Most addictive game I've ever played

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 0 / 2
Date: April 25, 2001

It took a while to get a hang of the controls and the less-than-complete manual forced me to get some game play tips on the internet, but now that the fog has lifted, this is an incredible game. I'm on the internet right now because I know that if I start playing it tonight, I won't stop for at least four or five hours. I probably won't be able to stop myself, however, so I'm not sure why I bother. To those that complain that there is no real freedom I must ask: Did you really expect the freedom to do ANTHING? This is still a computer game. Controlled by 1's and 0's just like everything else. What amazes me is the freedom the game does give you, which greatly surpasses anything I've ever seen before. The number of objects, people, and animals that you can interact with at any time during the game blows my mind. Everything is three dimensional and the only things you can't really destroy, alter, or move are the water, sky, and the terrain itself. I've typically not be a big fan of the real-time strategy genre in the past, but I highly recommend this game. By the way, the game runs almost perfectly (a little choppy now and then) on my HP Pavilion w/ PIII 450, 128MB RAM, & 32MB ATI Radeon PCI.

I'll make this short but sweet. In short, this game is awesome, or would be .....in another dimension where the publishers actually left out all the bugs and actually delivered a working PATCH within a reasonable time frame.

Awesome

I got a strategy guide in my Red Alert Game box. I read a lot of it! I hope I can get the game so I really can see the awesome stuff written in the guide!

This game is great visually and the game play is spectacular. But everything happens way to slowly. It takes time to conquer land and sometimes it gets a little overboard with things to do. I guess that is the drawback to being a god.

If you have alot of time on your hands then buy the game. If not, don't even bother. You will need alot of time to play the game.

My opinion about this game!!

I read Osiris' review about needing the 90MB patch, that is incorrect. That is a patch for the non-English game if people still want to here and see English language. Being from Canada, I guess he would need that. Sorry Osiris, but game companies expect that if you live in Canada and buy the game there, you will PROBABLY speak the local language, not the game's natural English. I admit that that is a huge patch, especially if you own a modem, but at least it was made available to you. I have yet to play the game, which is why I didn't rate it high. However, I ordered it a few days ago, and should get to play it around January. I will write another review about it then. I am fairly sure I will give it a high rating then.

This game is very cool. It has all of the reality and logic that I have been wanting to build into my games. I like this game because late one night, I was playing it and kind of dosing. Then to my surprise it said my name. Needless to say I tweaked. I looked deeper into it and I know kinda how they did it, but it is still wierd when a game says your name.
