A Well-Aimed Game for Young Girls - But Cheezy Graphics

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 5 / 7
Date: December 29, 2003

It seems that the same dime-store animators and graphics folk who do the annual video have also created the cheezy graphics for Barbie Horse Adventures. But your daughters are unlikely to care, as this game presents hours of play possibility in the world of Barbie and her friends. My two daughters, age 10 and 7, have been at it for days. One other caveat: The box may say " for one or two players," but the main game is single player only. The secondary "mini games" are two player, but only in the clumsiest split-screen fashion.
This title was $49.95 at full retail. As a parent, one begins to feel ill-used. From the leftover Swan Lake toys on store shelves this year, the feeling may be spreading.

This game is alot of fun! But it gets annoying when you have to find all the foals and how slow barbie is.Besides that its neat and it would be better if when you play 2 players they could ride different horses each. If you play this game for a LONG time it gets boring but when you come back after a while its fun. Alot of younger children could play this game all the time and never get bored of it.

AWESOME GAME!!!Barbie Wild Horse Adventures is TOPS!

I am a busy stay at home Mom & not so good with video games but this one is great for me, oh and my daughter who is 4. She LOVES this game. It is so easy for her but not at all boring. So many different things to do. Change horses, even the horse and mane colors. Change color of eyes, length of mane. Change Barbie's outfits. This is one of the best games I have ever seen. Very lifelike also :o)

this game is amazing!

When i first saw the game being advertised i thought 'oh my god how childish is that!' but my friend got it and insisted that i try it. i can tell you i was amazed!
okay so its a bit annoying when barbie says 'good girl' to the horses all the time,(why can't the horses be boys for a change?) other then that everything else is great.
I enjoyed riding all of the different trails and choosing which horse to use.
My favourite was black with a long mane and tail.
I also enjoyed the two player action. So does my brother!
I'm really glad my friend showed this game to me and i'm glad i bought it.
I rate it 10 out of 10!

Mindless fun for a while...no learning benefit

This game is basically based upon mindless fun. The only thing to learn is the controls of the game, then you just ride around for a few hours and rescue foals and horses. So, it's fun for a while if you simply want to relax and not think. But if you want your kids to actually learn something while they're ruining their eyes infront of the TV, I'd buy a different game.

Now onto the horse critique...
Havas Interactive actually did an amazing job with the horses. Sure, their conformation may not be perfect, but they DO have all the true movments of a real horse. Someone said they only canter and gallop, but they're wrong. The horses can walk, trot, canter, and gallop (I would know, I own a horse in real life)
if you use the right controls. And the horses rear, preform a turn on the haunches, halt, and back up.

I suppose this is a pretty good barbie game, but Havas Interactive really should give kids 7+ (recommened playing age on case) more credit, they aren't stupid...and they only supplied about two puzzles in the game (making your way through a VERY simple maze to get a foal, etc)

I bought Finding Nemo for my Granddaughter for Christmas she found to hard. I looked into Barbie games she loves this one. She is 6 years old and not a experienced game player. I recommend this to any horse loving beginner.

Perfect for a beginner

My six year old loves this game. It's perfect for her, she actually can play the game herself and has completed the game several times and still enjoys playing it. We have both Sponge Bob and Fairly Odd Parents, and she can't play either, they are too difficult. I wish there were more games like this one! If you have a beginner, this game is perfect.

A Wild Ride!

I totally love this game! The graphics rule and the exploring part of the game is awesome. There are three different climates in the game- forest, snowy mountain, and beach. There are 3 levels in each climate. I must admit, the game would be better for kids 7-9, though. My 6 year old sister could figure it out, but it was a sinch for a 10 year old like me. It is sooo awesome, though. Even now I like to play it.

Decorating you and the horse is my favorite part about the game. You can earn different outfits for you and different coat colors for your horse. The prettiest horse I think, is the one you get at the end of the snowy mountain trails. Its the apaloossa.

This game definately deserves 5 stars. You can't stop playing it! And once you get bored, you can play the mini-games like the lassoo challenge or another race. This game is awesome!
