This will be the third final fantasy with a female lead role. The other two were U.S. ff3, or jap ff6 and ff legend 2. There will be a job system, and X-2 will continue with the roles of Yuna and Rikku, and another girl. I think this will be a great game.
People are WAY too stereotypical ...

Well there's not much said that hasn't been said or needed to be said, but I decided I'd like to voice my own opinion on this matter anywho.
Yeah, I own the game. I've not beaten it yet, nor have I gotten past chapter 3 (or remember much about it since it's been a LONG while since my PS2 has been working) but ya know, this review has been a long time coming.
First of all, I did not buy the game cause there are three cute ladies on the cover. I personally thought this would be like any other FF game where you pick up more characters, but then I'm wrong ain't I? Some folks, I'll use my own "friend" for the example, think that Square Enix is Saten and should just GIVE UP, and don't even give their games a chance OR just plan to look for every flaw that they can find. That in mind, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but hey I bought the game when it came out before I even KNEW that Square and Enix merged. Personaly, I don't give a damn!
Moving on, I can find lots of flaws in other FF games made by Squaresoft, but no one blames square for that. An example, I don't particularly like FFVII, cause Sephiroith was just ... insane, that was it. Run of the mill insane bad guy, but with interesting diologue and nice threads. But hey, I thought he was cool lookin and all that, but not a very creative villain. Not compared to others at least. Let the record show that my favorite game is FFIX, cause I didn't give a damn about what they looked like, cause folks so easily just "judge a book by it's cover". The people who gave this game a bad review were probably (though I know not everyone) thinks FFVII is one of the best games, if not the best, and also only like cool looking villains or depressing story lines cause HEY who wants up beat now adays? Not that these people are WRONG, but don't sound like they don't imagin other possibilities for a good adventure, OR find much else interesting, which is all fine!
Now on to FFX-2 now that I've laid that down. Graphics were, well, very well done and beautifully rendered. Not much bad about that. Music was not the stereotypical FF music, which I was kinda dissapointed with. After all, I'm not going to argue that Nobuo Uematsu is an amazing and wonderful composer, who's music I loved, though I'm not going to hate the game cause the Stereotypes don't add up. This new music surely isn't a well thought replacement for Uematsu, but neither is it the crappiest thing in the world. Now the theme ... at first I really did dispise this "Charly's Angels" theme they were goin with, though I gave it some thought and play time and it really didn't bug me much at all ... no really, it's funny and cute and works with the upbeat theme the game is going with. The only DOWNFALL is that Yuna's character seems "stretched" to fit this role ... I mean, that's the only thing I didn't particularly liked. Other than that, it's really just cute. now for the STORY well ... I havn't beaten it yet, so I don't know how things are going to turn out. Tell you right now, I've been dissapointed with plenty of FF endings, and I'm giving this one some hope (FFIX may be my favorite game, but the ending threw me for too much of a loop ... I'm going to have to give it a second playing!). Oh and I can't forget about the Battle system, probably the reason why I find this game so interesting. All right, YES they are called Dresspheres, but what the heck do you want them to be called? Something scientific sounding, or simpler for people to better understand? If you chose simpler, then how simpler can you get other than "Dressphere"? Well, anywho, the changing of jobs in the heat of battle was deffinatly a great bonus, and works with the story of how the spheres operate. The cutscenes are dramatic and flash, not what we really care for in the heat of a battle. But folks, is this a gory dramatized game, or is this an upbeat fantasy game? The use of the grid system was also quite usefull, which gave tactical players more tricks in their back pockets. Now, my "friend" I was talking about before felt that this was the WORST part of the game, and kept saying that FFV had SUCH a better system. Well, V let you take two classes after battle and put em together much like how FFtactics does, which is all right ... But well ... how the hell do you call that better than what X-2 is doin? Now, you can play between dozens of different classes during the same charge time without penalty, and every character has an interesting way of innovating that job. I mean, hell, what's bad about that? If you don't like the cutscenes, you CAN turn em off. That being said, I can't see how FFV (which was the first FF game I ever played and what got me into FF) has a better battle system than FFX-2. Hell, here's my e-mail, [...], send me an arguement that I havn't heard about anything I've said. The Battle System was dramatic, interesting, and to argue about the point that you can't tell what's goin on and who's who, I both agree and disagree. I agree when Yuna uses her ultimate thingamajig that sometimes you can't see what the hell you're fighting, and yeah that does suck. But I can't see how any bimbo can target the wrong side ... they give you a LIST of both players and enemies ya know ... it's up and down, or left and right if you wanna switch between good guys and bad guys. Other than that, NOT BAD! The Trigger Happy thing takes a bit to get used too, but it's nothing big. Just gotta know what's goin on and keep alert. If you don't pay attention or you delay for too long, you are gonna find yourself DEAD in no time! You just gotta practice at it. I figured it out in about an hour of battle time, and havn't forgotten it yet.
That's the game in a nut shell. Overall I give it a 4 because there are just some things I thought coulda been done better. Here's a good question, could the SEQUAL to X itself have been better? I mean, did it have to be this? I'll agree it didn't, and it's not quite what I expected, but it's not a failure and Square Enix didn't do as bad a job as so many folks say they did. Hey, if you did your research on Enix and Square, and didn't judge the game cause of the fact that it's Square Enix, then I've no grudge against ya. But just so many arguements from folks who say the game sucked just don't add up to me ... everytime it comes down to it, it's either just because they are too "manly" or above the theme of the game. Again, e-mail is [...], and I LOVE a good arguement. Won't SOMEONE try to convince me this is a horrible game? No really, I NEED a good arguement!
Bad plot + Bad Gameplay+ Bad voice acting = ff x-2

Alright where to start. Yuna is looking for Tidus after the events of Final fantasy 12 and finally recieves a lead in the form of a video sphere. Sounds like a good setup but its not. From there things just go downhill. A friend of mine once had trouble beating a boss so i told him "just hold down the x button and they will manually attack" and this actually worked for the entire game. X-2 is a standard turn based rpg except the characters all move and attack alot faster than usual. There is a job class system that also changes the characters's clothes. The dressup/job system is actually fairly entertaining as you can switch classes during battle and gain new jobs. That said the gameplay isn't very original, the voiceacting is just as bad as before(rikku is still annoying), and Yuna became a ho. This game is the actual reason why square doesn't repeat a story in the final fantasy series; sequels always suck
Brilliant... and very overlooked!

I don't care what anyone says. This is Final Fantasy for heaven's sake. Why are there people giving this awesome game a measly 2 or 3 stars to such an incredible game? I can't answer that one, but I will give an honest and fair review. I will cover each element in the game.
STORY: Wow, if you thought the story in FFX was complicated, then you haven't seen anything yet! First of all, Yuna, Rikku, and newcomer Paine are on a mission to find spheres, uncovering Spira's past. In doing this, Yuna hopes to reunite with an old friend one last time. However, along the way, the girls get sidetracked with the development of a mass-destructive bioweapon known as Vegnagun. Many mysteries, secrets and pasts unwind through (sometimes creepy) spheres found in locations throughout Spira.
CHARACTERS: Most of the characters in FFX-2 also appeared in FFX. However there are some newbies: Paine, Leblanc, Nooj, Baralai and Gippal to name a few. But the main character in the game is Yuna. Every character in the game has a significant role sometime throughout the storyline. And Lulu, Kimahri and Wakka return as well.
BATTLES: This may be a new direction for Final Fantasy, but old habits die hard. The battles are still random. But, they're MUCH easier than the ones in FFX, especially where boss fights are concerned. Things may start off shaky at the beginning of the game, but trust me, you'll get used to it. Also, I should mention the inclusion of "dresspheres" that allow the girls to change clothes in battle, which may seem stupid, but their attacks change as well. Sadly, there are no aeons (but don't worry; they'll play a big part in the storyline during the second half of the game).
SIDEQUESTS: FFX-2 is just packed with these. The biggest sidequest is Sphere Break, a new coin game that seems to be the fad in Spira. While it may seem similar to Triple Triad from FFVIII, it's definitely more exciting than Blitzball.
LOCATIONS: Mostly, all of the locations are the same ones from FFX. Some have changed drastically (Kilika, Bikanel) while others haven't really changed at all.
ENDING: I haven't made it this far just yet. However I do know that there are 3 different endings. There's the regular ending, an extended ending for altering the last cutscene, and yet another alternate ending for completing the game 100%. Supposedly, the last boss in the game should be familiar as well.
CONS: There really isn't anything bad in this game. Although, it does ruin some of the moments in FFX. For instance, the ending to the prequel was really sad, but some of the events in this storyline make that seem really cheesy, if you ask me. Otherwise, it's a great game!
So, for all you FFX-2 haters, know that there is no such thing as a bad Final Fantasy. This gem is no exception. If you liked FFX, then you'll LOVE this. But if you haven't played FFX yet, do that before purchasing this or you'll be really lost in the storyline.

i didnt know that i had to be 13 years old and be a girl to play this game. i would have instead bought my self some barbies instead. basically yuna acts like a 13 year old, paine like a 14 year old pretending to be 21 and rikku, oh gosh, she's the most annoying of them all, like a spoiled brat. yuna isnt the character she played in ffx, now shes more, WAY more immature...and the dancing and singing, yuck, ill turn it on mute.

first of all, the chapter sistem truly s*cks it avoids you to do something that you forgot to do in one mision, to do it in another, and the only reason for it is because they fell like doing it like that, not because the world changfed, no reason at all, just beacause the mision endend, then this is the first final fantasy without no summons, if you are a final fantasy gamer you know that summons are a very important part of the games, this is a great game for litlle girls, because you get to change the outfit of 3 girls, you have like 30 dreses to choose, hte story line s*cks, it hasnt got the deep of any other final fantasy ,they put this new character i dont know her name, i forgot, she looks like squall from ff VIII , but she got no real traumas, here story you go revealing it trought the story, and it is not even necesary to find out anything about her, then the lie that the game has 2 different endings, is one ending, the one you want were all your question are answered, and the characters fullfil their mision, and the other were just the game ends, you dont get anything, that one is a really s*cking ending, to get the "great" ending you must discver everything about the game in a certain order, so if you want the complete ending the only real choise youve got one the game is in what level you end it, and you wont be able to get the complete ending without a walkthrough, and a walktrogh really ruins the ff experience.

Final Fantasy X-2 is the first direct sequel to any Final Fantasy game ever created. It stars the 2 main lead characters in Final Fantasy X, Yuna and Riku, and it introduces a new character, the comic relief, Pain. Final Fantasy X-2 is set 3 years after the defeat of Sin (the final boss of Final Fantasy X), Yuna has been renowned for saving Spira (the fictional world of Final Fantasy X and X-2) and is now retired as a summoner, as she goes through this lade back stage where she does what she wants, a sphere is brought to her attention. It contains information on the love of her life, Tidus. She learnes that he could still be alive and eventuly goes on an adventure to find him, and so the new epic andventure of the Final Fantasy titles begins.

FFX was one of my favorite RPGs. The story in it was deep but not so deep that you couldn't just have fun and relax.
It ended on the perfect note for me, with a tragic yet heroic ending. So, if you loved the ending and thought that it was complete, my advice would be don't get this game. And if your anti-pop culture you might want to stay away from it as well.

This game was so disappointing. I mean Yuna was a smart, all together character in FFX, and in this game they make her into a ditsy, gun toating, diva. Not to mention the fact that there are no weapons to equip, and i won't even get started on the silly dresspheres. Like other reviews have stated, i agree i have no idea who this game was supposed to appeal to and it makes me worry about the upcoming Final Fantasy games.
