Ah, The good ol' days

Ah, yes, the good old classic!

My friend and I Agree on this game, we are classics fans!
I understand why others dont wanna play this... There is just no explanation about this game, the new ones are cool and all but they are, well "New". The old ones just are, well good!
The main challenge is to figure out what you are suppost to do!
It can be very confusing, but very fun!

All in all, if you are 3D fans but are willing to give up the high tech for the cool old 8bit games, then you got it made.
If this didn't make the cut, where would The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask be?

Don't expect the internal memory to work

Zelda's a great game, but it's old, and the Save Game feature relies on an internal lithium battery. After 22 years or so, I doubt there are many left with working batteries, and they're soldered onto the board so even a skilled electronics person would have a hard time replacing the battery without rendering the cartridge unplayable. Let's be honest, most NES cartridges are barely playable to begin with. I remember even when NES was new, you often had to try to start the game dozens and dozens of times before it would work. So trying to conduct any operations on a cartridge is almost sure to kill it. Zelda is a long game, so unless you have no plans for the next two weeks, you'll find it very frustrating to have to start over every time you turn the game on. You could just leave the game on indefinitely and just pause it when you need to eat, sleep, work, watch tv, etc... but that's risky too because if your kitty so much as brushes up against the cartridge bay, it'll glitch out and your hours of labor will be for naught. So keep this in mind when buying any ancient NES or SNES games with internal memories.

The First of the Best!

This game is the first of the most popular series played by video games. Sure, there are other popular series such as Sonic... Anyway, this series has the most games I've ever seen, including the new Zelda Gamecube. Well, you start the game with no items, but you can get a sword in the cave on the screen where you start. Then, when you earn rupees (the money in the game), you can buy things in other caves too. There are 9 dungeons. Each one isn't really harder than the last: They all have random difficulties. They have a piece of something called the Triforce in each one. Once you beat it, you play a harder version. There are also cool items in the dungeons, such as the whistle. This is the First of the Best, for sure!

Outstanding!

The Legend of Zelda is worth the buy (on the Collector's edition for GameCube only these days.)
The first thing ya' might be asking: Why 4 stars? Well there some 4 cm. flaws on the Collectors edition, which i'm refering to. The grpahics, as the results of the back-then-video-games, are terrible. Me? Why, this game is splendid! It's just you never even know where Ganon is hiding in the first part of the game.
Overall: Awesome.

The First RPG

This is the game that started it all! Before this game, after you beat a game, you had done everything you could do. In this game however, you could spend hours exploring Hyrule. Also, games didn't have much of a story behind them.
After that piece of history, I'll start talking about the game. The game seems simple by today's standards, but it's still fun to play. Also, it's very short. (There are only 8 dungeons, and each dungeon except for the last one are only about four steps in my guide.) People will also find the music annoying. But don't forget, it's only an NES game.
I love the whole Zelda series. I hope they keep making more.

i remember when the nes system first came out and i saw the legend of zelda game at kb toys for 60 dollars. how funny to think that a game with such limited graphics was 60 bucks back then! anyway, this game is the reason for my nintendo obsession that started way back when and continues today. i have to agree with the previous reviewer in really hoping this and zelda II are released on the game boy advance system.

Oh the joy that was the Legend of Zelda

Yes I would have to agree with the one person's review of this game, it's the game that started it all. I have not played the original Zelda in probably a few years now, but it still holds fond memories for me. While the graphics are not even close to today's standards, the game is great.

Without The Legend of Zelda, who knows what are video game world would be. I thank Nintendo for making probably one of the greatest games of all time (but that's only my opinion). I believe I was around 13 when I got the Legend of Zelda, and I would play it now if I had it. Oh the fun it was to play that game. The music, burned in your memory forever. For it's day, Zelda was the game. If you have never played the original, I think you are missing out on an event. Because without that one, you wouldn't have Ocarina of Time or any of the new ones. I am not sure if I can convey on this what a great game Zelda was to me. For it's day it was incredible.

Zelda's Fan

I am the biggest Zelda fan ever since I was 6 or 7 years old. So, I like this game because it's a gold cartridge and the gameplay is undetectable. I like adorable Link and he looks more like an ant in the graphics because it's NES. In the Nintendo 64, he looks like a giant, but better to see him. And I bet you that on Nintendo Gamecube, he's going to look better than an ant graphic, which I would love when the graphics are enhanced. As far as the graphics get better to see the backgrounds and other things surrounding in the game, that's far too good. This is a keeper and I wouldn't sell it to anyone. It's a memory from the past.
