Better than sim city

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 2 / 5

This game is a bit like sim city, where you build and controll a city as the mayor, or god, because you can cause fires and tornados and stuff, but its better because you have an objective. Its cool because it's based on real facts about Eqypt, and I like it especially so because I've been to eqypt and seen the real pyramids at Giza, and gone a cruise down the Nile.

The best city building game yet

I have to say this is my favorite game. The graphics are terrific, the music isn't annoying, the cutscene animations are marvelous, and i haven't stayed up till 4 in the morning to play a game since i can remember. The accomplishment you feel when you complete a pyramid is quite remarkable. The game is so much fun and has so many great features you could play the game for weeks straight and still not get bored.

Addictive, better than Caesar III!

This game is great. It has tons of re-playability and just the right amount of micro-management. The goals are more able to be accomplished, and Pharoah demands less than the Emperor ;)Anyway, this game is better than Caesar III and I expect it just may become a city building classic too.

Have time?

Be warned, Pharaoh is no different that any other computer game: it chows time! I've played the entire thing through once, and now restarted it to apply skills learned in later levels to the earlier ones. Let me warn you: this game doesn't lent itself so well to replaying as eg. Caesar III did. Building a Grand Pyramid Complex the second time around is a real pain without the challenge of figuring out how to reach the rest of your goals. But many great features you always wished where present in Ceaesar III will be found here, so it is well worth the time & money!!

Absolutely a game worth becoming addicted too!!

With all of the involving components that make up Pharoah, you will be playing it endlessly. Or until you are finnaly able to toss it out the window in frustation, or perhaps actually beat it, like ME! The game doesn't have many glitches and it's really rood at occupying useless free time. The game's events are mostly historically accurate so its worth playing in order to relive history.....BUY IT!!

I love being a Pharaoh!

This game is the greatest. I've finally gotten to the stage that I'm the Pharoah. The game does an excellent job of teaching you how to become a Pharaoh. You start out very small with very few choices to make, but as you progress through the various scenarios more and more options become available. This, obviously, makes governing more challenging but at least you aren't overwhelmed with options like in the Alpha Centauri game. The early games here, teach you what you need to know! You don't need any kinds of strategy books or anything outside of what the game interface provides to be a success in this game. The one thing I wish, is that now that I've become a Pharaoh, I could request goods and services from other cities like the Pharaoh has been doing to me all along!!

This is one of my favorite games despite a flaw

I bought this game about three months ago, and while I play other games, I always come back to this one. It is very intricate such as you have to plan where you put things ahead of time in order for you to achieve the best results. Your citizens will want food, pottery, beer, and many other things, and if these things are not close by at a bazaar (even if you have a healthy stock somewhere else) they will leave.

I have noticed I frustrating thing with building monuments though and I think it is a bug. You use Work Camps to get peasants for the labor, and they haul the bricks and stones to build it. After a while no peasants will be around and when you click on the monument to see why, it will tell you no one has showed up for duty. This happens even when I have several work camps near the monument, more than enough people to work, and full supplies. They just stop out of nowhere. There is no information in the game or manual to tell you why this is happening. It was only with a "cheat" that allows me to finish the level was I able to move on (and I hate using "cheats").

Outside of this I enjoy the game very much, but would give it 4.5 stars if I could.

BRAVO!

...Great fun, great graphics, and overall, one of the most beautiful games I've ever seen.

Anyone who loves city-building games and brain-teasing strategies will love Pharoah. I can't say enough great things about it!

Kudos to the developers!!!

BEST GAME EVER

This is my very first in Sierra's city-builders line of games, and I LOVE EVERY DETAIL of it. With this game, I completely forgot that I still have to finish playing Myst Trilogy which I bought a few months back. This sure packs months of gameplay, and if you finish all the missions, you can download more scenarios from the official website and fansites, OR better yet, create your own scenarios and missions and share them to other gamers.

I give this game 5 stars, because until now I haven't touched the other games I installed in my PC. And I can't wait 'till the shipment of my Great Empires Collection 2 arrives.

Meanwhile, my people await and I have to oversee the building of my grandest pyramid.

I have been playing this game for over 5 years now and I have yet to get tired of it. This game provides wonderful entertainment and allows you, as the person playing the game, to be as creative as possible. In the game of Pharaoh you are given different missions in which you have to build and maintain your own Egyptian city. Another aspect of the game that I personally just found out about is that you can custimize your own mission which means that you can choose your own guidlines in which to play.
