to appreciate the graphics - I though graphics on red faction 1 were much better. Not to talk about the dialogs, some very poor attempts to introduce humor in the game - annoying from the very first time you hear them, not to talk about having to listen to them over and over. The screams of dyig soldiers resemble more a parody - i can see the guys cracking up while recording those.

This game awstruck me when i got it. I immeadiately went to the multiplayer option and i was surprised, never had I seen such an amazing multiplayer game. I soon found out the capabilities of this game. There are different scenarios such as bagman (who can hold the briefcase the longest), capture the flag, and deathmatch. The different types of guns assure that you'll have a favorite, very soon. If you shoot someone with a machine gun, it causes them to actually look like they are hurting where you shot them. You also can cause them to explode into many tiny pieces!!!!You can also catch them on fire. The best thing is that you get titles according to the amount of kills you have, such as Killing Spree and Butcher.
In single player, you can do many of the the same things as multiplayer and you can even pilot vehicles!
I found it amazing and i'm sure you will too.
P.S. THIS GAME IS NOT FOR THE FIENT OF HEART!!!
Original Version is Way Better-This is a rental

This is a wonderful shooter game, but lame in comparison to the original game. Red Faction 1 is far more strategic, and a longer, more involved game. RF2 you can blow through in a few hours. It has so many weapons, its hard to cycle through them-
I felt it slowed down gameplay. RF2 feels more like an arcade
game, rent it at Blockbuster.
This game is underated

I dont have much to say except that this game was great. The multiplayer was awesome, if you get a multitap for your ps2 you and three of your friends can sit down and play forever. The only things i did not like about the game was that there were no cooperative missions and it wasnt as long as I hoped. But overall it was a great game with great graphics
Good Fun...

I bought a PS2 a week ago, and got Red Faction II as a free game included with the system.
Red Faction II is really fun most of the times. The detail is extremely real, and the gameplay was excellent.
However, the game is really confusing. There are more plot twists than a pretzel, and half the time, you have no idea what is going on except that you should shoot down the cyborgs.
Splattering the blood out of innocent bystanders in a game is fun, and this has plenty. But if you're like me, stick to GTA 3 and GTA Vice City.
Red Faction II is fun...
