Be warned, once you start playing this game it's impossible to stop! A definite must have for Buffy fans.
Story Overview: the game takes place in season 5 as a 'lost episode' sometime after "The Body". You meet several people from Buffy's past and play in very familiar locations such as the Magic Box (complete with Giles, yay!). As with the games XBox predecessor, the completion of most levels requires you to fight and defeat a boss. This sounds intimidating, but these guys can be defeated after a few attempts, all you need is a little strategy. The story is imaginative, engaging and flows well, though the 'puzzles' you face are far from challenging.
Unlike previous Buffy games, this one is supported by multiple platforms: PS2, Gamecube and Xbox. In addition, you play as different characters at different points in the game. (Let me tell you, Willow can kick some serious butt!)
One of the best features of the game is its multiplayer capability which supports up to 4 players and features a "Bunny Catcher" level. The addition of multiplayer capability means this game has replay value for those who don't want to play the single player levels over and over.
Overall, this is a great game, highly recommended. BUT,
there are several 'problems' with the game whereby it strays from the spirit of the show (if you watch the show, these stick out like sore thumbs!):
4. virtually everything is staked and dusts, including the Bringers....what?! Those guys weren't vampires.
3. vampires can be dusted using non-wooden objects such as swords (the pointy metal end)...I haven't figured out how that works.
2. there are points where vampires appear to be fighting outside during the day....how did that happen?
....and the worst fault with the game:
1. you can't play as Giles in multiplayer!!! What's up with that?
With reference to #1, there is an interview with Anthony Head and highlights from his voice-over session. The Giles character also plays a fairly major part in the game, so I guess I can forgive the omission in multiplayer. :-)
In addition, there are a lot of extras including interviews with some of the cast (Buffy, Willow and Anya do NOT have their original voices), highlights of voice-over sessions and outtakes. This was a very nice touch!
Well, I think that covers it....despite its flaws, this game is a keeper. (Or should I say a 'Bringer').
Controls are great

I'm pretty much a novice gamer but that's not for lack of trying. I have to disagree with the person who complained about the controls. The controls are a big part of why I loved this game. They made sense and were simple enough for me to get. Even at first when I didn't know what the heck I was doing, they enabled me to catch on quick without dying. Can't wait until the next game. The only complaint I have is Willow's voice and the multiplayer games. The multiplayer games are really senseless and unfun.
And Willow's voice is awful. Very whiny. But whoever played Buffy got it right on.
This game is AWESOME!

When I first played the game I fell in love with right away. The graphics are so much better than the first one. I loved how they brought in Ethan Rayne and they used psycho patients, faith and Sid the dummy. I loved every level of this game. As each level progress, the harder they are and you have to pay close attention to what you're doing. This game is very addicting because you want to know what happens next in the game, and everytime you finish a level you unlock either an interview with the voice of the characters, comic strip, cast photos, or watch them say a scene that took place from the video game and it's a lot of fun.
To anyone that wants to play an entertaining, spunky, adventerous game.. BUY this..I gurantee you wont be disappointed..it's full of action packed and you'll never bored. No disappoint here.
amazing overall

I got this game a little while ago and I love it! Im a huge BTVS fan so of course I got this as soon as I could. Despite the fact SMG doesnt do Buffys voice, and other characters are missing their real voice, you bearly notice because the real actors are there for their characters, and that seems to support it. The graphics are wonderful for playstation 2 and although the characters faces arent spot on they do have very similar like-ness. Personally, I would have loved a little Angel in the story but thats fine. It progressivly gets harder but its still possible to beat. I would absolutly recommend this game to any Buffy fan and its worth the cost for such a great game. It really is like controlling fights and what not in an episode.
