Burnout 2 is one of the best racing games I have ener bought! It was pure geinuess to add pursuit races on the game. I gotta hand it to the developers, this game is freaking awesome! It has so many more cars in the game than the last one. I love that they based the game on The Fast and The Furious. The decked out cars are pretty cool. My favorite car is the green decked out coupe. The crashes just blow away Gran Turismo 3 and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2. When you unlock the cheats for the game it becomes even better.
Happy Gaming

This is for people that like driving really fast. This game is quite tense because you don't know if your going to crash into a car when you turn that corner. Sometimes you get frustrated by it. People are saying it gets boring but that happens with every great game. When I get a new game I play it(for first 10 days) nearly all day like for 12 hours and thats why I get bored of games like over people. People say it makes you sweat and grin and that's true.

This game is fast. Really, really fast. Your nerves regularly get frayed during the points where it's made obvious that you have to use multiple turbo boosts to catch up with the leader, and this usually results in a frenzied kamikaze charge through busy intersections and oncoming traffic. Funnier still is the fact that even though you frequently travel at the speed of sound, you can somehow scrape dangerously close to 40 foot articulated lorries and swerve past a palm tree within an inch of your life. Ultimately though, you'll wrap yourself around a schoolbus in a cringeworthy shower of shrapnel and with a very terminal crunching sound.
And this is the fun. This game revels in the art of crashing - there's even a minigame where the emphasis is causing massive pile-ups for insurance money. Multi-player is fantastic too, there's nothing quite like the feeling of storming up a busy freeway with your friend trying to nose his way past you, and then forcing him into the path of an oncoming truck. Or during single player when you find yourself cursing the car that has just overtaken you, only to whoop with glee as he piledrives into a jack-knifed 18-wheeler seconds later.
The computer controlled cars are generally pretty nippy, but ingeniously do occasionally wipe themselves out when they're under pressure.
The game gets quite hard too around about the Custom Championship, and you'll soon find it hard to unlock the remaining bonus cars and tracks. My only gripe with this astounding game is that it has quite a lot of bugs. Nothing too earth-shattering, just graphical glitches like smashing against a wall only to find your car drifting through space and twirling about in a blue vortex for 30 seconds. And this happens quite a lot. Your car can get stuck in out-of-bounds places too, and it'll irritatingly jitter about until the game engine figures out that it needs to be repositioned.
Also, the menu system is majorly flawed. Just try to reset a game and you'll be forced to read a minutes worth of options before you can restart. And this happens every single time you finish a race. Very annoying.
So despite a shedload of graphical bugs that you'll more than likely encounter within your first few hours of play, and a patience-testing menu system, this is in my opinion, the best multi-player entertainment the PS2 has to offer.
Cheers.

Let's make this very simple. This game is hands down the best arcade racer available to date. Take Downforce and use it for a coaster it just doesn't compare to Burnout2. I had pretty low expectations when I brought this home. I was extremely pleased with the fast game play, spectacularly detailed courses in large variety! The graphics are remarkable and I witnessed no slow down during the light speed gameplay. The "Crash" games are fun as all get up, and are a huge bonus to this already fun packed game. forget about the silly and frustrating license nonsense of GT3 or the likes. This game is just plain fun and addicting.

my new addiction

All I can say is that I now have a new vice and a new addiction. This game should be banned for being [addictive]...one who plays this will have to at least play the Crash modes every single day lest they suffer withdrawls.
My wife decided that we should get a racing game to play together since she's not into the sports games like I am. Who knew that you could drive like a maniac, crash into cars to rack up the insurance money costs, and be in tears from laughing at how much fun you're having?!
If you do not own this game yet...go out and get it...do no pass Go, do not collect $200.oo! You will not regret it, I promise. Just don't forget to go to work, eat, sleep, and live alittle...hehe.

This game is great racing without any distractions! The setup is minimal and easy. All you have to do is go as fast as you can. This is much better than the original. Definetely a great buy!

This is aa arcade lover's dream. The Crashes in this game greatly surpass any crashes in other game. EVER! I like how they even added a horse-style multiplayer game. Beside the crashes is a substantial racing game. There are far more modes and unlockables than in the last game. this is a must buy for arcade racers.

Its the best game ever

I have always wanted to play a racing game that focused on the crashses as well as the regular game play. I like to see things destroyed, whether they are in movies, tv shows, even video games. When it comes to crashes in other racing games that I have played, they keep keep the POV (point of view) where your driving POV is. Then this game comes along, and during the crashes, it takes you to a 3rd party bystander POV (more like a movie, actually) so you can see all the horrible devastating effects your crash just had! :) The crashes are put into slow motion, just like the movies! Plus, the general game play is great, just like any other arcade racing game.

For the negatives (which aren't many): Though it doesn't matter to me on this particular game (although it may to some), you can't customize your cars.

More positives: There are 3 modes of gameplay. First, complete a set of races to open up more races, areas, and cars. Second, a pursuit mode. Although they should've taken more energy points away for harder the hits on the car instead of one energy point per hit, you get to pursue a car and hit him with your car until their energy bar is to nothing. Hurry up though, you have a short time (at least 4 miles) to reduce the energy bar to nil.

Third positve (and my favorite): Crash. You get to choose any car you want, the boost bar is always filled up for you, and you go out and make as big a mess as possible. Great for blowing off steam after that person just cut you off on the road coming home tonight, or any other incident you may get road raged about.

Absolutely fun game, and with only $20, you can't go wrong!
