Maybe I'm too "old" but...

I thought this game was lots of fun! I grew up on Nintendo 32 bit games so for me this was a blast.. I don't invest a lot of money in games so this is a treat for me.. I found it challenging, only because I'm not good at computer games. I also found the story line of the book to be very interwoven in the game.

But for those who play all the time, yep, you'd be bored.

Me? I loved it..

I won't say this is the best game I've ever played, but it is the most fun. I'm not a kid, I'm in my twenties, and I love the books. I was able to finish this game pretty fast, but I still continue to play it again and again because it is so much fun. It stays very true to the spirit of Harry Potter, if not the book itself. The only thing I found disappointing is that Harry does everything, so there's not much interaction with Ron or Hermione for instance.

It's GREAT!

I have only seen a bit of the game we bought for my son. The graphics are subpar and you can only control the characters using the keyboard or mouse, not a game controller. I expected better gameplay from the folks who bring us the NFL, NBA, and NHL games.

Potter craze leads to release of substandard game

Loved the books...hate this game. Admittedly, I may not have given this game a chance. The graphics are poor and movement is archaic. What's up with using the arrow keys? What ever happened to games which allow you to use a joy-pad or mouse (more effectively). In their haste to release a video game to accompany the movie craze, EA has classified their loyal customers as well as the general public as idiots willing to spend money on any kind of "Harry Potter" junk. From what I can tell, this game isn't even worthy of release as freeware. Perhaps the game improves later. I wouldn't know because the flashing blue, red, green & yellow lights all over the Hogwart's castle walls gave me a headache. I wasted my money on this game and made the conscious decision not to waste any more of my time trying to play it.

The first thought I had when I started this game was, "Wow! These graphics look just like the movie!". The castle is very beautiful, and everything is just as it should be. The Quidditch is very real, and I enjoyed how Lee Jordon's commentating matched what I was doing.
I also really enjoyed the lessons, in which you put the spells you had learned into action to receive house points. There were only two drawbacks that I found in the game: One, I did not have enough time to explore or spend time with Ron and Hermione, and two, the game was over before I knew it. So, if your looking for a cool game with just a little challenge, then this is it.

Grandma loves it!

Short and sweet. I am a 58 year old Grandma who does NOT play computer games. I have read all of the Harry Potter books though and just had to buy this game. I find it fascinating although it is a real challange for me to get through each section of the game. I am now at the final battle and when I am finished, will probably play it again. My daughter and two of her sons are playing the game now to. We are seeing who can get through each level first. We're having a blast. I recommend it to anyone, young or old.

not what I expected.

I brought the game for my sons 9th birthday. He loves it but as a fan of the harry potter books and movies, I was very very disappointed. It is an arcade and as such alters the story to suit the game. They use the name, the characters and the setting to sell the game but could not keep true to the story.
The game starts at the school, and the brief run through of the story before then has a heap of inaccuracies. I would have preferred a game that started at the beginning and not in the middle. Missing is his time at the dursleys, diagon alley and the train to school. Hermoine and Ron play such a big part in the books and movies but in the game are almost ignored. Harry runs around alone, in the book Ron and/or Hermoine are usually with him but not in the game, not even in crucial scenes where they are present in the book. Otherwise flying the broom is well done and lots of fun. The magic is well done and fits in very well. The characters and voices are also well done.

Overall I would love to see the game done in an adventure style, remaining true to the book and starting at the beginning, with lots of puzzles that you have to use your brain to figure out rather than the easy ones this game contains, you basically move the magic round to find all the hidden areas etc, there is little challenge there.
For someone like me who expects the game to match the books and movie, leave it in the store as you will get annoyed every time they alter the story to suit the game.
If you want an arcade game loosely based on the books, that is fairly easy for the younger children then this is ideal as it has a learning level and auto jump that makes it much easier for the younger kids.

This is a great game!

I liked this game! It wasn't so easy that it felt too easy for me (age 25). But, it didn't feel too difficult for the younger kids either. I will say one thing. I've played this game on my PC and I've played the Playstation version on the Playstation 2. THEY ARE 2 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GAMES! They have the same overall concepts and goals. They have many characters and challanges in common. But, they have some creatures and challanges on Playstation that you won't know about if you've only played the PC version, and vice versa. I recommend both versions!
