The game is a classic strategy game that makes you think. I found the game to be fun and challenging at first, however, after playing it for several months im not nearly as interested as i was before. I wish that there were more vehicles and units, like with the rebels. Why not have a-wings and b-wings too? it would at least make it more interesting. I think that the way the civiliztions were this time made it even better than Age of Empires II. IT would be an even better game with more civiliztions. I'd like to see the hapans, and others.
awesome

When i seen this game in the store i thought of command and conquer its not besides being a war strategy that where the simalaritys end. this game has every thing you've seen in the star war series and more thair a 6 factions wookies, naboo, gunguns, trade federation, rebels, and the empire each with thair own weaknesses and strengths. this game adopts the ages of the empire game engine. instead of collecting one resources you collect 4 differnt kinds ore, food, nova, and carbon and each one is needed and fast because you need it to create troops mech ect. for the number of troops on screen at one time this game has little or no slow down except for internet play and the graphics are great if your a fan of star wars or just a fan of ages or command this is a must buy i'll play for 4 hr. and not know that much time had passed so buy the game you won't regret it.
This game is awsome.

This game is awsome if you like strategy war games there are 6 diffrent teams to pick from and there all pretty good the only flaw is that there are that you have to gather 4 diffrent kinds of crystals and stuff but other than that its one of the best starwars games ever. P.S. if you like this you have to check out the computer game starcraft its even better then this one.

What happened to this game??? Galactic Battlegrounds is not worth the retail value. It has bad graphics, boring single player campaigns and missions, and is totally unrealistic. However, the game is not completely shot to hell. The only good thing I find about this game is the multiplayer. People make their own scenarios which are really fun to play and there are very few star wars nerds playing it also. The game isn't the best and could have certainly been made better.
THIS GAME ROCKS!

I purchased this game a long time ago. It is still very fun. Its like Age of Empires except with star wars. I love the campaigns and creating custom scenarios is even more fun. Its one of my favorite stategy games. You can play as the Gungans, the Empire, the Rebels, the Trade Federation, the Nubians or wookies. If your a star wars fan this game will be great fun for you!

This game is quite solid. It has a user friendly style but it lacks many things. Th AoE II style gameplay gets old quick. The new units will hod some people interested but light gamers will not be pleased for long. If you want to command a Star Wars army then give it a go. But if you are just shopping for a good RTS game this is not the best choice.

It's like starcraft in the gameplay, controlls are all the same, and tequniques you learned in star craft and warcraft apply here. You have to build and gather, however, an edition to this game that I really like is the ablility to build walls, something none of the blizzard games have. You have the choice of fighting as five different races in the single player campaigns (cannot play as royal naboo) and six in all other settings. Wonderful game, with good graphics, good sound and an even better replay value.
Disappointed with this game, I am.

This game is basically a clone of Age of Empire. Depending on how much you like AOE, you can stand on either side of the issue. Honestly, I didn't like AOE II, which is what I played before Galactic Battleground, so my feelings on the latter game will be equally harsh.
In case you were wondering, yes, I am a Star Wars fan, which was the main reason why I bought the game in the first place. Keep in mind that I also believe that I have not played a superior RSG since Starcraft, which in my opinion is far more fun and "smarter" then those two games mentioned.
Now that we got that out of the way, here's my 2 cents on the subject matter:
This game suffers the same problems as AOE, one is mediocre graphics. The lanscape and characters appear flat and visually uninspiring. Laser blasts from weapons look like color ribbons going across your screen. There's also a lack of cinematic scenes throughout the game, which is the same in AOE, all you ever get here is a replay of couple cinematic shots from the actual Star Wars movie in the beginning, and some story boards in between the missions to describe the mission scenarios. Kind of boring to me.
The AI is also unimpressive, which I thought also plagued the gameplay of AOE. Units have to be micromanaged, meaning they wouldn't know what to do by themselves if you didn't command them almost individually every waking second. Units are not "smart" so to speak. The ones in Starcraft could run away if they are attacked and too weak to retaliate. Units there also operate strategically once you command them to, which is not the case in Galactic Battlegrounds. And what is up with most ground units not being able to shoot at the air units? That's just plain annoying. You have laser pistols and rifles, not rocks!
Overall I was not very moved by this game. If you love AOE, then you might love Galactic Battlegrounds, but be advised that you might end up just playing AOE but with Star Wars units and a different storyline. I really don't think Lucas put too much creative input into the development of this game, other than to just give the entire project to the AOE team, who basically made a AOE clone out of it. I guess I was looking for more action and less time spent building an elaborate civilization. I'm hoping for better offerings in the future. These guys can learn a lot from Blizzard, the developer of Starcraft.
