Combat Evolved. A subtitle like that just makes you jiggle with the anticipation of creaming nice, original characters, blowing up tanks, and killing every thing in your path. But, after playing this game, the only thing I wanted to kill (besides myself) was my computer, who would kill itself anyways if I let a hunk of digital revulsion like Halo soak into it. The characters in this game are uninspired ripoffs of characters such as the following: the characters from Unreal and its counterparts, those from Half-life 1 and 2, Deus Ex, Quake 1, 2, 3, and 4, and Doom 1-3. Among others are Dick Cheney,George Forman, Hannibal Lecter, and Scarface. Usually when I play a crappy game, I like to find and tease other games by the same software company. This one, however, just left me feeling empty, with an incredible urge to slit my wrists and bleed all over the Halo disk.
If you agree with me, follow me to Canada, because I'd sure hate to be a member of a country that's stupid rich and greedy and made this worthless broken heap of digital sacrelige!
And I hate Halo, if you haven't already gotten the picture, because it was made by a bunch of retards with nothing better to do than to make a game so a bunch of stupid dorks could buy the Halo books, clothing, condoms and enima machines. There was no creative inspiration, just a fat dork with giant glasses and a constant supply of acid and donuts at the ready, going over concept art from another more creative game. I hat this game, and you should too. Goodbye.

I expected great things from the best console FPS ever made, but the PC version sucks! I have a Pentium4 2.8c, 512 of dual channel ddr400, FX5600 ultra, and SATA WD HD. I can hardly get 20 frames per second in certain areas. I have to set everything on its lowest settings in 800x600 to have a solid frame rate. I think the xbox version looks cleaner than the pc version during these settings. Very disappointed in Microsoft, bungie, gearbox and who ever wants to put there name on this product because they had all the time in the world to make a solid pc version but failed. Do not buy this knowing that you can't return it unless you know it will run perfect on your system.
Not all that great

Halo for pc is not only outdated, but not very fun. There is no strategy at all involved, and its a very repeditive shooter. There is MASSIVE backtracking in most of the levels that makes you go through hallways youve already seen to flip a swich. Eventually it gets extremely boring when you are wandering through the same grey room filled with enemies for the 50th time. The game just isnt very fun. It was bad on the Xbox and now its bad on the PC. If you really want to play it for some reason wait untill it costs less than $15. Untill then just avoid it.

I have friends at work that have been talking about how great this game is for some time now (x-box version), so I have been eagerly awaiting it's arrival on PC. If the last first person shooter you played is the original Doom, then Halo will seem like a big improvement. All I can say is save your money and download the Unreal Tournament 2003 demo instead. In my opinion, every aspect of UT2003 is better than Halo (graphics, excitement, sound etc.). In addition, I am running this game on a fairly maxed out system with an AMD 2500+ overclocked to 3200+ stats and a Radeon 9700 Pro graphics card and the game chugs when there is too much action on the screen. This should not be the case on a game that is pretty much 2 years old.
One HALO of a good time.....

O.k., in a nutshell, this game is similar to 'Command and Conquer- Renegade' in many ways. The colors used and the shading used feels almost precisely like it was inspired by Renegade. Even the structures and the graphic 'smoothing' of the edges of most objects. Musically, it's just silly. The music sounds just plain cheap. While there are moments of suspense that the music truly delivers on, most of the time, it's not even worth listening to. As far as overall length, this game has got it. Absolutely huge game levels, and there are PLENTY of them. Surprising for a 1.4 gig game. It all fits on one cd before installation. I actually played this on a duron system with 1 gig PC 133 ram and a geforce 4 4800 video card, and it ran very well. I have heard complaints about a lagging mouse. I have that a little on my duron, but when i switched to my ALIENWARE system with the ATHLON XP the problem went away. I can only assume, for that, that maybe the processor speed is affecting the mouse. SPOILER ALERT *** SPOILER ALERT *** Quite a ways into the game the 'bad guys' turn into the 'not-so-bad guys' , yet you still have to slaughter them mindlessly. Then they become human-like and at that point you just feel sorry for thier deformed painful existance. I know it's just a game, but why must you continue killing those guys after you find out that all they were ever doing was defending themselves. Just a gripe on something i did not like in the game. Lastly, just after you discover their secret, you better have plenty of ammo and patience. The game, for a short time, becomes almost impossible. Extremely hard. Overall, while the game seems lacking for the first few hours of play,it does, much like Jedi Knight 2 did, pick up to a much more interesting pace and offer up some excelent environments later in the game. Look at the first few levels as training levels. Use them as that, you'll need them later. Trust me.
Awesome for Everyone!

I should start by saying while I have enjoyed first-person shooters since the days of the original Doom, I enjoy them only in what some might consider the most cowardly sense. As a rule, I will not play any FPS game without, at the very least, a God cheat code enabled - I like the games for the story, though I am generally not very good at them, hence the cheating. In that way, I can play the game without dying and get enjoyment from it that way.
So this game Halo comes along, and I don't have an XBox, so although I'd heard of it I'd never tried it. I decide to give it a shot and download the demo, which is pretty good. So I go out and buy the game - only to find out later, there are no cheat codes!! Too late now, it's already opened. So I try it out... and only 5 minutes into it, I'm completely hooked.
First of all, the graphics are amazing. I'm running the game on a Pentium 4 1.3 GHz, 256 MB RDRAM, and a GeForce 2 MX 400. I also have not changed a single game display setting, I've turned nothing on and nothing off. This game runs for me with no lagging; that's right, in over 20 hours of gameplay, I experienced not a single lag. Granted, the graphics aren't as breath-takingly beautiful as on a better graphics card, but my computer runs the game well, and to me that's all that matters. The sound is also amazing. It comes through clear, no fuzz or static, and it never fails to amuse; For instance, when shooting towards a group of enemies, some of the little grunts will start screaming in terror.
Gameplay is very fluid using the keyboard and mouse. The default key configuration can be a little sticky, as it has various keys such as reloading and weapon switching spread out across the keyboard, but it is very simple to assign these functions to new keys to make them easier for your individual needs.
I also found the regenerating shield function very unique and useful. Your character has a set amount of health, but he also wears a sort of environment suit that has it's own self-regenerating shield. When you are attacked by enemies, the shield takes damage, but after a short amount of time without being attacked (about 5 seconds), the shield recharges to full strength. Only once your shield is completely depleted does your health suffer from enemy attacks. I found this very useful considering my aforementioned aversion to FPS games without cheat codes - I am currently on the last level of the game, and have only died once.
While I have not tested it extensively, Halo also has a very diverse multiplayer game. There are many levels, ranging from small to immense in landscape scale, with caves to hide in and secrets to discover, not to mention the ability to play with some of the games cooler weapons and vehicles. While many people bemoan the existence of "TKers", or team killers - people who kill members on their own team, be it for fun or score advancement, I can say that I've never seen this myself, but again, I have not played much multiplayer, and when I do it is usually as an organized event with friends. I would not let this deter you from purchasing this game, though. That would be the only possible drawback I could see in an otherwise excellent game.
And a sidenote, for parents out there; Although this game is rated M for Mature, ages 17 and up, I believe that it is suitable for a mature younger child. Yes, there is violence in this game, but no blood. Also, the premise of the game is fairly unrealistic. If your child is mature enough to watch a PG-13 movie, I believe they are mature enough to play Halo. Parents should always be aware of the games their children are playing, and I also suggest that any parent who is considering allowing their under-17-year-old to play this game first try out the demo of it to see if they think it would be too intense for their child in their particular situation.
This game is worth every penny. Pick it up today, you won't be disappointed!!!

Halo is an excellent game! Unlike many other games, it has a story and, although the graphics aren't as great as those of other games, they still are very good and look great on a large display and with a relatively powerful GPU.

This is a great game. First off, if you think this game is to violent for your child, have no fear! You can change the personal settings to have neither blood or gor. For the people who don't care about that, this game is very very fun. Over 35 weapons, like 20 HUGE maps and great online fun for all skill levels. The only not so great thing is, that graphics aren't that great. If you have a good computer this shouldn't be a problem at all. On a scale from 1 to 10 this game would probably be a 9.7. I love it and i hope that you will enjoy it to.
