It Sucks!

The controls are practically impossible! I couldn't get past the first level. This game is not for so-so gamers. Half the time I couldn't even see her because walls or other obstructions were between her and the camera, making it virtually impossible to steer her with the all ready extremely difficult controls! Why can't she respond like Spiro or Cloud?!?!

VERY disappointing...

As fairly avid gamers, I have to point out that this is only the second game we've refused to finish due to a rapidly-escalating frustration level. I enjoyed the original TR, skipped the middle two, and hoped to recapture the fun with TR4, but no luck. Play Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine instead -- a MUCH better game.

too hard for me

Not only was this game too hard, but it wasn't nearly as fun to play as I, II, and III. It is not worth any money, so buy a better game that you can beat in less than a year!

Beautiful graphics and awesome weapons! Overall good game :)

I do admit this tomb raider has the most beautiful graphics of them all. A wide range of weapons *such as the pistol and crossbow* make this adventure even more exciting. There are a few glitches *not as much in the prior ones*, but the overall effect is truely wonderful. You also get the chance to play Lara as a young teenager *in the intro level*. Great fun, must check it out!

Never Gets Old??

It sure does. Old, boring, hard to play and hard to control. This game is more fun than a sharp stick to the eye but not by much. And the price when it first came out! Sheesh! I'm betting that the only reason some people buy this is Lara's chest and that does'nt justify purchasing this accident of a game.

Another Sub-Standard EIDOS game

Well, I wish I could play some of these levels! Sometimes, that's made impossible because they're so dark. I wish it would save my game, too, but it never has. There are patches available for bigger mistakes on their site. I would give anything not to watch those grating cutscenes again and again. The voices are all quite annoying and stilted, though you get the sense the Eidos guys thought the old man at the beginning might have been - he gets tiresome immediately (my child this, my child that, this is how you jump -WAIT!- this is how you jump). Lara is still a bimbo character and it's insulting to both genders, a cynical view of the audience (I wish she would stop breathing heavily!). The controls are difficult. The puzzle elements are still worthwhile, though they are a poor man's Zelda. The 16 year-old Lara was unnecessary, when she gets her backpack we're supposed to care. The likelyhood of her and the old man being in these Cambodian ruins in the daytime and running through it like a preschool adventure playset is small. They seem to toss old TR elements like climbing vines and throwing levers in all the wrong places, these elements are repeated, and there seems to be little real joy in all of it, like they toss the elements out until the game ends. The level designs are unlogical, they detract from the realism that the games used to have and added so much to it. That's why you are bothered when you die from a giant spinning spike wheel that magically floats, not because it's hard, but because you just don't believe things like that are there, it's as though the game breaks it's own rules. I feel like the levels could all have gone a lot further if they just did some heavy internet research on the areas available to play (Egypt has stars and spikes?). Overall, I feel this game was well worth my [money], but the series needs to improve or it will surely die. Undoubtedly, the first Two TR games were the best, they need to return to that, these new games feel like a...commercial spectacle. What I enjoy most about the series is the realism that there can sometimes be, and the puzzles, but mostly the scenery and locales, the action is just the backdrop to me. Buy the first 2 games before thinking about getting this.

Love it but...

First I just have to say that I love this game. LOVE it. The plot is very interesting, I think it's probably the best one yet. My only complaint is that in most of the levels you need to get certain artifacts that you must have later in the game. It might be a little better if you can't exit the level without it, but you can so you'll never know that you need that artifact until you're frustrated with yourself three levels later unable to move forward in the game. So save often, look everywhere before proceeding, and if you don't trust yourself I would suggest getting a walkthrough. At least just to read over and make sure you got everything. Despite that, as I said it's my favorite of the Tomb Raider series. The quality is wonderful, her selection of weapons is great, and it's extremely addicting.

A Great Game

I'm new to the Tomb Raider series. I bought this game because everybody told me that they were good. I have only been playin it for a few weeks now, and it is one of the best games I've ever played. It's a great game for beginners like myself, 'cause the training mode teaches you all the moves.

Difficult but FUN!

Tomb Raider IV is a great game, although it's a bit too hard. Although the puzzles are difficult solving, it is fun solving them. For example: You will need to turn one wheel 2 times clockwise, the second one 1 time clockwise, and the 3rd one 1 time counter clockwise. Improved (excellent) graphics, cool moves, great game!
