The game is great. One question though, why does the green paint job for the fire truck never come unlocked?

An Outstanding Racing Program

Overall:
Microsoft Midtown Madness 2 is an excellent racing game. I consists of detailed scenery and a wide variety of cars. There are specific landmarks in both London and San Francisco. I definately reccomend buying this software.

City Scenery:
Midtown Madness 2 has specific landmarks form both London and San Francisco. You can drive through the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco or around Trafalger Square in London.

Commentary:
It is interesting to hear the Midtown Madness 2 commentary. Some of the commentary voices are against urban racing. They feel like it disturbes the city. Other voices, though, are enthusiastic with urban racing.

Physics Realism:
The physics in Midtown Madness 2 are not realistic. You can drive up to the top of one of San Francisco's tall buildings, and then drive off. You will only have light damage. You can flip other cars upside down and not hurt them at all. But it is fun, you can do things you could never do in the real-world!

Car Selection:
In Midtown Madness 2, there are a wide variety of cars you can drive. It ranges from a London Double Decker Bus to a Panoz GTR-1! There are three Volkswagon New Beetles, two Mini Coopers, a fire truck, and a city bus, and a Cadalac Eldorado along with a lot of other cars. There are creative paint jobs, such as a Bathtup Floural London Cab, which is yellow with flowers and a smile!

Compatability:
Midtown Madness 2 works on almost any computer above the standard Windows 95. A 3d accelerater card will improve its performance, but a non-accelerater card works great too. The software also works good if your computer is right on the minimum requirements.

Conclusion:
Midtown Madness is not very fast paced, but its creativity makes up for it and does what many racing games do not do.

Fun but.........

WARNING: do not dowload any cars or else you will be very sorry.I did this and the game stoped working and i can only play it by startung it up through the trail vershion. So evry thing in the London is untextured and messed up. Also the cops have no textures. This game is fun but listen to my warning do not dowload anything for this game because it screws up somthing called an AR file. This file textures ALL of the cars of the game plus London. Over all i would by this game because it is fun to smash through the traffic cars. All though they look like boxes on wheels.

Great fun!

We bought this for our 7 year old son for Christmas last year and he loved it! In fact, it's so much fun that my husband and I have played it and really had some good laughs and a good time. Definitely a must if you're looking for a good racing game.

This is one awesome game. It is realistic and very easy to get the hang of. The races arent easy but they arent hard either. You can either cruise around or race other cars. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who is looking for a game with cars in it.

A break from reality

If you are looking for a game with realistic driving and top grapics, then sit down and wait for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 for PC coming soon, but if you want unrealistic game play but amazingly fun and addictive play then get this game, ..., I was not very impressed with the races and the two jobs but you have to to unlock most of the cars, the one thing I love plsying is the Cruise mode I just drive around as long as I want and evade cops. This is true Microsoft, fun and greatly done.

MM2: Fun, yet crude

Midtown Madness 2 is a great game, especially if you have a fairly new machine and all the goodies: steering wheel with force feedback is sweet! However, if your machine is slow, or dosen't have a very good video card, it can be slow and the graphics are pixelly. If your computer is waaaaaay overloaded with incompatible software, it can freeze up entirely, over and over again.

Another thing about it is that you must unlock about eight of the best cars by winning races, or completing stunt driver or cab-driver training, which can be a big pain in the rear.

The game is very fun to race in. It fairly accurately simulates real racing and street driving, aside from the crude graphics.

It would be better if it had Need For Speed-like graphics, and no locked cars, and possibly a few more cars and a few more cities. But, all in all, a fun, fun game.

To quote Microsoft: 'the sensible cure for the crabby commuter!' Indeed!

Innovative and never boring

Okay, I want to set this straight: this game is fun and never boring. The replayablilty value is very high, especially in cruise. This game is also incredibly detailed, which I like. There are a few minor problems with this game: First, the AI is not that good. Computer-controlled traffic cars do not stop in cruise mode unless you are exactly line up in the traffic lane. Most of the time, they act as if you weren't even there. This gets annoying sometimes. Second, bugs occasionally pop up in the form of graphic glitches and lockups. These are rare, but take away from some of the believebilaty of this game. Other than these minor problems, I think that this game is a good buy for anyone who enjoys to drive the way they can't in real life.

Bullitt Re-Created!!!

We all have seen it. Steve McQueen barelling down the hills of San Fransisco in his '68 Mustang Fastback in the most memorable car chase scene ever, from the film Bullitt. The first time I installed the game, I had a mission: I wanted to race around the streets of Frisco like McQueen did. And I was overjoyed when the first car to come up was the '68 Fastback (in the same color, too!) that Steve McQueen thrilled us with. Anyway, for the most part, the graphics and particle effects are unparalled, but the traffic cars are horrible not only in graphical plain-ness, but intelligence. The gameplay is fairly simple, and you can even become a stunt driver on location in Frisco (just like Steve McQueen!) and re-live all those Bullitt chase scenes. Anyway, London is also very accurate, but riding the hills of Frisco is the most fun. And the minimal selection of 20 cars compensates... the game comes with a car designing program, and there are plenty of cars ready for download at angelstudios.com. Buckle up, racing fans (and Bullitt fans) because this game will definetely get popped into your CD-ROM drive constantly!
