Just played the demo for the past few days and I absolutely love it. If you are a fan of the rogue spear/ rainbow 6 series you have to get this game!
That's it, short and sweet.

Red Storm has achieved perfection...

Ghost Recon is what I always thought the Rainbow Six series should be like. A realistic tactical warfare simulation paired with incredible visuals and sounds. Like the Rainbow Six games, you are given command of an elite infantry unit and must complete various missions. The main difference of the two games was that unlike Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon does not have a pre-mission planing phase. You are briefed, you choose your operatives and equip them, then you enter the mission phase. You control up to three teams by use of an in-action command map, so you are finally given complete control of of your squad, and are free to change strategies at any time.
Another great feature of Ghost Recon is the artificial intelligence. The enemies respond realistically, running from grenades, taking cover, etc. One problem I noticed with the Rainbow Six series of games is that the enemies in those games were all ridiculously accurate. In Ghost Recon, this is usually not the case. If you're spotted, you will usually be able to drop to the ground and defend yourself. Your team members being controlled by the computer will also automatically take cover and are a great aid during the missions.
Your teams will consist of up to 6 of the following: Rifleman (Armed with M-16 assault rifles), Snipers, Support Specialsts (Armed with M249 machineguns), Demolitions Specialists (Armed with M4 assault rifles and various explosives), and Special Team Members (Which have a variety of special weapons and skills to aid your fight). Switching between different teams or different members of the teams is as simple as pushing a button.
I've touched on some of the major points of the game, but there are many great features I didn't mention. This game is incredible and any fan of the first person shooter genre shoot definately check it out. If you still aren't convinced then checkout the demo (...), then come back to Amazon and buy it.

I hope this review was helpful.

(On a sidenote, I'd just like to add that the weapon sounds are some of the most realistic sounds I've ever heard in a game. In addition, the death sequences and blood sprays are amazing.)

I generally don't like FPS games... But not this one!

I played the demo on easy, and found that the AI was actually intelligent. The controls were really good, the weapons were really good, and the graphics were pretty good.

I'm not an expert on FPS games, as I rarely play them, but I noticed for the most part, the enemy soldiers just didn't sit and die. In fact, while assaulting a house, one soldier went around the house and wasted my team member from behind. They did seem slow to fire though, and mostly stood (as opposed to going prone or squatting), but it was on easy... I'll get this game.

Rainbow Six steps down as the tactical shooter king

If you were a fan of the Rainbow Six games, Operation Flashpoint, or the Delta Force series, you are in for a real treat with Ghost Recon. Borrowing heavily from the mechanics of Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear, Ghost Recon moves combat into a long range, outdoor battlefield loaded with cover, concealment, and eye candy. The gameplay is thoughtful and intense at the same time; strategy and calm nerves will always see you to victory. The combat is all about out-maneuvering your opponents, stealth and steadily placed shots. If you are of the "run right at him and fire" school, you're going to need to learn some new tricks.
The atmosphere in the game is great, as close as it comes to the real thing. Every firefight you are engaged in feels like it is right out of a great war movie--tracers whizzing by your ears, rounds thumping into dirt and chipping off of stone, soldiers yelling "We've got wounded!" over the cracking of their M16 fire. Trees sway in the wind, bushes give a rustle if you bump into them, and NV goggles are a *must* at night. It really is fantastic.
Red Storm has again outdone themselves with this superb title. This is the infantry sim we've all been waiting for.

Review of Demo

Downloaded the demo and played for the last two nights. The AI of the enemies are great. Very unpredictable, they'll even follow you up onto the walls of the castle. The graphics and movements of the soldiers are top quality. Gameplay is probably on a par with Delta Force Landwarrior which I also own and play online. Definately more Action based than the other Clancy games which require planning and setting of waypoints.

Awesome tactical military sim

What a step up from other military games! The graphics and sounds are incredible, and the gameplay is seriously good fun. Although a slightly slower paced game than Rogue Spear and Rainbow Six, there is no shortage of tension and heart-stopping moments. In addition, there are several really nice little "touches" - like the trees swaying gently in the breeze, and leaves falling off the trees during firefights. If you are a fan of realistic tactical military simulations, they do not come any better than this one... A word of caution though: this game requires a decent computer, the faster the better!

This is the game of the year people. I have played the demo and the actual game it is beyond great. I am a game tester from Great NEck New York. From what i saw there is a few bugs. Minor but some. The sound quality is average but Pretty damb good. This game is loads better then Max Payne more realistic too (HAHA)I had so much fun going out think myself i was one of these special forces people and crackn' down the bad guy...blowin them to the floor. The graphics are superb as long as u got a 3d card. Im not gunna spoil any thing to u or else this review is pointless. Im just sayin plainly BUY THE DARN GAME IT IS SOOOO GOOD. For FPS lovers here u go the most realistic game u will ever see, also if u though Tom Clancy: Rogue Spear was good, LOOK AT THIS!!!!!

Well I've played the demo and let me say that so far this game looks very stable. The Graphics are great and the Team play is really intense. Can't wait for the full version to arrive. If you liked Operation FlashPoint. Then you'll love Ghost Recon. All the RainBow Six titles have always been stable lots of fun. With Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon I'm sure they've got a winner!!

Ghost Recon is an unbelievable game; graphics, artificial intelligence and action are all packed in this game. This game beat all time record for most demo downloads. With in one week, after demo was released, 200,000 people download the demo. This game has many new features and exceptional graphics engine. I have played this game and loved it a lot. While you play this game you will find powerful AI, which adds a lot of realism to it. This game is a lot of fun definitely you should buy it, you can't go wrong on that. Fun game, easy to play on the internet. This game has everything a gamer needs definitely a buy for me.

As close as you REALLY ever want to get to the real thing!

Have played all the simulators, and own everyone of the Rainbow 6 games. This is as close as you can get to the real thing with out powder burns, or learning first aid. We are currently using this as a training aid for CQB, and squad tactics...Much cheaper than the real thing, and easier on the knees. If you buy ANY first person shooter this year, this is the one to buy! Semper Fi!
