Come On People......It's Not THAT Good!

This game was hyped to the max by Maxis. It was going to be spectacular! True 3D down to the smallest detail. None of this came to pass. So, what is so great?

You can see the backs of buildings? HA! The backs of buildings? Big deal!

The disasters are better...not! Unless used in this way...if you're lucky enough to get a decent small city built (it's not easy) you'll be ticked off because now you're going broke, so you will enjoy destroying your city out of frustration before you go bankrupt.

Now nuclear power plants won't blow up...who cares since your stupid sims keep pestering you for a nuclear free zone.

One Word: Awesome

This is the kind of game that makes you want to keep playing for the rest of your life. You start out with the basics, a few zones, a power plant, and eventually some development. There really are infinite choices to build a city with. It is just so dang addictive! This game will consume your soul! Mwa,ha,ha,ha.
Okay just kidding. Well, anyway if you like city building pick this game up, you'll thank me.

One of the best in the series

This is a great game, it really is. It's better than Sim City 4 in my opinion, and it can run on a computer from 1995, I know from experience. This game promotes creativity, strategy, decision making and thinking. It is a video game, but it's a video game that's good to play. Afterwards you don't feel like you wasted your time you feel like you used your time constructively. I was inspired to run for mayor of my city! LOL.

This game is evergreen, if you do get bored of it you can just take a break and then come back and start a new city and it's instantly entertaining again. Every once in a while the game throws you something unexpected, ie there's a disaster like a tornado which may or may not induce a lot of damage depending on where it strikes, which makes it exciting. You can ajust the speed so that if you get impatient waiting for the next monthly check you can zoom ahead, although I do not suggest this because if you don't tend to your city lots of things can go wrong. You do have to work, you can't just zone the land and then expect sims to move in, you have to build roads, and put in a water pump and connect pipes to it, etc. But all the hard work pays off when you city becomes inhabited. You can make your own land with map creator, I find this feature to be very nice because you can make the land however you like it, with lots of mountains and trees to a flat desert, land as far as the eye can see or so small you can hardly build a village, the sky's the limit. This opened up a whole new excitement for me. I even tried to replicate the city I was living in.

The graphics aren't the best, but they're good enough. I feel the game play is realistic, i.e. if you decrease police funding, they might not do their job as well, so crime will go up and property value will go down. The music is cheesy so I opt to have it turned off.
You should definitely buy this game. If it doesn't appeal to you at least get it for someone you know who it would.

Not Well Supported

While the game itself is quite good. I enjoy playing my copy of the game, and still find new interest and challenges of running cities. The replay value should be obvious as there is no "end goal" to meet, though there are "rewards" along the way. There are several problems, however, particularly when compared to Sim City 2000. First, there are no scenarios. That is a pity because the scenarios often enhanced the value of the game. Second, you cannot for your own landform in the New City mode before you start the game (again, unlike SC2000). Both of these problems were later corrected for the later cousin of the game: Sim City 3000 Unlimited. Additionally, the online support is much better for Unlimited. The building downloads on the official website are minimal, and the building design tool is not supported by the basic game. Still, I will have to admit that 3000 is still a vast improvement over the previous version. The buildings are better designed, and they really do look different on different sides. Also, the graphics are much better over 2000, while they are not vastly improved in Unlimited (which is essentially the same game, with the additions above AND additional buildings). I would recommend that you do buy Unlimited over this version simply because of the vast number of updates. And, with the release of Sim City 4, it is highly unlikely that even the Unlimited website will stay up much into the future, and it certainly will not be supported any more.

I just bought Sim City 3000 for my pc and I downlouded the game, started playing it and it was great! You build, you smash and destroy buildings. I've been waiting to get the first Sim City for my pc but I couldn't fined it. I heard of a Sim City 2000 and I couldn't fined it but Sim City 3000 was in front of my face. Now I've heard of the release of The Sims for the pc and I'm going to get it if I don't for Christmas. I don't really know how to play Sim City 3000 but I'm just playing fun with it. Buy it, you'll like it. I love Sim City 3000!

Great game

A great game that could be "excellent" if there where some things fix. It's hard to reach wealth finances, the simcitizens always complain about one thing or another, the factory areas must be not so far the residential area (to be easy to the simcitizens to get to work), but neither so close (to avoid pollution), the people never sleep...? because there is no night in the game, but still a great game, great detailled graphics, great sounds, lot of landmarks, you can see people walking, cars getting on and off the highways, it enables you to create the kind of city you liked to live in like "save the planet" city or i don't mind pollution city, it's up to you. Overall a wonderfull game to play.

Sim City 2010 would be a more appropriate title!

This game is an unbelievable disappointment. Sim City 3000 is basically Sim City 2000 with some graphics improvements and a few new features, which only slightly change the game play. If you haven't played Sim City 2K much, Sim City 3K might be worth purchasing. Otherwise, this game is a waste of money.

I'll admit right now that I hate all of the Simcities that came out, with the exception of the Super Nintendo version of the first Simcity. I'm more of an action person, not a sit-back-and-watch-my-city-grow person. Sure, Simcity 3000 is good for a while with it's catchy graphics and innovative approach to buidling a city, but a few hours later, you'll either want to fall asleep or put your fist through the monitor, depending upon whether the income for your city is positive or negative for each game year. I turned out to be one of the latter people. No matter how hard I tried, I could never get the income to come out positive. So, I did what any distraught and stuck person would do...go online for cheat codes! An hour later, I was bored. If you're a thinker, by all means try Simcity 3000 out. But, if you're a person that thinks actions speak louder than words, try Dungeon Keeper 2, a game like Simcity 3000, but not as complex (and more active!).

A GAME FOR PEOPLE WHO LIKE POWER!!!

Welcome to SimCity 3000. In this cool adventure, you must build proper facilities, public services, and everything to make a city thrive! Make deals with neighbor cities! Fight your garbage problems!!!

This is a cool game where you start from scratch(with $50,000 or less money) to make a huge city that has skyrocketing income and a perfect population.

I love SimCity. But the only problem is it freezes to much on my Microsoft ME, so I'd reccomend using a different type.
