This game is the king of stink

I would go into a long explanation of the various issues that this game suffers from, but needless to say, scores of others have coverd that ground already. Trust them. They were right. Save your money. This game is a 50 dollar sinkhole.

Not That Bad...

I bought this game based on the need for a new RPG, of which category I am hopelessly addicted. I didn't listen to the reviews simply because everyone's tastes are different. While I admit that whenever you have to have 4 patches you have a serious problem, that can be overcome. Simply install the patches, and you have a game with great graphics, and a high level of detail. Now that the price has come down, it's not a bad RPG at all. WHERE IN THE WORLD IS BARD'S TALE 4?

I can't stop playing

I don't know what these people who are being so negative are playing. I loved the original one (in EGA graphics), and I've been a fan of RPGs since Ultima I on the Apple IIe. I'm not easy to please in RPGs, but I give the game 5 stars because:

1. It's a lot of fun to play
2. There is so much to explore and conquer.
3. The graphics are awesome, the sound is too

I could write more and address some of the negative comments, but for ... the game speaks for itself! I bought it at the mall for ... You have to buy the guide, though, to keep yourself sane.

Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor Rocks!!!!!!

Wow! how do you compete with all the other reviews..I REALLY don't think that the game is that bad.. While I admit that it has some technical bugs to it..can only install on the C:\drive.. etc..(which is fixed) I think that they did a FANTASTIC job on making this considering that they had to switch right in the middle of making it from 2E to 3E.. I undestand that they came may be missing some of the classes, feats, and other things, but remember to switch and code the game for release in midstream would be damn near impossible, but they did it.. on to the excellent stuff.....

POR has got to be one of the most visually stunning games yet. I have played BG1/II, Icewind, Diablo, etc.. while all of those game are good graphics wise. I would have to say that they did 10x better with POR. the graphics are so 3D, where in the others it felt very linear..

I read that one person commented about walking everywhere. number 1- you are an adventurer, you don't get a car..
number 2- push the F1 key while your playing.... it will bring up the menu of options.. SO YOU CAN RUN! just read the book.. seriously the interface is fresh, not the same cookie cutter approach that all the other games use.

I would say that this is an EXCELLENT game and they have made an excellent start to making a really good series. If they keep at it and fix the little things that all the people are saying are wrong.. they can bring all these people back...

As for me, Lvl 3 party.. and still going strong

Regardless of Bugs --- This game ROCKS

I purchase POR: Ruins of Myth Drannor the day it came out and I've played it for several days. As with a lot of games, when they first come out, there are some bugs with it. I've experienced, from time to time, not being able to attack in combat after loading a saved game. Ubi Soft is currently working on 'patches' for this bug as well as others that have been reported. It can be frustrating when encountering these situations, but this game is GREAT. Buy it!!! I'm ignoring a lot of the negative comments spreading around about this game. If you want to read what some dedicated gamers have to say about it join in on the 'forum' section and read some of the posts out there.

Fun game but lots of bugs

This was a great game in theory, but the bugs made it hard to cope with sometimes in reality. Make sure you install the patches before you play! Quite satisfying in length, but maybe a little more variety in the landscape would be nice. Overall a good time.

Nothing too impressive

I agree with a lot of the things that have been said already. While the graphics on the backgrounds and the animations are very good, and the sounds are good as well, the graphics on the characters are somewhat lacking. Character creation is fairly limited and somewhat bad at points (the fact that when you choose an icon for your character, you only get two options, and they are basically the same exact thing, only slightly different colors, was disappointing at best). I think where this game really loses out, though, is gameplay. It's just not fun. It plays like a Windows program, and that's just not exciting. You cannot scroll the screen beyond where your characters are standing, making the view limited. You can't rotate the view, meaning that your characters are often standing in the way of something you are trying to look at. Basically, nothing about the game screams excitement. It's a ho-hum, not really worth buying until maybe it comes down in price kind of game.

Great game

This game is really fun. I have been playing it steady for about five days now. The experience is very similar to playing paper and dice D & D. Fighting is at the center of the game: and it is very fun. You must think to win a battle. There are bugs, including an install bug, which did not come up on my install, and a save corrupt bug, which did happen to me. I was able to correct the second bug by reading the forums on various websites for the game. Keep an eye on this game, and if a good patch comes out, it would be worth getting.

a decent game, but doesn't live up to the hype

well from what everyone else has written about their copies being buggy and some not even being able to install the game. i feel luck, i ran out and bought the game the day it was released. and i had no problems installing it or playing. not a single bug so far. but and this is the major problem i have with the game, it is way too boring, not anything like it was hyped up to be. the controls are somewhat sluggish, and i hate the menu interface. but still all in all a decent game

Don't buy it!

Thousands of user complaints about incompatibility with their systems, severely curtailed ability to customize the graphics and sound, reduced implementation of promised features, and little incentive to roleplay within the game are just a few reasons to avoid it.

This is probably the worst implementation I've ever seen. Go buy Baldur's Gate instead.
