this game looks to be one of the best, sweetest games ever for PC. Its a must have for any star wars or RTS fan.

Great game, but lacks a certain something

Let me preface my review by stating that I am an enthusiastic Star Wars fan, and bought this game because of it. The gameplay is fun and interesting and the SW locals are great; however, when compared to AOE II (the game from which this is derived), there is a slight lack of cohesion and balance. It is harder to find unit combos that work seamlessly together, and there are too many top-heavy units (AT-AT and the rebellion tank, for example) which don't cost enough to make (it is VERY easy to build 15-20 AT-AT's and steamroller across a map). The flying units are a mere annoyance, lacking any real power when faced with anti-aircraft, and a sheild generators and towers make uber-strong defensive combos that take eons to remove, especially in the face of defensive siege weapon emplacements.

To summarize: This is a good game, but if you are playing someone who has a similar skill level, prepare to be playing a LONG time.

Great game

This game is the best. I downloaded a demo for it wich was totally cool. Then I bought it and I'm addicted to it. The levels are awsome And the Civs. are all very cool. The game has six Civs. Which are the following: Royal Naboo, Galactic Empire, Trade Federation (my favorate), Wookies, Gungans and the Rebel Alliance. Each have there own special abillites like Galactic Empire have AT-AT's which are awsome and other neat stuff. What's really cool is it's just like AOE wich is my FAVORATE game(besides this). I liked this game so much I bought Clone Campaigns The very NEXT day. I recomend this to everybody

wonderful

I am an avid RTS gamer, and of course I fell in love with Starcraft the first time I played it. But SC does have its faults, namely the biggest one being it was too limited. I always wanted to load up with 100 or so carriers and raid someone's base. But alas, unit limits keep you from doing such a thing. But then I discovered Battlegrounds, and was satisfied. It has an even more detailed tech tree then Starcraft, and of course the unit limits were more forgiving, so I was able to take 150 at-ats and raid bases at my whim. Of course, its challenging to keep your base going long enough to do this, so the difficulty I had at playing SC never really left either. Of course, you could sit around and complain that the graphics arent 3d, the story mode doesnt have Starcraft's excellent cutscenes, well, to that I say, hard cheese. If you like Starcraft, Star Wars games, or just strategy games in general, this is worth the cash.

Awesome Game Both Fun and Challenging For any Star Wars Fan

There is only one thing I have to say about Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds... amazing. As of right now the game is not released (until Nov. 12) but I have played the demo and it looks astounding. If your a star wars fan like me, i'm sure you will love this game. If you are even a fan of command and conquer or star craft games you will truly be happy will a purchase of this game title. I don't doubt for a second that this game, will be a great single and multiplayer experience from when you start and then finish. I don't know about you, but I already pre-ordered a copy of this game. You surely won't want to miss out on your chance to get this awesome title.

This game has to be the best Star Wars game. What I like about it is that there is so much stuff to do. You can even go on the internet to test team. I highly recommend this game to anyone interested in Star Wars.

All the previoous reviews talk simply about how the game looks, system requirements, game engines, and other esthetic thing that make a good game. No one talks about the gameplay, though. I have played the demo, and let me tell you, it plays pretty darn good. The sys requirements are low, and no special hardware is needed. Yes, it runs on the same engine as AOK, but it is more an improvement on AOK than a detriment to it. The demo is great and I believe the fullversion will be a must buy.

I got home last night and what was at my doorstep.....SWBG.....
This game is better than AOE2!
Land, sea, and AIR units.
And the civs are great....Wookie....come on....
What civ will be next E.T.'s.
I can't wait for SWBG 2..if they make it and i hope they do!

I was really looking forward to this game for months. Finally a Star Wars real time strategy game with the AOE engine. Boo Hoo-- I was disappointed with this game within minutes. It is too much like Age of Empires. The same old building up of unites and structures as well as gathering resources. VERY TEDIOUS. I think I would have been better off playing AOE II again. Get this - the graphics seem slightly worse than the two year old AOE II. If you want a real time strategy game in space stick with STARCRAFT.
