You can do more in this game then you can in Vice city the cities are bigger you get Los Sontos(Replica of L.A.) San Fierro(Smaller version os San Francisco) and a fictional Las Vegas,Las venturas(YES it does include casinos). You are Carl Johnson a person who ran away to Liberty city(the city played in 2001`s Grand Theft Auto III) because he wanted to escape the presssures of risky gang life but returns for vengeance on his mothers murder. The graphics havent changed much they still have glitches but the cars look like the ones they used on True Crime. The gameplay is cool u get to steal Cars,Bikes,Buses, trucks,Planes,MotorBikes(including Police motorbikes),Planes and Helicoptors all have different looks, sizes, speed, strength and Techniques. You also get different weapons to use on pedestrians,Police,Paramedics(so they can stop bringing dead gangsters back to life) and Gangsters alot of these people carry money and weapons you can also swim around drive strong cars and motorbikes down lots of big mountains(or the biggest mountain in the state,Mt.Chilliad in san fierro) planes and helicoptors are fun to fly you will find planes ate the three airports and helicoptors on helipads if you have only just started the game you still get to fly planes go down to the L.S. airport(south of Los sontos) your plane atributes will not be enough but just ignore the gate keeper climb on top of his office(pressing square) and then jump over the fence and you will get to planes the Dodo(the crummy plane from GTA3 but is now more easy to fly) and Shamel but be careful where u fly because if you go to the other two cities(if you havent unlocked them yet) you will get an Automatic 4-star wanted level.but what really fuels up this game is the cheats, some cheats are from GTA:Vice city. from F.G.,Coventry,England.
Great game.

CJ ran away from home after his brother died, but now its time to go back. His mother was shot in a drive-by that was intended to kill his other brother, Sweet, and he has to go back to bury her. But he ends up staying longer then that.
The gang Sweet is the leader of is called Grove Street Families, but since CJ left the gang has gone from ruling the town to just another gang no one really cares about. There's a huge crack problem thats made everyone completely change into different people, and now that CJ's back, Sweet needs his help to get Grove Street back on track.
There are other things besides the main storyline, like all GTA games. One new feature is that you can buy clothes from different stores (that you unlock as you progress through the game) and mix and match. Your clothes determine how much respect you get from gang members, and how many compliments you get from people on the street.
The clothes that raise your "sex appeal" the most, halfway, are the "special" outfits, that you can only get through missions or... dating. Yes, that's right, dating. If you get your relationship to 100% with certain women, they'll give you outfits.
There are a few downsides, nothing that affect the overall gameplay. Blocky hands, wierd movements when talking, driving controlls suck, things like those that don't affect you. Other then that, I recommend this game to any fans of GTA or rockstar games, and anyone who's mature enough to handle it.
I LOVE IT!!!

This is one game I've played since it first came out. The only thing I've had trouble with is "territory Take-over".
But, past that it is a very good game. Here's a tip for parents with kids who complain about this and previous gta games: Don't ever buy it for your kids.

How can a mere game change a person's life? Because this is not just a mere game. It's like taking a step into another dimension where things are completely psycho, but it's ok. Awesome plot and storyline that leaves you hanging on the edge waiting to see what happens next. I'm drawn in. The vehicles, the driving, the sub missions the characters - Fabulous.
Cons:
A little stretched out driving from place to place. More often than not I get sidetracked on a friendly killing spree (I love this game:))
It took about 2 weeks after completing this game for me not to be edge whenever I saw someone wearing purple.
A little blockish here and there. Probably cuz I'm on PC.
Some mission are EXTREMELY HARD to complete. Are you going to play or quit? I thought so....
Oh yeah. My moral compass tells me that I really shouldn't be playing it. Buying into fantasy violence can't be good for the soul. I'll think about this more deeply after I complete GTA IV.
Been Playing it For Years

I love this game. I have literally been playing it for years. I bought it when it first came out and was really impressed with the missions and all the new things that the main character can do. Life caught up with me and I stopped playing it for a couple of years and recently around Christmas time I started playing it again. I picked up right where I ended and am now close to being finished with the missions. I have played for over 50 hours over the years and most of the time I am just flying around, driving around, or exploring. I love how you can find places tucked away on a road and you can go inside and buy a drink or play arcade type games. Once you open up the entire map you could probably play for years and just do races, driving/flying school, increase your skills, eat until he vomits, change clothes/tattoos/hair, swim, life weights, play basketball, ride a bike, etc, and do the missions at your leisure.
What I love most is the flying. You can fly with pretty good control and with some aircraft you can shoot while flying. I enjoy just flying around and trying to fly under bridges and between buildings without crashing.
If I had to say what I don't like, I guess I could come up with a few. I find the FBI almost too hard. Once they come it is sometimes impossible for me to escape unless I can get in a good car. If you are on foot they get you quickly. I also don't care much for the dancing missions and ones where you have to hit specific controls and specific times. Some missions are just a little silly.
Overall this is a great game! My wife and I get a kick out of listening to some of the pedestrians talk and the commercials on the radio are hilarious. We are still hearing new things at different parts of the city.
I am sad that the next GTA game will be on PS3 which I don't have. I literally may get the PS3 someday just so I can play the new GTA games as they come out.
While this isn't a game for kids, it is definitely a game that will be worth the money for game play time and challenge.

I have mixed feelings about this game. It has endless replay value if you like to explore and have endless hours to play. Would have been a great game when I was younger. But now I'm a career man, don't have the time to search around and the world seems too big. I'm only half done with the game, up to San Fiero, but I can't seem to get too familiar with the streets and things like I did in Vice City. Plus most of the state seems pretty bland, yah, there are miles of houses but only a small fraction have something of value to find in or near them. I don't know, I just had a lot more fun with Vice City- I'm giving up and gonna try Grand Theft Auto 4 when I have the time... this game can go back where I got it from.
The best PS2 game EVER!!!!!!!

In GTA you can do what you can't do in real life. The best PS2 game ever made and the best of the series. I can't wait till GTA 4. It's gonna be AWESOME!
Much different than the Driver series, but fun on its own merits

After being a fan of the Driver series and trying the first two or three GTA games, I couldn't see why people were comparing the two games. Maybe I didn't give the first GTA games a decent chance, because I was too absorbed by the "behind the wheel" feeling of Driver (despite its bugs, which have become amusing). My limited experience with the first GTA games was that GTA felt like a car version of Frogger, due to the overhead viewing angle. San Andreas is better in that respect, but it was amusing to see that I could pick up prostitutes and have fun with them, and later kill them and take their money if so desired. (Just be careful who you choose to kill or where you do it, because the cops and/or other people might gang up on you, in which case you will probably get killed. LOL.) The action outside of the car is perhaps where San Andreas stands out against the Driver series. I still can't see why some people want to compare Driver and GTA as if they are the same kind of games, because they aren't. Both are good in their own ways, but definitely don't fall into the same category for comparison purposes. If you are more interested in behind-the-wheel action, Driver seems to be more exciting. If you are looking more for out-of-the-car action, GTA is probably the way to go. I like both the Driver series and GTA San Andreas. Maybe I should revisit the earlier GTA games and see if I'm missing out on some of the out-of-the-car fun.
