This game is totally great. Ignore the comment by the guy who says this is a GTA ripoff, this, game has its own identity, and this game blows GTA out of the water. Seriously, this game looks like LA, and the freeways, beaches, sidestreets, alleys, are all exploreable. I've been gaming since I had a colecovision in 1982. And, I rarely buy games, because there is so many bad ones. Hands down, this is one of the greatest games ever made for a video game system.

i played a lot of games in my life from nintendo to the newest systems but nothing of all the games i played compares to this one unlike gta here you are a undercover cop who can be crusing around or do is job in this game you can pull off some matrix moves all slow and stuff it's cool but remember no nice cop will shoot a grannie

I bought the game yesterday after hearig glowing reviews about it. I must admit I didn't think that the game would be as excellent as it is, I mean the stories are intresting the gameplay action driving all together makes the game so enjoyable. I highly reccomend that you buy the game if you like great driving and action games . You'll love True Crime streets of LA

Better than GTA Vice City

This game has 3 different modes besides walking around. They are driving, fighting, and shooting. All modes are very well done, but the camera view in shooting mode can be annoyingly difficult to see the direction you want to sometimes. On the gamecube (which is my experience with this game), the controls can become confusing because there are just too many functions, especially because there are 3 modes. And by the way, you can switch the mode at will by pressing a button.

The game area is absolutely HUGE; it takes a long time to drive across the city even in a fast car on the freeway. Yes, all the roads are real and they're all named. And the name of the road you're on is at the top of your screen, while the name of a cross street pops up as you're about to cross it.

Your character, Nick, says a bunch of great one-liners as he performs actions. The missions are more linear than GTA, but there are several alternate paths. And within a mission, when you're on the streets (more than half of the missions), you can wander around for as long as you want and resolve street crimes, or even randomly search pedestrians and find illegal drugs or weapons. Doing these things changes your rating of Good Cop / Bad Cop (depending on how you do them), and gives you points which can be spent for upgrades.
The upgrades come in 3 categories:
1) Weapons: You can get more abilities with your guns and get bigger guns.
2) Driving: You can earn more abilities of what you can do with a car, and sometimes you can do a race to earn yourself a new car (though you can drive any car when you want, but your cars are unique).
3) Martial Arts: You can earn new moves to use in a fight, making your fighting much more effective.

This game has a few minor annoyances (like the camera as described above), but overall it is very fun to play and I would recommend it.

t is a great buy the graphics rock it's a bit more on the adult side due too alot of bad crap but who cares roaming L.A. is awsome and fighting crime and going on rampages is sweet and to all you people who think grand theft auto is better than this YOUR WRONG! grand theft auto 1, 2, 3, and vice city suck!.

For all of you game cube people that love Grand Theft Auto,this is the next best thing! It is a high class fighting game/killing game. With probly the best karate fighting there is on any game around. You can also pick characters all the way from Snoop Dog to a scrub on the streets! It is a halarious game. Your a cop,that has a very bad history. You father has disapeared becuase he was fingered, so your a cop out looking for revenge on the streets of L.A. You get awsome vehicals and all you need to do to get some action is shoot some people on the street,whip out some karate,or do some matrix,this is a high class game that is about as fun as you can get!

who ever said this game sucks is so stupid this rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It actualy takes 4 days and 13 hours to beat the game if ur an expert 14 days and 21 hours to beat the game if ur a beginner over all the driving is good some levels there is time you can also get to play as snoop dog {not joking true} go to www.cheatcodes.com and see the cool cheats. In shooting mode try to target and not just shoot anywhere and pray you kill him. There is this part where u verse Captain Nee or somtin it is realy good don take my word for it if u don believe me check out www.truecrimla.com if u don believe me this website will give u all u need to know about the game buy it if u like shooting GTA and driving crushing blowing up stuff. believe me it is very cool and awsome!!!!!!!!!!! This game is so cool I'm hooked to it. I love sealing imports. The fighting is awsome,the gun fighting is awsome,and the driving is crazy. Some of the parts are funny. I think Grand Theft Auto players should give this a try.

True Crime is by far the worst Grand Theft Auto Copy. The bosses are ridiculasly hard. And the loading on the nitendo gamecube takes for ever, it would be understandable if it was for ps2, but for gamecube,.....its a mystery. This game has a terrible story and a terrible gameplay.

The graphics are pretty cool for gamecube, but that still doesn't make up for the terribleness this game brings. I'll give activision credit for in the beggining I was addicted, but as the game kept going on I realized, this game sucks.

Do not think of buying it. I would have gave this one star, but I like the graphics, and an extra star because some of it is fun being a cop and arresting people. Seriously, do not play this. If you are thinking of buying this don't waste your money. Do what I do and rent games before you buy them. But your just wasting time.
