The gameplay is great, the fighting and shooting modes are a lot of fun but the game is really weak in the length department. The game took me less then 8 hours to complete which I think is a rip off for $50. Vice City took me over a week to complete (full with all side missions). Although I loved the driving and actions modes the missions are way too easy (if it takes you more than 3 tries to complete a mission it would really suprises me) and the story is way to short, I would not under any circumstance recommend buying this, save it for RENTAL.
this game is the bomb diggity!!

this game is way cool, but you are all right, it is way too easy. still it is very cool and the fighting and the fact that you can just go around to random people and search them for drugs is a cool and original idea. plus i love how almost everything breaks when you run into it (ie. walls, fences, etc...) overall, this game gets my approval and it is on the top of my list for best games.way to go activision!!!!!
Rent, don't buy

I beat this game in 5 days. Every upgrade and every ending. I played it about 2-3 hours a night. Therefore, you may wanna rent it instead of shelling out the $50. I must say the movie sequences, voice acting, and animations were some of the best I've ever seen. Christopher Walken provides some great comic relief as does the main charachter with his cheesy one-liners (they do tend to get repititous though). Even though it was a cheesy cop movie story line, I still found it to be entertaining. The game also gets points for the branching story line and good cop/bad cop paths it allows you to take. That is about all the good. The bad: graphics are nothing special, the soundtrack is annoying (unless you are a big gangsta rap fan) and alludes itself to being cutomizable even though it is not, little-no camera control (very annoying in certain missions.also ended up behind "walls" at times and twice I fell through the floor because of a glitch), you can upgrade your gun/car/fighting though none of it really seems to improve your chances of succeeding, the aiming ability on the gun basically sucks (impossible to use realiably in most battles). In all I was not very impressed at the gameplay within this title and have to strongly recommend renting or borrowing only. The feel I got here is that the company pumped out a title and stuck some big actor names on it to compete with Rockstar and the GTA series. I know that's been said a lot, but sometimes the truth hurts. Make better games and then I'll write better reviews. P.S. Parents, make sure you realize that this game has an M rating before buying it. I know a lot of parents are going to complain that little johnny/susey got their hands on this "offensive" title and then they're gonna raise a stink and try and sue the game maker or something. Don't be one of those parents! Pratice a little control and review the ratings of your kids games.

This game is not really worth it. It is a good game untill you beat it in a week or two. because once you beat it there is nothing else to do exept play it again. its got ok grafix. but this game in some places is VERY HARD some part took a few days for me to figure out or beat. for example, in one part of the game you have to kill this "WALKING ZOMBIE" thats got like a full body cast on, or some thing like it, but any ways, no matter how many times you hit him it dosent do any damage. well when you finnally figure out that you have to throw hime into the stoves and then throw him about 8 more times into the stove then you beat him but that takes for ever. and the plot is really stupid and very unrelistic, but if 2 weeks of gaming is worth the $$$ then whatever

I'm not gone diss the game, I'm just gone state the facts. The graphics are realistic and LA is mapped out real good. But that don't make up for the story line. It's too empty, you won't know whats goin on, and ait gone care. The fight system aint nothin like Dead to Rights, cause all you do is mash the buttons endlessly, it don't take skill or strategy. Drivin is a pain in the ass, nothin like Grand Theft Auto. The shootin is best part, but sad too. You only get two guns that you gotta upgrade, and you gotta shoot sparingly cause if you dont you get a Bad Cop rating and wont beat the game. On top of that It only takes a weekend to beat it. And for fifty bucks you want a lot more than two days of play. The soundtrack is rap music, and thats a plus cause I love rap. I think where they messed most is the fact that the main character is a cop in the first place. It aint like Vice City where you drive around kill people for fun and run from police all day it's nothin like that. To me the city is extra big for nothin cause it's no reason to explore it. Once you play it for a while the game just aint fun, cause the whole time you playin you expectin the game to be somethin it's not, and never gone be.
PS. I tried not to diss it was too hard not to.

I was really looking forward to playing this game after all the hype that there has been. I decided that I would rent the game before I bought it so that i wouldnt feel ripped off if the game sucked. I am very glad that I chose to do so. This game has no excitement value to it. here are the things that make the game horrible:
1)the story within the game has no excitement what so ever. after 2 or three hours of playing it, I didnt feel any reason to keep playing. as a matter of fact I have no idea what is going on in the story at this point.
2)There is far to much loading. after every "mission" the game needs to load, which takes about a minute each time, which completely destroys the flow of the game.
3)Personally I think the controls suck, it is very hard to get used to and the camera angles seem to go off on there own at times. Its very frustrating.
4)Driving is verey sluggesh. after playing a game like GTA you expect something a little more. the variety of vehicles is poor and they all sound the same.
5)Gameplay is entirely to simple. the game does not require you to beat the missions to continue the story.
I do not recomend True Crime to anybody, if ou are interested in it, make sure you rent it first. I almost didnt, and would have been out $50 if I didnt.
Shameless

I like this game but I have to be honest, most of the time while I'm playing this game I can just picture the creators sitting around one night playing GTA 3 or Vice City, then suddenly one of them says "This game would be better if..." That's basically what True Crime is. It's Vice City with a few adjustments. They have no problems shamelessly palagrizing the game right down to the map on the lower left side of the screen. Well what changes have they made? Well the leading man is a cop...but he can also be a bad cop(ya know to still appeal to the GTA lovers who spent months shooting up pigs). And they improved the Graphics, gave us a bigger and real city (Los Angeles). You can also choose not to finish a mission and you can fight(Kung Fu). I'm not hating on the game, it's still a pretty good game play and explore, fighting crime is fun, the missions are okay, but face it it's no Vice City.
Also if they are going to palagrise GTA the least they can do is go all the way and put in a different soundtrack with different genre of music to listen to. I hate Rap and hip hop!! And I try to avoid it at all cost so having it shoved down my throat in this game really sucked and kinda ruined the enjoyment for me personally. I was gonna give it 3 stars until I remember how annoyed I was by the soundtrack so I'm bringing it down to two stars or maybe two and a half stars.... I REALLY hate rap music so no I'll keep it at two stars.
PS- I hope the creators of this game gave some kinda of credit to Rock Star.
Not as good as GTA:Vice City
