FIVE STARS ARE INADEQUATE!

I have always been an avid (some people say obsessive) Egypt fan. My friend got this game and I borrowed it immediately. He hardly had a chance to play it. I'm hoping this new Cleopatra expansion will allow me to play without the old Pharaoh disk. Probably. This won't stop me from buying Pharaoh; I'll buy it for sentimental value! Awsome game!

Awesome Game!

This game is so awesome! Once I started playing, I couldn't stop! I love how the prologues are read aloud. I thought I loved Sim City, but this is a thousand times better!

Deep, Long-Term Playability

I purchased Pharaoh four months ago and I am still playing (at "Normal" difficulty level), having reached the rank of Pharaoh (perhaps I am close to finishing?). Historically accurate, visually precise and colorful, well-designed (no glitches or crashes), and great long-term fun. If you're into first-person shooter games or frenetic speed, skip Pharaoh. However, if you are looking for a game with which you can kick back, relax and have fun before turning in at night, Pharaoh's your game. (IOW, it's a "wind-down" game, not an adrenaline rusher).I've played AOE, AOK, Caesar 3, and while AOK is the best game I've ever played, this is probably 2nd. Well worth the investment.

This game is so cool. I want to become an architect and this gives me experence to building, like Sim city but this is way cooler.

Best City-building game

This is a fun game, I played 99 times if not a hundred. I would hightly recommand it to anyone that like to build a city, rule their people, balance their budget, and some times a little bit military action. The graph looks great compare to simcity which is of small and ugly buildings. Especially when I went to a just opened new shopping mall, hey, all those building graphs are right there! The drawback is it doesn't support a zoom out to look at your whole city, and map is kind of small relative to your big buildings, I know I expand too much. But other than that, it's all fun. Oh, one more problem, when your houses upgraded to a certain level, you'll need secondary luxaries, like wines, but you have no way to get it, I guess you'll have to get into modern age....

Another Great Game

Are you boring with sim city ? Do try Pharaoh! This is a game seems as sim city but it's base on ancient egypt. You need to build a great city and when you reach the target, you can start another one. There are many different maps for you to choose there. The game will also teach you how to play if you is a new player. You won't feel boring after you play this game .

Uses the same basic game engine as CaesarIII in an Egyptian setting. Great gameplay, easy to become involved in the game, and provides enough challenges and levels of play to keep interest level up. A little confusing at first to figure out the function and availability of the panel of advisors.... Graphics and sound are very good, also. Keeping all the balls in the air while monitoring the progress of the city is a good exercise in multitasking, Nile style.... Very enjoyable!

great game.

Even though the graphics are not superb the gameplay musch makes up for that. The game is a simcity like game set in ancient egypt. The overall gameplay of it is addictive. The may differernt varietys of buildings and people you can hav emake an excellent stratagy taht never gets old. Plus the game is vey replayable, a rare thing in most real time stratagies.

Go hang out in Egypt...

I love this game! I have killed you-don't-want-to-know how many hours playing this.

It starts simple, with a cluster of mud huts along the Nile, and proceeds through centuries with ever more complex and elaborate cities. And the artwork is just splendid. The game gives you enough help so you can figure out what you need to do in each city, but actually doing it and meeting the victory conditions is like a big animated puzzle. Love it!

I got tired of the intro movie after seeing it exactly once (a little over done), but compared to how fantastic the game is, that's nothing.

Simple fun building game

Great buildup to all aspects of game = easy to learn. Simple, slightly repetative game play. Still loads of fun and slightly addictive (if one loves city building games).
