True Crime is dubbed as being the next GTA III. That's a pretty big bet, considering how good of a game and how sought after Grand Theft Auto III was a couple of years back. However, I believe that True Crime may be able to live up to what it says it can. First off, True Crime Streets of L.A. is being developed by Activision, a videogaming heavyweighr. Activision has the potential to make this game a hit. I just question how willing they are to make it good. So far, it looks to me like they are doing a fine job. At E3, the booth for True Crime was a hotspot for gamers, and the game was very impressive for all who saw it. The graphics were better than the GTA games, probably at least on par with the great graphics in The Getaway. True Crime featured 240 square miles of re-created L.A. territory, and the city looked great. The game just had the atmosphere of L.A. There was Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and even ghetto paradise within the game. There were hot rides in hot areas of the city, and old Buicks in the not-so-nice parts as well. (I prefer the ghetto life!) The people were good too. There were gangstas, ho's, businessman, snobs, everything that you would actually see in real-life L.A. Landmarks were recognizable, from the skyscrapers to the Mann's Chinese Theater. The sound was just flatout AWESOME as well. Cars were realistic, pedestrians chatted, music pumped in the background. And as a bonus, there will be over 50 beats from real life west coast rappers like Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. I am psyched about that!! I am a huge rap fan! The sound to me seems just as good or possibly better than the awesome sound effects in GTA Vice City. You play as a cop, Nick Kang, who can either be good cop, or bad cop, whichever road you wish to put him on in the game. And the game will tilt that way too. Be a baddie, and you'll be swarmed by vigilantes and even your fellow police. Be a good guy, and the game may be a little easier or a little harder, depending on your view. So far, True Crime looks awesome. It could give the GTA series a run for its money. Roll out the red carpet this fall. Here come True Crime Streets of L.A.!

When people heard about true crime they put it down, mainly because they thought it was another company besides rockstar making an vice city clone. Hell NO! This game to me isn't anything near a gta clone. i would tell you if ur expecting a gta style from thid game,but if ur not expecting a gta style get your a$$ out to ur video game store and buy this kick a$$ game

Not GTA but just as good

I've played this game on a demo on the ps2. It is extremely fun and it has many elements that make it worth buying in the future. Unlike GTA it has advanced hand to hand combat in which you can perform combos to take out your enemy. The gun play is truly awesome also. You can do "bullet-time" in any direction as much as you like unlike Max Payne in which you were restricted to only using it when you were able to. Also the driving is not like GTA at all. It actually is life like. The car turns and peels out just like a real life situation. The graphics are outstanding and can be compared to GTA: Vice City. You can't roam around as much as you like which can be a downside for those who excelled in the shooting of pedestrians and going on killing sprees and doing hit and runs in Vice City. All in all i feel this is a great game, and will serve you hours of fun, will soon be an awesome hit!

Ok, first off, let me say one thing. I am sick and tired of people comparing this game to GTA Vice City. People saying things like "this is not as good as Vice City, so it is horrible and I don't like it." This game is not Vice City. There are NO games out there as good as Vice City. The only game that will ever be as good or better than Vice City is the next GTA. If you are looking for a fun game that gets you hooked, buy this. The cars are awesome and graphics are great. Missions are very fun and the main character is awesome. There is a huge map of LA, so it is kind of hard to get to know your way around, but I do not really mind that. This game is awesome. I play it all the time. Please take my advice and dont listen to these idiots criticizing this game. If they want to compare everything to Vice City, then they can just play that for the rest of thier lives. This is a great game to hold you over until the next GTA comes out. Take a chance with this one!

I went out and rented True Crime, I started playing at 6:30 and stop at midnight! In the game you play as nick cang, an L.A. cop and you go thourgh a seris of levels and opitional street crimes. Once you beat,aresset or kill a crimal you can take there guns. On the why you do things you get the title of good cop,bad cop or great cop. this is the best action/adventure game I've palyed,EVER!

When I saw this game, I thought it was a GTA type game. But when I bought it, I found out it wasn't. It's totally different. People are asking, "how is fighting a dragon 'True Crime'" well I'll tell you. If those losers bothered to play ahead, the would realize that he was dreaming. People these days!

Lets compare:

GTA:
-You can only chase people down in cars, barely any foot chases
-No slo-mo stuff
-When you get on a Vigilante mission you are the only one chasing the car

-No grappling, only punching and kicking.
-No Civil Unrest
-No weakness points on cars, only flat tires

True Crime:
-Cars chases, and foot pursuit
-Slo-mo
-Sometimes you can join a pursuit where there is already a pursuiing car
-Great fighting engine, with neat grapples and realistic moves.
-True Civil Unrest meter, so people will come after you when it reaches a certain point, whereas in GTA, you have to put in a code to have groups of people after you.
-Tire popping, gasoline tank weakness (hint, hint, explosion)

These facts and more prove that True Crime is true to the punch. Mind you I am a fan of both franchises, so I am not bashing GTA, I am just stating the facts. The GTA games are longer, but to advance to the next missions, you need to beat every single one, but with True Crime you never need to repeat a mission if you don't want to.

True Crime is the True Game of the year.

its way better than gta vice city and beats out the game gta 3 by far and you can slomotion dive and shoot two m16s together 1 in each hand its so dang cool its so cool I want to curse but this is a kids web site and I dont want to have them see cursing on this web site. get this game and play it alot you can also steal sweet cars and drive totaly insane when you shoot a car it has a hole where you shot it and if you shoot it alot then all the glass will break. this is the best game I have ever owned and I just cant say enough about this great game!

This game is just as good if not better that GTA. It has better graphics, better fights, and better driving action. Yeah, the soundtrack doesn't have your favorite tunes from the 80s but that would not fit with the LA backdrop. Just play the damn game and you'll see.

this game is way cool, but you are all right, it is way too easy. still it is very cool and the fighting and the fact that you can just go around to random people and search them for drugs is a cool and original idea. plus i love how almost everything breaks when you run into it (ie. walls, fences, etc...) overall, this game gets my approval and it is on the top of my list for best games.way to go activision!!!!!

This game is a good challenging game.The graphics are great, the gameplay is good and i think it nis nice to earn upgrades and stuff although i think it need more upgrades to earn.
