I bought this game thinking it would be a fun racing game...i spent [money]! u can race and gain points on a different section by causing crashes the crashs are really lame because random cars accedently hit other cars that has nothing to do with the crash, anyways its not worth the money rent it before you buy it, trust me.

overrated - i'd rather race than watch crashes

Everybody talks about the crashes in this game, but I found them rather annoying. I'd rather race the freaking race but it seemed like with every little fender bender the game would stop the racing to show you a long drawn out crash. Plus the graphics, to be honest, look like plastic parts on a scale model. The worst part, however, is in the interface. It takes forver to get through about half a dozen useless screens with useless, illegible data (like, who cares?) to get from race to race. Even when the game saves, instead of cutting right to the next screen it stops everything to tell you the obvious (game saved) and you have to x-button your way through that too. The interface is infuriating actually. The game consists mostly of navigating endless interface screens and watching crashes that get really old really quickly, and now and then actually racing. Midnight Club 2 might not be perfect, but it's a lot more fun.

It Gets Boring after a while

Burnout 2 is ok. It gets really boring after you played it 20 times. All you do is crash cars and race. Its grafics are ok. There not the best. You should rent it or borrow it from somebody its not worth 20 dollars.

Pretty Good, but Gran Tourismo Better

This game is very similar to Gran Tourisma, the de facto standard in car racing games for PS2. It has a few attributes that make it fun, specifically the underground, rebel vibe of racing on populated highways rather than organized race tracks like GT. People are excited about the crashes, and that is a cool factor, but even that is not too well integrated into the game play.

The crashing only happens as an end to your ride. So you get the fun crash when you total your car, and you get an instant replay of the crash, which is fun to watch. But you don't get crashes during driving, that disable you and allow you to continue driving, the way you do in Grand Theft Auto. You'd be better off buying that game if you want the feeling of crashing around on the highway.

Unlike Gran Tourismo, Burnout did not go to the extra expense of licensing well know music, and actual cars into their game. They took the cheap way out and put in fake versions of real cars and other silly original creations. The music is from unknown artists, and has a cheesy Karioki vibe to it. Not too good. This game is probably a good half way point between GTA and Gran Tourismo, but is not near as good as either in their strength areas. Buy it cheap if you can, but don't get too excited. It's not that great.

Ho Hum.

The only games I play are driving games and martial arts. This is not the best driving game. It has it's good points, like cool crashes and lots of places to drive, but the graphics are mediocre and it does get boring fast. Honestly, I would rather play the first Need for Speed, because it never seems to get boring. My advice is look elseware.

Look out Grand Turismo

Burnout 2 is a great game, and it improves on everything the first one did, and is just a little better. The graphics are improved and you can see farther in the game (can't remember the technical term for that) so it makes going fast much cooler so you can see way ahead to know where you're going. They kept the turbo meter, which works well in this one too, and have a good selection of cars. They even added a "Crash" game where you and up to 4 players (using a multitap) can crash your car and see who causes the most amount of damage.

The one thing it took away, which isn't that big a deal, was everytime you wreck it doesnt tell you how much money in damage you caused, which was kind of a neat feature and made you feel like you earned that wreck. I can't give this game 5 stars for the simple reason it doesnt have a solid enough 2 player mode, and lets face it, driving games are so much more fun racing against buddies. It (like the first one)only gives you like 3 tracks to race in 2 player mode, so I definately think they should improve on that, but otherwise a great game!

Awesome Crashes!!!

This game is the coolest! I played it when my friends came over and it's awesome. The crashes are 100% realistic, and now there's even a Crash Mode, where you have to get the biggest crash and get the most damage and owe the most money you can. In one level, you can even go flying off a cliff!
I would have given it five stars, but the racing mode can kinda get a little boring. When I played it, I almost always came in first, and the opponents get up to 7 seconds behind you, so if you make a brutal crash, they still don't catch up. Overall, though, this game is one of the best car games i've ever played.

This game is exteremly fun to crash and also to race because in the racing you can crash. The crashes have amazing detail and acause a chain reaction making other cars crash. I would not reccomend to 8 years of age and below. This is more fo 10 and 14 year olds. All and alll it is a fun game. My friend is a car nut and he owns all these games where yo must keep your car nice but who doesnt want to crash every once in a while. It has a short list of things to do such as a crash, pursiut and small minigames but it gets worn out after an hour. But the cars are amazing some have power some are have speed some have good ccelaration. Over all I give this game 4 stars thanks to to the limited things to do it has a star down.

Pretty Good

I just got this game yesterday and it is almost perfect but it can get really annoying when it takes so long to load the games. It is good because you have a scence that you are in the car and you want really drive the car. The one things that they could do to improve Burnout 2 is to use brand-name cars. Instead, they use things like "Roadster" or "Hot Rod". Even what I don't understand is how they came up with the name "Oval Racer". It looks just like a Nascar Race car. All in all, I would buy this game.
