I have played it and...

About four weeks ago I wrote a review of this game and said how it looks great and that I hadn't played it yet. Now I own it and able to tell you how it came out and rate it. First of all it yes is a Grand Theft Auto KILLER! they where right about saying that. You can absolutely do anything and have alot more fun. The graphics are not as colorful but it is 240 miles of roaming space and it is really that much. I mean to go through every street it would take forever. Here is my review and how I see what is better and worse than GTA 3,and VC.

Graphics 9/10 the game has 240 miles of roaming space and being able to make the graphics look just as good outside as good inside is great. Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City are more colorful but they have a trailing shade look behind them. I would give GTA 3 and VC a 8.7/10 for graphics.

Sound is a easy 10/10 The soundtrack is amazing and awsome how you can use it. There is no radio button but your able to play any song you want by a selection just like Tony Hawk series.
The guns are a loud load of fun to here and the car engines are diffrent for each car and same with weapons.

Control 9.4/10 There not bad and there not great there just like Splinter Cells controls. The way this game beats Grand Theft Auto series is in the aiming. You can select what you want to shoot at and not only one but two targets.

Gameplay 10/10 You can choose to arrest people or kill people.
Firing a warning shot or show your badge is how to put people down and arrest them. You get a huge selection of cars from
many of your known brand companys. Just to name a couple Dodge Dakota, Chevy Trailblazer, Ford Mustang, Ford 69 GT, Dodge Viper, Porshe, Dodge Neon, Bus, Ice cream Truck, Street Bike, Taxi, and Cop car.

Shooting 9/10 Just as good as GTA 3, VC but better aiming and more options to shoot.

Fighting 8/10 It can sometimes be hard and long and learning the tricks and finishers might take awhile. Adding wrestling moves is a smart move also. If you want me to put it straight the fighting is like Dead To Rights.

Driving 9.7/10 Oh yeah it is definetly a high point of the game.
You can easily take control of any car and how it drives with a control setup similar to the new Need For Speed Undergrounds.

Running speed frame rates per second 7/10 It has wierd glitches sometimes and some wierd slowdowns but it rarely happens unless you get alot of action going and have a vehicle running. I have had no slow downs on fighting but have had to turn it of because of loading and it making a glitch out of it. Timesplitters 2 runs at a beautiful 60 frame rates per sencond and I would estimate True Crime Streets of LA at about 40 FRPS not bad for a 240 mile city and more live people than GTA 3 or VC.

I would give True Crime Streets Of LA a 9.7 out of 10 in all and would easily say its better than Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City. Rockstar im sorry someone has finally stole your fame and fortune and looks like they could do it again. Have fun and I would highly reccomend this game.

The reviewer before me is not telling the facts.

I would just like to set the record straight. The reviewer before me plagued this game with uninspiried comments that completely contradict what he said. He reccomended grand theft auto.

Let me break it down for you.
Shooting is NOT boring. You upgrade your guns, you get 2, you can use different combinations(like a shotgun and a rifle at the same time or an uzi and a pistol). You can precision aim and take out guys in one shot or neutralize them. GTA involves holding r2 and hitting O every time.

Fighting involves tons of different combos. THere are plenty of grapples and special moves that make it fun. On the plus side you can knock your enemies into tons of things making the areas more interactive. GTA involves you hitting O over and over.

Driving is fun. You can shoot out tires and slow down time(you can also slow down shooting on foot) but the best thing is that the area is huge with no loading times once your out there. The driving lets you do tons of things and upgrade your driving to give you new abilities. GTA involves holding X. O, and both games have radios. This game lets you turn off music you don't want to listen to.

I could go for hours about this game. Seeing reviews like the one before this infuriate me. I can't stand it when people don't even play a game and want to review it. This game has hours of fun. 3 hours? If you play through the campaign without doing anything. I've cruised around solving crimes and upgrading my weapons for a few weeks. Talk about replay value...
I do hope people will sincerely consider this game instead of badmouthing it for having some lock ups(extremely rare) or blocky trees(which is completely untrue). If you think the trees are blocky in this than check out GTA because they certainly are not.

if you think this game is boring

You can arrest the suckers or kill them its up to you but if you kill them your estadisics will be bad.You can go to dojos and learn karate...etc...

This is an awesome game for the Nintendo system. The game is better than GTA in many ways but is lacking in others. Ther is not a wide variety of weapons but it's easy to shoot. The driving is awesome and the freeway is fun. Although, I was disappointed that their were no motorcycles in the game. I think the flying in GTA is too overwhelming. The cool thing is that you are a cop so you can do almost anything you want. The slo-mo is awesome.

Whats great about True Crime Streets of L.A

I recently bought this game True Crimes streets of L.A . The game has every detail of the streets in it. The size of the map in the game is atleast 3 times bigger than vice city and twice as big as GTAIII. I am a fan of GTA games i would say this is like GTA 4 with bigger sizemap since its a real life map of L.A this is a unique game and another big step for realistic games. MISSIONS: As you may know already most of the games are made of levels that you must pass and some times you get frustrated that you give up.In True Crime streets of L.A you may skip the mission ones you have tried it but if you are that kind of person that must pass it you can.You can also forget the missions and go straight to the rampage that most teens(like me) love the games for WHILE your in the middle of missions. You can turn into a bad cop or be a good cop by arresting bank robbers, streets racers, you can stop riots, kidnappers, carjackers, arrest inmates that have escape, get in high speed chases, theres stand of,drug dealers, you can stop Illegal Chicken fights, well all that you can imagine in a city. WEAPONS:the weapons are great. There are cheap ones and great ones from beer bottles, knives, normal guns and then you can get shot guns, assault rifles , uzi , granade launghers and alot more. FIGHTING: the fightin is really awesome there is ,kick boxing, normal boxing, karate, and all those marcial arts stuff you can use. WEAPON AIM: this is the best aim ive seen in games. while you are drivin you can hold R1 and fire at enemy vehicles or criminals even just people you dont like in slow motion. its like the MATRIX when you shot in the car it slows down and so does when you are taking cover from enemies you dive and it goes in slow motion and shot at them. DRIVING: there is nothing to stop you going through the whole map of L.A as in GTA you must pass the missions to get through other places. Theres more active people you can ran over or shot than GTA3 and VC. You can drive easily the cars you get BMWs, Hummer lookin SUVS, lanberghinis ( the new ones not the old ones as in vice city) the actual LAPD lookin cop cars, your own undercover cop car, limos, ford crown victoria cars... mercedes bens, cadillac, and way much more you can imagine.. even those old volgswagen vans that the hipi people used in the 60's. The game has alot of humor also... I dont see so many sexual content as in GTA where you could of take the hookers and do your business. i would recommended for YOU and people who love GTA games you must try this one!!

True Crime: Streets of LA was my first experience with the free-roaming genre of games that Grand Theft Auto made famous. I've never played any of the GTA games so I can't compare them with True Crime, but on its own merits I had a lot of fun with this game.

You are Nick Kang, an Asian-American cop working on a case involving money laundering between various mafia groups in LA. Somehow, all this ties in to the death of your father years earlier. As Nick, you'll be sent on a variety of missions all over LA. You'll have straight shoot-outs, hand-to-hand combat, car chases, and stealth missions. In-between you'll get some free time where you can drive around solving random street crimes in GTA fashion.

I give the developers credit for mapping out all of Los Angeles and letting you drive around without any loading between city sections. It's a huge environment, and it's an amazing programming feat. I also like True Crime's story structure: depending on if you solve or fail the current mission, you get alternate cinematics and branching storylines that lead to different endings. It's very immersive and engaging, plus you can go back any time and try for a better outcome. There are tons of upgrades to collect including faster cars, stronger guns and deadlier combat moves. Finally, the voice cast rocks. The script is a pretty cliche mix of various cop movies, but the voice-acting is top-notch (including Christopher Walken, Michael Madsen and Michelle Rodriguez).

The game has some problems. The driving and shooting mechanics are pretty solid, except the zooming function isn't as precise as it should be. The stealth missions are a joke, and are more about running up and hitting a guy before they see you rather than genuine sneaking. Hand-to-hand combat can get frustrating when even after all the upgrades, it still boils down to random button-mashing. And the storyline takes an odd supernatural twist towards the end, which really kills the gritty "True Crime" atmosphere the game is trying to deliver.

Despite the flaws, I'm hooked. Maybe the GTA originals are stronger games overall, but I love being able to drive anywhere and do anything with Nick Kang. Some have criticzed the graphics engine for not cranking out enough cars on the freeway, different NPC characters on the streets, or making LA more interactive. They're valid complaints, but at the same time I think we've come up against the current-generation's graphical limits. Hopefully the PS3 and Xbox 360 will fix the lingering imperfections.

Highly recommended if you've never played a GTA-style game, and worth checking out for everyone who has.

Something a bit more adult is released by nintendo. I know it's a shame our society places much of the blame for violent children on the back of the video game industry. But with the exception of a few idiots, most would consider a good game kind of like a vacation in an alternate reality, where the options are nearly unlimited. TC is this type of game, the closest thing to a GameCube GTA, but from the completely opposite perspective. Instead of being a hired hit-man, you're a cop! Still fun regardless.

This is a great game...Especially if you are a fan of the grand theft auto series... Although being very different from the grand theft auto series this is better... You can use combos moves in fights (unlike the GTAS fights where everything is random)... There are cool cars (most of them look are look alike licensed cars)... I rated this game 5 out of 5 BUY IT and no im not hatin' on Grand theft auto (its a good game to)... and the streets are exactly like the streets in LA...
