I own Midtown Madness 1 and 2, and enjoy them both quite frequently. (Nothing's better at the end of a stressful day than sitting down and bashing the snot out of a Panoz GTR-1.) This is Good Stuff, to be sure.

When I purchased MM2, I admit I had preconceived notions of what to experience. Most were fulfilled.

The graphics aren't necessarily better than in MM1, but that actually works quite well for me. The game hitches and freezes and takes forever to load if I set it on the highest graphics possible. The same happens with sound. (Maybe I should get a more powerful computer, huh?!) The two cities are fantastically built and wonderfully conceived. I had a _blast_ running up and down San Francisco's streets and going airborne.

The cars are _awesome_, man! MM2's car selections include an Aston Martin, and Audi (my favorite), a Mini Cooper, a fire truck, all the cars from the first game, and more. These are the cars I didn't know I was missing out on in the first few years of playing MM1.

In San Francisco, the races in Amateur mode are easy. Way too easy. And in Pro mode, they're incredibly hard. In London, I found myself just ripping through all the races with little or no difficulty, even in Pro. In MM1, the Checkpoint races were a challenge because they asked you to find the best route. In MM2, they're basically Blitz races. A clear straight line with little deviation from the path. This was really disappointing. I remember in MM1, North River Run was a lot of fun because I got to find a new way of running the race - the checkpoints were more scattered.

The stunt driver courses, while innovative, are disappointing as well. The London Cabbie course requires you to drive a cab - no surprise. However, that cab is the most difficult vehicle of them all. It's sluggish, heavy, and slow. I found myself just giving up and not trying to unlock the Aston Martin (that's the prize at the end of the course). And while the San Francisco course was better, with a Fastback, the course requirements were either too demanding or way too easy. Overall, very uneven.

The map was a pain in the neck. I could never see a whole image of the map at one time. When I enlarged the map, it was distorted. The colors on the map were also all very pale and hard to see, whereas in MM1, everything was very clear and well-contrasted.

Also, you can't boot MM2 without the source CD, and that's quite irritating. If I spent thus much money on a CD, I don't want it to get scratched. Ever. And if I have to take it out of its sleeve each time I load the game, there are that many more opportunities for it to get damaged.

Still, Good Stuff.

Overall, ****/*****.

When first playing the well-known Midtown Madness, when the first driving/racing amusement game came about, I could drive in their city, Chicago, all the time, non stop, without many qualms.

I expected something way better in Midtown Madness 2. I don't know. I guess it was the sameness of the levels and options; it wasn't even, what should have been, a sequel.

The graphics, sound, and gameplay were the same. Nothing on this game to dwell much on, except for the levels--two new medium sized levels, San Francisco and London. But let me reassure you, the sound NEEDS to improve. Totally generic sounds, which aren't very realistic in city-life atmosphere, need to improve dramatically.

What really plummets Midtown Madness 2 is the lack of interest and captivation. Like I said, everything is the same.. Roads have the same textures, or the same ol' knock down the traffic light, get the limited amount--three cops to chase you, in which they aren't different, sadly.

Plus, speed isn't accurate. What I mean by that is is that you could be driving 90 m.p.h. and feel like you're really going 45 m.p.h. Having the lack of feeling the rush or intensifying speed really puts this game into a downfall.

Same textures, although a bit worse looking, same ideas, almost same everything, except for two new levels, which is something to be quite moody about. Other than that, if you're looking for fun in this game, it'll be there, but for a limited time only.

It's OK!!!

I think this is a fine game at first but in a month it gets kinda boring. Also, when it loads it takes up to 2 mins and i have a P3 933 mhz with 128 ram and a 32 mb video card. Like someone said before this game has a few bugs. Like when the cops chase me for a while they turn around and leave!!????? Also it some cars damage is symmetrical. But i loove the brittish accent in london. All together this is a good game with a few bugs. PS if ANYONE FROM MICROSOFT IS READING THIS MAKE SURE IN MIDTOWN MADNESS 3 THAT IF YOU DRIVE PERFECTLY TO HAVE THE COPS NOT CHASE YOU AND ADD MORE CITES AND A HIGHWAY AND A DESERT AND BRING BACK CHICAGO!!!!!!

Ok, when Midtown Madness 1 came out, I fell into love. So when Midtown Madness 2 came out, I bought it. Man, I LOVE this game. I mean, you can race around an ENTIRE CITY, you don't have to just stya on a race track. That is why I love it. Personally, I like San Fran much better than London but thats personal choice cause San Fran has hills.

Ok, the problems I had were there are 4-5 cars in this game that hit curbs. I mean, mm1 only had 1 car that did that, this game has way more. That sucks cause it is much harder to drive around. Thats why I didn't rate it 5 stars. Other than that, this game is AWEASOME. I would also recomend Midtown Madness 1 for your Chicagoans.

Great!

This game is excellent! I only have the free trial but I may even buy it later. If you can adjust the weather conditions and the time of day, then why can't you even turn on your car's light or apply the wipers? Anyway, I have lost the shortcut for midtrial.exe, but I installed another game and it went fine.
Hmm, wonder if the system requirements are not nearly symmetrical for each game/different type.
I have installed the lexus is 300, but I will be downloading more later on.
Well, anyway, I have gotten ALL the vehicles available for a truck simulator game called 18 Wheels of Steel: Across America.
I've gotten Hard Truck 2.
I will be browsing the Web for more info about this game.
If I can, and it seems good, I will DEFINETLY buy it. Oh ok.
I think you want me to stop?

Awsome with a few minor probs.

This game is great. Theres too many cars to unlock but I love the fact that you can download cars like Porsches, BMWS, Corvettes and all that stuff from the net. If you an oldies fan you can download oldies too. The gameplay is great which never slows down unless your in a multiplayer game. The graphics are ok but I recommend a patch which upgrades the graphics top-notch. The original gameplay is pretty good, not too realistic because you can make a moving van fly 14 feet in the air while going at speeds around 100mph. San Fransisco is probaly the better city because its packed with a bunch of objects to jump and smash on like a full enviorment of pedestrians and cars also police you can lower a traffic, pedestrian and cop meter so you can see more or less of them in the game. The online has loads to do like races and 'Cops & Robbers' where you can play as a cop or robber and go look for gold and return it too your secret hideout. The hideout changes every time some one catches the gold. The cars are great. Theres only 2 sports cars, the Audi TT and Aston Martin DB7 but remember: You can download even better cars from the internet. You can also download mini-cities which I have never tried. Over all this game is 2 thumbs UP!

Everything Except for the Crash Courses

This is a really great game, and the races are a lot of fun. There are 10 cars to choose from, but some are locked, and you need to win a certain number of races to be able to drive them. You have two cities to drive in and different modes of racing. However, the crash courses (which are needed to unlock some cars) are REALLY hard. (If anyone has any tips, email me at Scorpio371@aol.com) It also takes up a LOT of memory but it isn't too slow if you have mem. available. Other than that, its a REALLY fun game and its worth the buy.
