ratchet deadlocked is a good game but it just doesnt have what the other games have. In the other games you have a mission to try to save something and you go around planets finding coordinates for other planets and secret bolts and things like that. In deadlocked all you do is get transported from planet to planet and kill some bad guys or screw in some bolts to beat it. Pretty much every challenge is like this and it gets really boring. There is pretty much no story to it. The shooting and the guns are fun but it gets really boring and the whole time you are waiting for something good to happen. Most of the enemies you fight are the exact same robots so that gets old after a little bit too. Also, you dont have clank to make you be able to hover and go faster when youre walking around, all you get is the charge boots which are kind of annoying. I recommend that you dont get this game.
Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry Disappointing

No ressemblance of the Ratchet & Clank games 1 thru 3. It's a great game with great graphics if all your into is short progressive battle challenges. I own and played the first three series. I COULDN'T WAIT for DEADLOCKED to come out......I counted the months. The first day it came out I purchased it. It took me only 20 hours to complete it whereas it took me 40-60 hours for R&C games 1 thru 3 at an equal level of challenge. Again, if your into battle challenges, get it....if you think your getting a R&C 1 thru 3 parity game you'll truly be disappointed. I'm still bummed.

I was sadly disappointed in the game, and as a huge R&C fan, I still bought it. One of my favorite parts about the other games was exploring the different worlds and the adventure themes. In this one, all you get is the endless arena battles. I feel like the game lost its element of excitement and adventure. The new guns were interesting and I especially liked the napalm mod, but the music and limited space are very annoying. Also, the controls are altered, which really confused me at the start. The humor has changed into more of an adult type. I used to let my little sister watch the other R&C's, but I am nervous about having her taking in all the language and ruthlessness of this one. Once you get used to the new controls, the boring music, the blatant humor, and the monotonous arena battles, I guess the game is okay. Still better than the other games out there, but I expected better quality from Ratchet.
If you like arena battles, you're all set.

I am really disappointed with this game (and I loved the other Ratchet & Clank games). This game just moves from one arena battle to the next (in the form of very small planets), so you don't get the adventures you do with the previous games. There is a cooperative mode where two players can play, but you need a big tv because it's like watching a couple of microbes run around.
Love R&C? You may not like Deadlocked

If you are a big fan of the Ratchet and Clank series; if you would list all three games in your top ten, then you probably won't like Ratchet: Deadlocked.
Ratchet: Deadlocked features around the popular arena battles from RC:GC and RC:UYA. I, for one, loved the arena battles in those games. But there is more than such a thing as too much. The entire game is an arena battle, with a few hoverbike and other vehicle missions thrown in.
Did you enjoy exploration? Love finding all of the gold/platinum/titanium bolts? Love the fun puzzles and the free roaming world? Well, you can forget about all of this. Ratchet: Deadlocked, is a shooter. The out-of-this-world weapons that made the first three games (suck cannon, morph-o-ray, rift inducer, etc) are almost non-existant in this version. Once you have completed the goal of the mission, there is no roaming, exploration, or enjoying the scenery. You are automatically thrown into the next mission.
Do I sound pessimistic? I am. This is the most boring R&C game of the series.
The only thing I do enjoy about Ratchet:Deadlocked is the weapon mods. The way the mods are designed, you can make hundreds of different weapons, having a lot of fun with each. It is a challenge to match the perfect mods to make an effective weapon.
If you are a huge gamer and you play hundreds of different games, you will probably not be bothered by the monotonous tone of this game. But if you are a big fan of platformers, without a lot of time to waste, then just replay the first three games, don't waste your money on this one.
I am not a huge gamer, I do not get to spend much time playing the Playstation. I do not recommend this game to people who were big fans of the original R&C, but more gamers with more time and money may enjoy Deadlocked.
Good, but please give us more of a story and more Clank next time!

I like Ratchet & Clank and I've got all four of the PSII games.
They're fun, funny, engaging, clever, witty, amusing, challenging and interesting.
This new game looks fantastic and the weapons are great.
The challenges are interesting, but I miss:
1. A good story.
2. Clank, who is only a minor character in this one.
3. Captain Quark, who has been developing into of R&C's most loveable and amusing characters.
4. A good story.
This current game has some excellent qualities but for a player with a normal TV and no broadband/cable internet connection it is pale in comparison to the other R&C games.
Please, please, please bring back the Ratchet & Clank of old - defending the galaxy and blowing up stuff and providing us with plenty of laughs along the way. Captain Quark is one of the best characters in the series, too, as well as Al, Helga and Skid.
Endless arena battles

Take the previous Ratchet and Clank games, remove the game parts, string together all the arena battles, and this is what you get.
In addition, the weapon upgrade system has hit the point of overcomplication, and the controls don't seem as effortless as they were in the Ratchet and Clank games; something just isn't right with the way the analog stick maps to turn speed.
Great graphics, yes. But that's not enough at this late stage in the PS2's life.

First and foremost, I absolutely love the R & C series. Ratchet himself is cute-but-not-too-cute, just butch enough to carry off his hardshooting lifestyle.
Sony must have found a lot of positive feedback about the arena battles from previous games in the series, because as others say, Deadlocked is mostly that.
There are two major areas to go - one is a shuttle to the arena, two is a shuttle to whichever planetary quest you're currently on. Two is still very much dodge and shoot, not as inventive and expansive as the earlier games, and you get the feeling that Deadlocked is rushing you. You're humming along and suddenly it's the last challenge and you're left wondering where all the game went. "Get moving and finish already!" you can almost hear it scream. Maybe it's a subleminal audio track.
Although the non-arena quests do offer some of what the former games had, they simply don't compare with their scope.
It is still great fun, though. I like the new weapons system and the fact that you can earn bolts quickly enough to get some serious firepower, unlike the earlier games where it took forever to buy and upgrade your hardware. At first I was annoyed that they had changed some of the controls (the first 3 worked essentially the same), but quickly got used to it. Also, I used the target-lock view instead of normal 3rd-person view for the first time and found myself preferring it (at least for Deadlocked).
So, should you buy? I suggest 'absolutely yes.' The humor is still there (although the announcer's comments can get repetive after you've played it through once), with one or two genuine laugh-out-loud moments, the weapons are great, the graphics are excellent, and the quests have some replay value. There are a few much more tolerable "race" type challenges, a hoverbike, a hovership and a dunebuggy, which is a good thing. I hate, hate, hate the races from previous games.
It's not as good as Up Your Arsenal, but then again, how could the Ratchet franchise top that?
NOT AS GOOD

The game was not as good as the older versions. I spected a lot more from this game since it was announced so much. I have bought all the rachet and clank games, and this is the worst. I bought it, passed it, and sold it right away to buy smackdown vs raw 2006; which is a way better game.
