You Will Be Ruled By Pharaoh

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 2 / 3

This is probably one of the best strategy/city building games I've played in a long, long time. The possibilities and the play are seemingly endliness, and the addition of the scenario builder makes the game that much more customizable. The challenge of getting areas to develop, while keeping the gods and your residents happy, along with the rest of the kingdom will test your multi-tasking abilities. There's very little to complain about with this game, and I'm lookign forward to trying the expansion pack.

Ancient Egypt has always a big interest of mine, and I love teaching it to my art students. This game is great. In order to play, you have to learn about ancient Egypt while building up the cities and making the monuments. It took me several years to work my way through them all, playing here and there when I had a chance. The newer Sierra historical games are easier to work, but this one is still my favorite.

Pharoah is the best historical strategy game that I have ever played, a perfect blending of all the necessary elements. The dedication to Egyptain history is laudable (although there are a few anachronisms), and the campaigns are well-written and satisfying. When you complete them you might be interested in the expansion pack Cleopatra, which gives you even wider-ranging possibilities and more historical detail.

this game is one of the most addicting games i have ever played you.

in this game you have to build cities for your ruling pharaoh{hence the name of the game}you can build industrial structers to entertanment structures tax your citizens and build huge monuments to display your power.the reaplay value is not so good but it will take you awile to figue out how to lay out your city the depth is amazing you go through 5 stages of evoulution ana as yoou prgress throgh them you will find new and interesting features.the only problem i have of this game is the combat.the combat is horrible your little guys runnug around swingin there swords and shooting there arrows and all you think is what the hell are thay doing?and there is very little combat i might add 1 tip of advice you can right click on any of your citizens and he or she will give you a summery fo what they thing of your city ar advice based on what field of employment they are in.

so in conclusion if you are a big fam of the sim city series and doint mind dubing it down a shade buy this game it the sim city of egypt.just a little more fun then simcity i think.but if u like the COMBAT do ot buy this game.it is not like age of empires in that way.the combat of age of empires is 600 times better then pharaoh but the building phase wipes aof out of the water.

Pharaoh is a great strategy game. It takes a while to figure out what all the icons do (because they're Egyptian symboles)but other than that its easy to catch on. I havnt beat the game yet but it is loooong. Though there is only one campaign it gets pretty difficult. I hear theres an expansion pack coming out soon and that will make it even better. If you have lots of time and patience this games for you.

It's a really fun game. It's a great building game, but it takes a long time. My Mom says "my kids love this game, and I prefer that they play this educational game that is fun rather than the killing games.

Caesar III All over again

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 2 / 5
Date: January 12, 2001

Although they attempt to distinguish this game from Caesar III with some minor religion and "family reign" type settings, this game is Caesar III with a different front end.

If you like Caesar 3, you will like this game also. It plays very well and the movies aren't bad. If you got tired of Caesar 3 (as I did) don't buy Pharoah... it is close enough that you won't want to play it.
