This game wicked cause i tried it at my friends house, to all you fans of dbz or not a fan this game is awsome even though u never watch the show or play the games. I don't watch the show much but THIS GAME OWNS MOST OF THE OTHER ONES.There is like over 40 chars and more new stuff like battle scense or style. Most of all i like the chars and the story mode. You can find different attacks for different chars and it's kinda hard cause you have to find most of all thechars move in du mode. THIS IS THE MOST INPORTENT GAME IN THE WHOLE PS2 HISTORY. It's worth to buy it even though it's like $50. Here goes my Christmas and hope you will buy it too. LAST FOR THE WHOLE CHRISTMAS OR A EVEN A MONTH enjoy this game. You won't regret anything when u buy this it's perfectly 100% good. If ur older then me cause i'm 11 you will still like cause i'm a stinking game manic with all the system out even nintendo ds. GOOD LUCK and have fun :)

The DBZ Budokai franchize is on a whole new level
Pros:
-Excellent graphics
-Supereb Gameplay
-Good ol' voice acting
-New level up system(Upgrade by getting EXP RPG style, AWESOME!!)
-New battle improvments(After doing death moves you can add a kick or 2, and you can go in hypermode, and play a game of "press the button and hope the computer doesn't press the same." Nice)
-Packing 40 characters is quite a wallop of a punch
-Flying around in story mode is awsome!
-Power moves are flat out awsome
-I love fighting in tournament mode
-Collecting Dragonballs is a bit of a adventure
-This is the best DBZ game EVER!!
Cons:
-Unlocking takes a bit of a while(Quite a bit of people to use in story mode)
-Looking for dragonballs is a bit frustrating(Switching between map to look where you're going, and Dragon radar to find dragonball)
-Sometimes story mode leaves out something
-I didn't really like Dragonball GT
Finally a DBZ game that gets acclaim from bigtime game sites(ex gamespot, gamespy, and IGN). This is the game DBZ fans have been dreaming of. And it was a great triliogy that got better and better till the very end. This game should be owend by those who are familiar with the DBZ series, and even those unfamiliar with the DBZ franshize should give this a shot, because I have a friend who hated DBZ cause it dragged on for a while(ex goku using spirit bomb on Frieza), but he liked this game for it's fast paced RPG style tactics. This goes to show DBZ has reached a level beyond the level of a simple fighting game.
Peace
this game rocks!!!!!!!!!

dragon ball z budokai 3 is the beat game i have ever played. The new dragon universe is very enjoYABLE WITH fly mode and hunting down the dragon balls. There are a lot more attacks and skills like gogeta and ss4 goku and vegeta. The dragon rush is very good and it is very fun except when you defend they can rack up a lot of damage. The new characters are fun to get and it will take a while to get them all. I also like that characters have their own story modes and can level up. This game is a must get for dbz fans and if your not, take this game and give it a try.
Never better... The best DBZ/GT fighting game ever

The previous Budokai games were highly anticipated, but didn't really give gamers what they wanted. Atari takes those gamer wants and translates them into an incredible fighting game known as Dragonball Z: Budokai 3. When I finally got a chance to play this game, I was just blown away. There's so many new additions to Budokai 3 that kept the previous Budokai games from ever becoming forever remembered fighting games.
The graphics of Budokai 3 are amazing. The game is cel-shaded like the previous Budokai, but with more depth. The characters look like they came straight out of the show and just about everything has been changed. Auras, which are the energy fields that surrounds the characters, now look like they were taken directly from the show. Even SS4 Gogeta's aura has the sparkles like in the show. Ki Blast Waves look different depending on the character. And the character stances even change when you transform. Even the special attacks look exactly like on the shows (example: Kid Goku's Kamehameha).
The fighting system has been completely upgraded. Even if you've become incredible in Budokai 1 or 2, you'll still be forced to learn the game over again. The newest addition to the game is the Saiyan Overdrive Fighting system. Ki management has never been less frustrating. Now there is a baseline level of Ki. Whenever you fall under that baseline, your Ki automatically regenerates. And when it rises over that, it naturally falls back down. The baseline Ki changes depending on the transformation. So now you can equip Goku's SS3 capsule without worry of heavy drainage of Ki. And Ki also affects your character's Attack and Guard. When Ki falls below the baseline, your Guard percentage lowers. When it rises above the baseline, your Attack percentage increases. Now having the maximum amount of Ki gauges means having max power. Also, a new teleport feature has been implanted into the game. You can now teleport behind an opponent and counterattack them, but it takes 3 Ki gauges to use, which is the baseline for most characters. You can also use this teleportation feature to "pinball" your opponents in the air by knocking them backwards and pressing the Circle button. This is an effective way of defeating opponents, but it drains 1 Ki gauge for every time you teleport, and it only can be done 3 or 4 times in a row. But the most creative feature to the fighting engine is the Hyper mode. By pressing L2, you can engage Hyper mode, which enables you to take damage from normal combos and not be stunned. In Hyper mode, you can also activate your Ultimate move by pressing L2 again (if you have it equipped) or use the Dragon Rush by trying to "pinball". When you use Dragon Rush, you get to see a cinematic onslaught of attacks. During that, you and your opponent must press a button and if your buttons are the same, the Dragon Rush ends. If they aren't, the Dragon Rush continues. There are three rounds of this and the Dragon Rush can easily take out 1 bar of health if all three rounds go to the attaker. With the Ultimate move, you must press the X button when the bottom bar is near full three times. Whoever has the bar closest to full wins it and damage of the Ultimate move is affected. New features also include dodging, burst mode-style Beam Struggles, and every character fights differently from the previous Budokai games, all the reason that you have to learn the game over again. The only problem with gameplay is that Ultimate moves will likely never be seen against a good opponent.
Sounds are incredible. You have the best voice acting in any of the Budokai games (excluding a few such as Broly and Cell), and the music, while of the rock origin, is amazing, considering I prefer hip hop. And the story mode voice acting is just plain incredible. Also, when you transform, the character says a short phrase or a cool-sounding roar. Just, just, beautiful.
I suggest you buy this game ASAP if you're a DBZ fan or not! Just a great overall improvement in the gameplay, graphics, everything! The legendary game of all DBZ games!

DBZ B3 is great because it is a ton of fun and it is simple to pick up and enjoy. The characters controls are all the same (eventhough action animations are all different) so it is very simple to pick up new characters from the huge available list and just go to town. Its just fun- strategicly speaking, certain characters have certain strengths, some have more effective attacks and resource management than others, but if you want a fighter that you are just gonna have fun with---pick it up! Not being a DBZ fan isnt that important- but it is helpful to know at least a bit about the show.

This game is great, it's the best DBZ yet... I have played almost every DBZ game that has come out, including GT Final Bout, Budokai, Budokai 3, Tenkaichi, Tenkaichi 2, and Super Dragon Ball... and I came to the conclusion that Budokai 3 it's the best for several reazons: first of all the graphics are good, it may look a little squared sometimes but as it is in a "2D" format you won't notice it; second, the controls are easy, you learn them fast and allow you a large number of combos and combinations; the amount of characters avaliable is perfect, there are 40 characters and 50 transformations, which is mora than eough to give you from where to choose and not too large to overwhelm you.
The story mode does skip some potentially good fights but it allows you to play the fights exactly as they looked in the series, not as in the Tenkaichi 2 game, where you get to read the results of the fights.
The fact that you can customize your characters gives you a lot of freedom and a sense of pride with any character you play.
The introduction of Dragon Rush and the rock, scissors, paper game was perfect, not allowing too experiences players to completely decimate amateurs without a fighting chance (and they look great), even though they are repetitive they won't annoy you (unless you are a pure "I play wihtout emotional crap" kind of player.
And yes, it is possible to learn how the computer fights and acquire a strategy to win every time, but in which fighting game isn't it?, the great thing about this game is the 1p against 2p mode anyway.
The game is great, buy it, it's a must have for any DBZ fan and even others.
