One of the worst games ever created

I remember buying this game and thinking, "this is going to be another cool shooting game, kinda like Max Payne." Well, I was completely wrong on both accounts. This game is terrible, and it is NOTHING like Max Payne. The graphics are some of the worst I have ever seen in a video game, even for the time period that this game came out in. The controls are also some of the worst I have ever encountered. The worst part of this game, however, is the plot/gameplay. In short - there is no plot. This guy just runs around killing things while his stupid pet does dumb tricks that a real dog would never do.

This game is a cheap knockoff of Max Payne, and it performs poorly. I would recommend sticking your head in the toilet over buying this game. At least you can take a shower afterwards.

TRASH

If you have no values in life other than yourself this game is for you. I got rid of it as I did not want my dog to get any ideas. Cross the street and find a better game.

Great Action And Story

I've never really felt the minigames were a detriment to the game itself but I can see the point about them disrupting the flow of the action. I think in most cases though they really helped the story along and that's a big plus for this game. I really appreciate when games care about the story and this one really does with Chris Bruno (Sheriff Bannerman on USA's "The Dead Zone") doing a hell of a job narrating the story as Jack Slate. And the action is perfect: fast and fun. You'll never get tired of the disarms or going into bullet time to take out a room full of heavily armed thugs.

Great game that deserves some credit.

I won't write a lengthy review, as many others on here have said enough. However, I would like to inject my own thoughts, as I enjoyed this game immensely. Sure, It may be a Max Payne spinoff, ripoff,or whatever you may label it, but it does have some unique qualities of it's own. I played Max payne one and two, and both games have some striking similarities. Both Max and Jack are cops who have lost loved ones to horrific violence, and are intent on revenge and retribution, no matter what it takes. Heck, the two even resemble each other physically. One thing Max did not have, was Shadow, the faithful k9.

I just finished this game a few days ago, and I'll be honest..for me, this was one of the most challenging games I have played for a while. The bosses in this game are the toughest I have faced so far, and I spent many nights tossing my controller down in frustration. Overall, if you are into the noir, this is for you. Despite my liking this game, it's not without it's flaws

Pros:

Good graphics
Nice array of weapons
great storyline
Excellent controls

Cons:

Mini-games..This is a true waste of time, especially the lifting part. I'm surprised i did not damage my controller buttons, lol.

Awkward camera angles on some levels.

Other than that, I highly suggest this game, as it's super cheap now. Enjoy!

Great game for all type of gamers

It is gritty and dark story about a Bronson/Eastwood like cop. It is action game , there is shooting (best solved problem of PS2 having no mouse to move crosshair ), fist figting and minigames. You can turn blood off, and there is plenty of challenge although I played and completed on Rookie Level.

Some bosses are too easy, some I'd never beat without reading FAQ, and some levels, like ninth , are TOO long compared to the ones that follow.

And yeah, if you think it is repetitive, try Quake 4 to see what is repetitive.

It is ridiculous to compare this game to Jak and Daxter, but I got so much fun outta both, and they left very high impression on me.

Great game with one problem

This is a pretty good game. You pick up weapons every 3 seconds and kill a ton of guys. It can be fun, but it gets repetitive. It will really hurt your hands too considering you have to click a dozen times to do stuff. If you don't want to hurt your hands, run up to guys and use the disarm techniques.

Great game

This game is one of the best I ever played. This game tells the story about a bad ass K-9 police officer named Jack Slate avenging his father's death and kicking any/everyone's ass that gets in his way. The graphics are great, the weapons are great and this is a hit. The attitude, fun and aggressiveness of the game makes it one of a kind. I give this game 10/10.

Gets a little repetetive

This is ausome at what it does. If you liked Max Payne you'll love this. You get to shoot whilst holding a weapon in each hand, slow mo dives, you can use your dog to charge at your enemies. There's some great hand to hand combat with disarming(getting gun of enemy)an enemy being the best. Push something like square and circle you'll automaticly do an ausome move.

There's the odd mini game such as dissarming bombs, pick locking and there's a Metal Gear like torture scene.

Definitely worth owning

This game is a lot of fun. This game is about a cop who is on deathrow for killing the man who supposedly killed his father. The best thing about this game are the weapons. You get a lot of different weapons, and you can even sik your dog on people. You can use people as shields, and shoot them in the head as soon as you're done with them. The levels are strategically complex at times, which is good because you have to use your brain for a change, it's not all just bloods and guts. Oh, another thing about this game is that there are live strippers! LOL. Who ever made this game had a huge imagination. This game reminds me of Silvester Stallone movies like Lock Down and Tango and Cash. Of course, I'm referring to the prison chapters of the game, where you have to fist fight muscle-bound thugs. It's funny how some prisoners come to you for protection...Everyone, you owe it to yourself to add this game to your collection.

Great present!

I got this game for Cristmas, and Im glad I put it on my list.Lets put it simple though, this game rules!!It totally reminds me of true crime, and is just as good.It isnt as hard as alot af games, but that doesnt not make it fun.You get to use people as human sheilds, and use slo mo fighting is cool too.And it has a great price too.One last thing, its alittle gory, but you can deactivate the blood.Nd the mature sexual themes,Theres one''exotic dance club''ith girls so please parents,if you think this is a dirty game thats wrong.I would say if your about 12 or13,you can totally handle it.As I said, its a great game,so buy it and have fun MERRY CHRISTMAS TOO ALL AND HAVE GREAT TIME WITH YOUR FAMILIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
