I love this game. It has al of the best creatures, Monsters, and animals. This is unlike any game ive played it has updated graphics and very well designed animation. I felt as if i was really there. My compliments to the creator. This game is easily understandable and can be operated by a fairly efficient computer person.
A poor excuse for a game....

With the coming of many other MMORPG in the next month, there is no reason to pick up this game. The reason?Simple, this add-on is unfinished and shouldn't have left beta stage; While UO in itself is a good , outdated graphically, game, this 'facelift' seems to have turned bad. Its unstable, many crash issues, the 3D graphics are barely acceptable in today's expectations, but still require some very powerful hardware to run it! Patches for a live game should be made to ADD thing to the game and REPAIR game issues that couldn't be foreseen. That's absolutely not the case here, this software is an insult to consummers. Paying 40$ for a game still in 'beta' stage is too high a price.
Not ready for prime time

The original UO is still a great game, and entirely worth themoney. It is the deepest, most satisfying of all the onlinecommunities I've participated in. That being said, UO3D is about theworst thing that's ever been done to that community. This piece ofsoftware should still be in ALPHA, for god's sake!... Buy it if you'reinterested, but stick to the 2d Rennaissance client that comespackaged with it. The UO3D interface will only disappoint you as ithas so many others

I have played UO for over two years. As such I know what happens when they patch UO. It Breaks. The Staff at UO does a great job in fixing/improving the new releases. In my opinon 3rd Dawn is the 2nd best upgrade. The 1st being UO:Renn. I like the eye candy that the 3d Clinet offers. A warning though. Check your hardware before buying. Thought if the 3d mode wont run on your machine, the 2d mode should.
I look forward to the next add on.
An insult to online gaming!

Before anyone buys this game, they should be prepared for the following: 1.) terrible lag times (and I have an extremely good system and connection) due to buggy programming 2.) sub-par "3D" graphics that move terribly 3.) Constant system crashes 4.) deaf Customer Support 5.) at least 5 program-driven error messages per hour. Take it from someone who tested the product numerous times, and then disposed of the game: if you want to join UO, run Ultima Online: Rennesaince instead; it's still available,a and you'll be MUCH happier with the performance and graphics.
DUH!!

Look at the name of it- Ultima Online: Third Dawn. Notice the words, Ultima Online? Those words make it at LEAST a 3 star game. Sure there are bugs on 3rd, but what online game doesnt? Besides, Origin has done fine with fixing bugs so far. Its a bit laggy, well duh! Its an online game, there is going to be lag. Its a 3D game, there is going to be lag. If lag bothers you, use the 2D in fel when u might have to run fast, or if its just too laggy. My dad is in the Army and i just moved here to Germany, when i got here people asked what games do i play? The first thing i said was Ultima Online. They said whats that? Everyone knows what Everquest and Asherons Call is. Why? I think it is because they are 3D. With the creation of UO 3rd Dawn, we UO players might get some recognition from the gaming world.
Beats EQ easily!!!

I tried EQ, UO, and UO:TD...By far the UO and UO:TD are far better. Easier manuverability mainly. I can't stand using the keypad. Gimmie a mouse anytime!! And yes, the graphics as of now, April 2001, are not perfect. But everyday there are new patches and it gets better and better. If you think it looks bad now, you should have seen in 4 months ago. It looks 90% better. And if you have SmartMouse, you can zoom in on the creatures to see them close up. Fairies and unicorns look the best with this tool. Word of warning as well...if you don't have a high speed hook-up, it does lag considerably...So bad, a friend was being beaten by a headless one, logged off, logged onto UO itself and was able to beat it still. All in all, I do enjoy this game.
An utter disapointment

As a longtime player of Ultima Online, I am really really disapointed by Third Dawn.
The graphics are superb and to play UO in 3D after years of playing in 2D was fresh. And that's about the only thing good about the game.
I tried walking around and the whole thing was jerky and slow. Bad enough I already lag badly playing UO but add that to the screen jerkiness and you can see my disapointment. Add that to the number of times the game crashed and you have a crap game.
I don't dare bring my character to the Third Dawn world to hunt because I am scared I will crash and die. A sad addon to an otherwise great game.
Wait a Year.

UOTD was released buggy with many problems left unaddressed. There's a HORRIBLE memory leak that locks up most systems after awhile, as a beta tester it would lock crash my computer so hard I had to reboot to recover. The product has potential but was dumped into the stores 4-6 months early. It will take them a year to fix all the problems they're introducting into the game TODAY.
Customer service is so bad that it's almost comical. Technical support consists of: "Go buy a new computer." They've ripped the heart and soul out of the Ultima mythos and replaced it with a cold and sterile 'localized' version that no one understands.
Give this one a miss.

Just bought this game after a few years of not playing. Three years ago I was absolutly addicted to Ultima Online and then I moved on and played Everquest for a while. I saw Ultima Online: Third Dawn in the store and thought I'd give it another try. This edition, I soon found, is slower and clunkier then the 2D version. After playing Everquest I don't suggest starting with this game. Ultima Online is a great game but like many classics it's time for glory has ended.
